Basically I want to be str glaive, except I know that if you replace some str with int, it increases your damage (at the cost of a little hp and physical def), because the imbue damage goes up. I don't want to be a nuker, I want to attack with heuksal skills, and would only use nukes maybe to lure mobs. So basically I want to know, how much int/what magical balance % do I need in order to do the most do the most damage with melee attacks? Also, would I do more damage using glaive or spear? I thought glaive but I see the spear has a higher combined physical/magical attack then glaive.

Glavie will have no use for nukes, even when luring mobs. They have the flying dragon spear. I know pure STR does higher crits than a hybrid, but I really cant tell you what is the best build....

Glavie has a higher phys attack, spear has higher Mag attack. If you're STR go glavie, INT go spear.

If we are talking average dmg, a hybrid does the most average dmg with skills, I assume when your balances are euqal 70/70% you will do the most average dmg with physical skills. But pure str will do more crits, and when crits are what you use to kill others it's more important to have higher crit dmg.

Thanks for the reply, I have a couple of questions:

1. So does that mean that when full equipped I should try to have my physical and magical balance be equal?

2. I know crits will be higher if I'm full str, but are you saying I will do them more often as well if I am pure str? I thought chance of a crit was solely dependent on the weapon's crit value, is that wrong? If a weapon has Crit 14, does that mean I have a 14% chance of doing a crit every hit?

3. How is crit damage calculated? Is it something like 2x the str damage?

Most dmg is full int.

Highest crits is full str.

85% phy balance will give you great normal hits with crits almost the same as full str. This is for ANY chinese str weapon.

Have fun.

If you want Chinese, go glavie + fire or spear + fire, depending on how heavily you are into str and int. I personally would go 50% str and 50% int with spear+fire.

If you want European, go 2 HS or Dagger, depending on if you want to tank a bit too or you just want damage.

Thanks for the reply, I have a couple of questions:

1. So does that mean that when full equipped I should try to have my physical and magical balance be equal?

No he is just talking about the common bow build. (which i am so you should listen to what I am saying) :) . 70:70 is an int hybrid, close to 1str:2int ratio. Since you want to be a harder hitting glavier I don't think you will want to be that int.

Yes crit 14 weapon gives you a 14%chance of critical. Also you don't have to believe me but...... The critical value is very very close to the same when a str char crits and when an int crits. You just notice it when str crit because it increases the damage output more then with an int character.

3. How is crit damage calculated? Is it something like 2x the str damage?
Yeah its something like that. Unfortunately never tested it.

I know a light hybrid glavier and a light hybrid bladder(30 int points or less), and they don't suck at all. They do very well. Are they better than pure str...Not sure, definitely not worse.

If you do go hybrid just make sure you raise snow shield to the max lvl your build can handle. With snow shield you are guaranteed superior to pure str, without snow shield (1 min cool down) you might be at a disadvantage.
There is a guide to building a 1:1 glavie/spear build guide that has a lot of discussion on this topic. It might even be stickied.

So to answer your origional question there is no recommended balance. You have to just decide how much hp you are willing to give up.

If iam pure int though and use heuksal attacks...even with imbue I will still do less damage than a hybrid using heuksal attacks right? So does equal mag/phys balance = highest damage on a regular hit?

u might wanna try my build on my signature.but only works good on snow shield. and i think the damage is decent.when u got stuck by massive amount if mobs use the snow spell which is learned on lvl 23. frost nova-wind.and then use ghost spear to spin them off.

Wrong. Pure int will always do more damage at the sacrafice of hp. Perhaps crit won't be quite as hard, but it will be very, very, very close.
