What the heck is this about? With my rogue I died around 5 times against a giant, just because I couldn't switch weapons. It wasn't some status too (like stun or something else).

That ain't it. I'm switching weapons often (most of the time for healing cycle, sometimes bless). But already had a few times that he really didn't want to switch weapon.

Don't know how it happened. It also said something in the right lower screen (where you see how much gold you pick up etc...) about not being able to switch weapons or being able to do this action (don't know exactly what stood there).

Hmm, at least I'm not the only one...Seemed like a bug to me too, especially since it doesn't happen often. Still it sucks if that's the reason you die

that sometimes happens to me also

I'm pretty sure it's because of lag or something...the mob kills you in the next hit right?

It's because you're already dead that you cannot switch..it's just lag and shows the mob killing you and dying but it has already happened...

if that's not the case... sorry then :/

No that isn't it either. I know the difference between lag and this. And no, I didn't die the next hit. In fact, I fought for a quite a while till I died, but I died cause I was expecting that I could use some of the cleric skills, which I couldn't. And I already knew that I couldn't beat the mob without the cleric skills... :banghead:

maybe inventory was full

you cant switch if you are already in middle of attack either... other than that there isnt any problems with it

No, then you get a message that you have a full inventory. This was viable option that you mentioned but I didn't mean that. I double checked if I had a full inventory after it happened.
It already seemed that I wasn't the only one, but was hoping that someone knew how this happened...

What it said in the corner was "cannot use skill with current weapon" , because lag made your weapon switching ineffective, and because you used another skill right after, it lagged the weapon switch, then had to display the msg, then you were wondering what to do, so probably kept pressing it...so it stuffed the connection with packages. It's usually bad programming or connection lag when that happens, but it sure sucks.

It's more well known as item lag since it happens to pots and when you transfer items/drop items.

Hmm, don't think it was this, cause I thought it said something else. Well, I'll pay good attention as to what it says when it happens again. I know that this also happens when there's lag and I know what you mean. This also means that I would be surprised if this would be the problem, cause I would have seen/solved the problem myself. And yes, I could be wrong 1 time, but a few times in a row would be rather strange.

Oh yeah, one more thing why this can't hardly be it. As said it didn't wanted to switch weapon, so I just kept fighting (hoping I would kill the giant). Anyway, this went on for like 20 sec before I died, but in all that time I couldn't switch weapon and it said the same. Eventhough I could use all of the xbow skills.

Oh... Did you accidentally have a higher level weapon on the shortcut button? That is the only reason I could think when you are unable to use a weapon...unless you were using skills over and over and it just didn't let you because of the crossbow being in use.

Didn't had a higher lvl weapon, so couldn't put it under a quickkey. About the spamming on buttons, I don't think you've played a rogue, cause there really is no point of spamming the keys as you might be tempted to with some of the other classes. Only 3 attacks of which 2 takes a while and you don't have to use a imbue every few seconds.

If you seriously don't spam the weapon you want to switch, not putting it on the character, then you won't get it on your char as a rogue, especially XBow. From what you are saying, instead of constantly spamming the Cleric Rod or w/e you kept using skills. With just normal attacks for XBow it can take 2-3 hits before it will actually switch. And TBH with all my time playing I have never heard of this message coming up unless your are dead.

Well, a part of that is right. It's true that it sometimes takes a one or 2 attacks as a rogue to switch, but if you just do it calmly there ain't a problem:

1 attack is busy
you're pressing the button for the next attack
When the next attack start you're gonna press the cleric rod. If you're lucky he'll get it right after the attack, otherwise after 1 normal shot.

No there isn't, but you can put your weapon in one of the quickslots. That way you can switch easily.

I think the system doesnt recognise the interrupt when you're busy with one skill or the follow up default attack after the skill like the powershot (the one with knockback). You can try doing a fast shot before doing the weapon switch coz, the fast shot will gurantee for sure, that your default attack will not auto attack.

In other words the fast shot would stop the momentum and let you have a chance to switch your weapons. Practise more, timing plays important role in switching, just like blader trying to kd twice in a row without doing the default attack after the first kd. Or another example is trying to change your glavie into blade and shield after ghost-mars.

There's a delay between using items and skills in sro, and that delay is often way too long for it's purpose but yeah. You can't always switch RIGHT after a certain skill like mentioned above. :)

Oh right, I forgot all about auto attack..so yes, fast shot on a rogue would be a solution. I didn't realize this until you guys mentioned auto attack, but I often click to move after a skill when i want to switch weapons, that way, the auto attack won't start, and the next action will definitely be weapon switching since item change overrides movement.

PS. You can always switch after spells because all spells do not link to auto attack automatically like the p.atk skills. Meaning, switching from cleric to xbow is never a problem without lag.

You haven't read the whole topic....I already had that message before when I still fought for around 20 secs...You're not gonna tell me I had a lag of around 20 sec that time while still being able to use skills...

I think I've actually had this when I wasn't even trying to switch weapons. Most of the time when I want to switch I either have to spam the keys or press them slowly so I don't get that annoying 'wrong equipment' message across my screen.

Practise more, you need the proper "flow"

make sure your char aint doing anything else at that moment, dont try to spam the skill before you your weapon changed.
