This was an idea I had over one year ago. However, it was doomed to not go on, since I had to leave the silkTavern by that time. This is a history of SilkRoad, and I think the people of this forum would might want to help construct it further. Let me present you the skeleton of the tale, and prologue / first chapter already done. You may suggest some changes if you find it is needed. Thank you. ^^

About the story...

"The Isyutaru was expelled from the Himalaya and came to the Karakoram due to the discord between the sisters, as the young sister of 2 daughters of the God of Snow who governs the Himalaya. Owing to the Isyutaru, the Karakoram becomes covered with the dead glacier, is changed to the death zone and becomes the bitters for the travelers of the Silk Road. "

Skeleton of the Story: Aeris is meant to be the "key" for all that is happening. In fact, in essence she is one of the daughters of the God of the Snow. The God of the Snow had her with a mortal woman. She has 2 forms, but when she saw the Prince (named Arashi, main character of the story), she decided to live beside him as a human. Then she made the magic to seem like a normal woman, and suceeded in all but her skin: still was almost white and pale as Ice. She told prince she has been born with a problem, but the Prince loved her even though, and didnt care to know more about her past. (Point here: the prince is the son of the ruler of Oasis Kingdom)

Then, her human mother was murdered and she fell depressed. Then she isolated herself on a hidden place and began her travel order to discover who had done this (thus abandoning the prince, without an explanation). She will find that it was her sister, then the discord will begin and the Snow powers of both sisters will fight over a far place in karakoram, the Spider forest (as we call in our days). However, Aeris is still depressed about what happened, and in her anger won’t be able to see that their fight is destroying the Kingdom of Karakoram. With her heart heavy, she will probably fall under her sister's cold and planned tactics. If the Prince cant get there in time, Isyutaru will rule forever over the now forever frozen kingdom of Karakoram (what will happen in a way).

After many adventures against thieves / Tiger Girl / Bandits, Robbers / Ureuchi and in Hotan Kingdom, the caravan will finally get to Karakoram, where he’ll find a way to enter the unseen spirit world (it’s just on a different sphere, but still on the same place).

Then the prince will see the final battle between the sisters, and the victory of Isyutareu. Taking Aeris in his arms, they will talk and Aeris will realize what she did (at this point, the kingdom of Karakoram is frozen and every single human frozen or lost) and beg for forgiveness. Now, she will ask him to stop her sister, or she will spread her cold power over Hotan and all China, few by few. Then she gives her soul to the Prince's Sword (a special one that he acquired on his Hotan adventure) and then the Sword will hold incredible powers, enabling him to defeat Isy.

Then the Prince (now King) and Isyutareu will fight (with the rights to have "Isy's spawn mobs" to help her, like Yetis). He will be losing, but then he will remember all pain that the world will suffer if he fails, and goes into a "Upper Mode of fight" (Berseck), what will finally take Isy down.

However his kingdom is already Frozen and cursed by eternal Ice and no power can melt it down. Isy's spirit will be longing there forever, but with no power to leave the cursed land or spread her power. She's just a ghost.

The Prince will then Travel for a new land to stablish a kingdom together with his companions and people who know what truly happened, and then NIYA kingdom comes into existence.

No, he's not Lord Yarkan, this is the "last" lord of the empire, as SilkRoad says:

“This the old load of the Niya. He stabbed himself to death with the ruin of the Niya empire. His soul not relieved wanders about in the real world and longs for the past honor in the Niya.”

~ Prologue ~

The moon was shrouded in clouds that night, and the whole forest below seemed silent except for some occasional howls of wolves, that were searching for some food that could be ripped apart easily...

Suddenly a giant shadow crossed the moonlight, covering trees in complete darkness. Some people who were traveling through the forest, and remained alive, would later spread rumors that an unimaginable huge bird was flying that night, over the place that the people of Chang'an called "Yeoha('s) Forest". It was called that due to rumors of ancient trees having soul there, and walking as humans.

Above, far above the panicking travelers below, a tiny unnoticed figure, wrapped in a black robe, was riding on the back of the bird. His lips were dry and bleeding due to the persistent wind. He definitely had flown too much today. Somehow he managed to get some words out of his dried up mouth that were meant for only the bird to hear:

"We are very near now, Roc. Dont give up."

The bird made an unpleasant noise in reply. Even at moonlight he could see its red wings moving like flames incinerating the sky. The prince couldn't tell how long they were flying. A week, a month, a year? He didnt bother to count the days... but now, with their destination so closeby, he began to think about how much his family was feeling his absence. They should be kind of desperate, he thought with a smile... A prince surely would be missed. His father, the king of karakoram, should have already sent soldiers to every corner of the kingdom. Or who knows, maybe not... by now they should already have noticed that Roc was missing. Even though they had many huge birds that they used for traveling, Roc was always the largest and the fastest. Not a single other bird could keep up with him. He had served the Royal Family for centuries now... He was also known as 'The Loyal Bird of Kara'. However, not too long ago, wild weather has fallen upon the place where it used to live, with all kind of beasts that could endure that harsh coldness roaming free. Roc was, then, removed near the kingdom.

