No, I literally mean it. Game Guard is a piece of shit. You can snag it to msn and the game will still run. By 'snag' I mean it'll start checking MSN rather than the game client.

You think just, because it is off doesn't mean it sucks even if it was on. On or off it'll have no effect on anyone, but the out dated junk people use.

Your enthusiasm is nice.
But thats not issue here, Joymax have ways to prevents bots and to get rid off them easy, but they dont want to remove main source of income.

It can't hurt to have Game Guard running, but they need more than that. They need something server-side running to monitor game activities. Maybe they have something, maybe it's just not working correctly. Or perhaps their idea of 'correctly working' is different than our idea of 'correctly working'. Either way, something needs to be running on the server, that the players have zero control over, but that software has 100% control over the players to ban or otherwise punish them if they misbehave... or at least to flag the players to a REAL GM to handle the situation.

GMs shouldn't rely on the players as a sole source for 'bad behaviour' reports. Use the players, but have something else there too.

Instead of Joymax trying to develop a system so users can flag bots, or report bots, or put an arrow over a bots head... Joymax needs to have full time active GMs.

The SRO community needs to stop 'trying to' murder the GMs on sight.

The SRO community should not crowd around the GMs in the hundreds whenever they appear. Let them do their jobs.

All of ther captcha stuff is done client side. It wortks like this:

  1. Start SRO
  2. Enter username/password
  3. Sent and checked on server
  4. Server responds 'Ok'

Totally useless because the bots skip steps 5 and 6. To make it a real PITA for botters it should work like this:
  1. Enter username/password
  2. Server responds 'Ok' or 'Sorry we is full, pick another'
  3. Server generates image
  4. You enter the code
  5. Client sends code to server
  6. Server compares original code with recieved code

The problem with this is that not everyone uses the characters we do (Korean/Chinese etc). The solution is that you set the language in the Options. When asking for the image the server generates the image in that type of character.

genious, if those pop up. you won't have traffic.

But some retard who buys gold will just make a few accounts and annoy you to hell with these captchas. And even if it is implanted, most bots will get past it.

What do you learn out of this? Trying to stop bots, coming up with ideas will just make it even worse for you. Just play the game as it is or quit it.

Yep, that's what it boils down to. An active set of GMs with the ability to ban bots on sight could clear out a couple hundred goldbot accounts (and some player accounts) in problem areas on every server pretty quick. Could place them in a pickle at JM though...do you really want to bite the hand that allegedly feeds you? (Although most goldbots don't have any tickets at all, so who's getting rich off of that)

I imagine that if any GM were to log into a server...every single day...and run around and do their job - pretty soon it wouldn't be a spectacle anymore. Just a thought. :)

I played Perfect World for a bit. Great GM system - game has no bots; they get banned very quickly. If you had a problem, you could send a pm/bot report to a GM. If there was one online, they would actually reply to you, to inquire further about your problem...or they would mysteriously appear next to you, and ask you to type in all chat about your issue. Reporting a bot? Done in two minutes - the other character would sometimes disappear right before your eyes & you'd see the GM 'banned' as a server notice.

Great ideas listed, but IMHO there's nothing like the human touch when it comes to customer service. You can run programs on the server side to detect patterns and what not, but you can't beat the human eye. Active GMs that clear things out is the way to go. I'm sure there's enough people that would serve as GMs/Assistants for free (maybe just kick 'em a premium tick every month, or drop some silk on their acct) just to help. That's not a whole lot to ask for! :banghead:

In addition to the 50k, make it so that when the person that is flagged answers the question correctly, then the person that does the flagging gets banned for 1 hr. This would prevent a lot of the abuse.

If the person fails to enter the captcha, the person should get the 50k back. But if the person succeeds to enter the captcha, he loses the 50k. Also people out of town who haven't killed a monster in 10-20 seconds shouldn't be able to get flagged, this will avoid disconnecting afk uses out of town.

Didn't read the whole thread, so I'm not sure if it's been suggested already. Just my thoughts.

Best option would be that Joymax hires some people, that are mature, responsible and active daily in game, and pay them like 500 silk / month, and they would do the job that Joymax's Game Masters are supposed to do in game.

I would be willing to do that, win-win situation; better gameplay and I get silk.