He looked ahead. In the middle of the forest, he saw a light. Finally, he had reached his goal. The Oracle sorceress that he always had been hearing about, since he was a child. Stories told by his maid...

"On the distant plains of China, lives a sorceress that can see the past, the future and everything else. She has the power to predict the good times and the bad times. Sometimes a messenger of our kingdom goes to consult her about our future... - suddenly her energetic story-telling voice changed into a low mutter(ing) and her face looked stern - But that was before... now there are only a few in our kingdom who believe in such power. Do you believe it, my little prince?"

"Yes, I do," he answered (then). And even now, many years later, he still did.

He felt the pressure on his chest change. Roc was lowering his speed and altitude, preparing to land. He held the neckfeathers tight. Finally he stopped and let the prince dismount.

- Goodbye, Roc. Now you must return home. You can't stay here. My parents are searching for you. - Roc didnt reply. He continued to stare to the ground, as if he wasn't listening or just didn't care.

- No, don't worry about me. I will be fine. - Roc turned his eyes to him - Please, I am asking you. I'll come back in some time, but my family must know that I'm safe. I am ordering you to return and tell them.

Their eyes remained attached, looking at each other for a while, as if it was the last goodbye... however the prince couldn’t know that this was the last time they were to see each other.

Then Roc turned around and flew into the cold night. The prince stayed looking at his shadow in the distance for some time, until the darkness covered him.

He looked at the small hill, and the small house on the top of it. He was finally here...

"Aerys..."

~~~~ end of Prologue ~~~~
Chapter 1: The Oracle
(Everything started when Arashi, the king's son, left the kingdom secretly to find his beloved Aerys, who had disappeard for three months.
Not knowing where to begin his search, he went to meet an Oracle said to live in the deepest realms of the Yeoha Forest, near the city of Chang'an.)
The Prince stood by the door of the Oracle's house, and looked it for some time. The small, but well kept house didn't look like a witche's hideout at all. He began to wonder if he found the right house, when suddenly, the door opened and he heard something...
"Come in, young one. You might get a cold outside." - a misty, obscure voice spoke to him. Later, thinking about it, the prince would have swear it was inside his own mind.
Trying to pretend he wasnt scared, Arashi crossed the door, while it closed slowly and he felt as he was locked inside. Then a lamp was lighten and he noticed the Oracle smoking, sitted on a well-made and probably very comfortable chair. Looked as if it was made of white tiger skin. The said Oracle was supposed to look like a witch, but to his surprise, she looked as any old woman you could see selling fruit in the market near the palace. The prince worried the rumours might not have been true, but still, he asked the question he came to get an answer for.
- Could you help me find my beloved Aerys?
The Oracle looked at him with her ancient eyes, and seemed to absorb him. He felt as if she was luring in his mind and overlooking every corner, every thought. Her lips moved slightly, but as soon as she opened them to say something, the backdoor swung open, and a broadly built man appeared.
"Yo, wife, I brought some wood for the fireplace. Its probably going to rain tonight and we must -," He looked again, and noticed the prince.
"Oh, do we have visitors? Sorry for that, son, I've been very distraught lately. Things have been going weird lately in the forest. Let me introduce myself. I'm Myosoryeong, the exorcist. Who are you?
"I'm Arashi," the young man replied proudly, "the prince of the kingdom of Karakoram."
"Oh my," the exorcist's eyes twinkled, "we have a royal person in our house, wife." The exorcist gave the prince a light bow, as if he didn't really care about the person's position or blood, but it wasn't really a mocking gesture, either. He dropped the wood near the fireplace, sat at the table, and started sipping the cup of herb tea his wife handed him.
"So, young prince. Please sit down and have a cup of this amazing herb tea my wife makes. We don't get many guests nowadays."
"I thank you, exorcist," the prince replied, "but I cannot accept your hospitality. Please forgive me. I have only one thing in mind right now, and that is how to find my love, Aerys, who has been missing since not long ago. I was hoping your wife," - he bowed slightly at the Oracle - "could help me."
The Oracle looked at the prince with her piercing gaze again. Then, she finally spoke. Her voice was melodic, soft and kindhearted, but with a hint of seriousness.
"Young prince," she said "I see no evil in your soul. I see no arrogance in your manners. I will do everything that is in my power to help you find your beloved one. I need just a few minutes to gather the needed things for your journey. Please wait here."
"Thank you."
The Oracle left through another door that had a painting of an eye on it. The prince looked around and saw the exorcist, watching him with a small sardonic smile on his lips. Then he thought about Oracle's words again.
"Excuse me, exorcist. What journey was your wife speaking of?"
"Why, a journey through the Spirit World, of course.."
The prince jumped. "Spirit World?! Is that like the Tartarus?!"
The exorcist just smiled, this not being the first time he heard a reaction like his.
The Oracle left for another room. Arashi wondered how long would that take. Probably a long time, he decided. He might as well have that cup of tea... the smell seemed so soft and tasty... and soon he fell asleep thinking about everything he had heard from the Oracle. He slept long and deep.
"Arashi, it's time to wake up."
Arashi sat up and looked around. "Oh yeah, I was here.."
The fire had gone out, and it was light outside.
"You're lucky you slept here tonight, there was a huge storm tonight."
But the prince ignored it, and stared at the Oracle, thinking.
"Excuse me, did you find anything about Aerys?" he asked, staying polite.
After a long period of silence, she spoke.
"I've found your love, Arashi. She has been in mortal danger after finding the truth about her mother, who was murdered violently by the Devil himself. If you really want to find Aerys, you must find 'she who calls herself Jade', and she will assist you on how to get to her. Currently, she and her sister are fighting, unseen, over your country karakoram."
Arashi was stunned. He felt his heartbeat accelerating, his stomach started to ache.. So there really was a Spirit World... and his lover belong there.
"But, where do I find-", he started, but he got cut off, "Hush, just follow your heart, it will lead you to your love. But first, make your way towards Jade, she lives in the distant Spider Forest, in the west of that country." Arashi thought deeply, processing the stunning news.
"Spider Forest," thought the prince, "I remember that, it was near my kingdom. People named it that way thanks to the amount of spiders there in the spring and summer." He noticed the staring Oracle, and quickly said: "Jade, then? And she can lead me to Aerys?" There was a moment of silence. "Yes."
The Oracle looked ghastly, as an old witch, and muttered:
"I've found some more terrible news, though. There will be great dangers on your path ahead now, young one. A great power has been finally set free. The Winter of a thousand Deaths will come to your homeland if you fail to bring her back. I have said too much. You must depart right now and be fast."
"Be fast?" thought the prince "it took me ages to get here, and that was with Roc. How long will it take if I make my journey back all by myself?"
But the witch seemed to have read his mind:
"If you go now to the great capital Chang'an, nearby, you will find a caravan leaving, normal merchants with Silk, on the way to Europe. If you stay with them, your way may be safer than if you go alone. If you don't know where to go, my husband can take you there. He is a friend of a Buddhist Priest there.
"Thank you so much, ma'am." - said the prince as noble as possible.
Then he and the exorcist took their horses, and started their own little journey to Chang'an. Drafting over the meadows, Arashi lost track of reality. He lost himself in thoughts about Aerys. The day they met. It was at a party. Uncle Asu's birthday. Three years ago. They had seen eachother for the first time there, and fell in love instantly. It was love at first sight. "Arashi! Watch out!" Arashi woke up from his thoughts and saw he was heading straight for a cliff. He quickly steered the horse back towards Myosoryeong and they rode until they could see the rock walls of Chang'an shining strong below the blue sky.
When they arrived at the gates, the guarding soldiers demanded what business they had in Chang'an. "We came to see the Buddhist Priest Jeonghye, he's a friend of mine. We're interested in the traders caravan leaving soon, Arashi here wants to join." The guard stared the exorcist in his eyes. "You may pass." The guards let them pass.
Using an ancient map of Chang'an, they located the Buddhist temple, it was at the other end of the city.
Walking past all the beautiful ancient buildings, they arrived at their destination.
Jeonghye was inside, meditating. The exorcist, knowing the priest was an energetic person, did not know if he should interrupt the priest or let him meditate.
He carefully whispered: "Let's wait until he's done, Arashi." But it was too late, the priest had already heard them.
"Oh my God, it's you! Welcome back my friend! How've the exorcisms been going lately?"
After some time of chatting, Jeonghye showed them to the shop where the trade caravan would be leaving from. They went inside, observing the Feng Shui-ish style in which the shop was done.
"I'm looking for the leader of the upcoming caravan trade to Europe."
"That would be me, Sephu."
"Oh, sorry... Let me introduce myself. I'm Myosoryeong, an exorcist from the north. This here is Arashi, a friend of mine, he's planning on going with the trade."
He hid the fact Arashi was a prince, so that Arashi wouldn't be the center of the trade, which would make it safer as well.
"You are welcome to join, Arashi, if you like. But first, you must pay an entree fee to the traders’ guild, who is organizing the trade. We will be departing in two days. Have a feel of the city until then, buy what you need, and come back.
“Thank you, sir, I shall.” – replied the prince. He and the exorcist walked to the gates and then said goodbye to each other. As he did disappear on the distance, the prince couldn’t help to let his imagination take over him.
“I’m on the Silk Road now…. and this shall be my story.”
And there will be more. However, Im still asking for helpers that are good at writing, at least to correct my typos and/or to give suggestions to the story.
Theres currently an sro chronicles competition running. Maybe once that ends, we could propose this as volume II. Just a thought.
Did you? As I said, it was created around a year ago, and posted at SilkRoad Tavern, back then. I know some people wanted to make it a movie, but I didnt know it was really made.
