Post subject: eBay delisting most virtual items Posted: Sun Feb 04, 2007 8:24 am |

Over the past few years, both gamers and nongamers alike have been baffled by the premium prices commanded by in-game items in Second Life. So-called "gold farming"--the practice of creating in-game currency for real-world sale on auction sites--has become so prevalent, sweat shops devoted to it have opened up in China and other Asian countries.
Over the weekend, though, the most popular auction site on the planet began removing listings for in-game items--with one major exception. Though it now prohibits the selling of in-game items for World of Warcraft, EverQuest II, and other massively multiplayer online role-playing games, eBay will continue to allow sales for items and property in Second Life.

wikipedia wrote: Second Life (abbreviated to SL) is an Internet-based virtual world which came to international attention via mainstream news media in late 2006 and early 2007. Developed by Linden Lab, a downloadable client program enables users to interact with each other through motional avatars, providing an advanced level of a social network service combined with general aspects of a metaverse.
While SL is sometimes referred to as a game, in general it does not have points, scores, winners or losers, levels, an end-strategy, or most of the other characteristics of games. Users, often called "residents", can visit this virtual world almost as if it were a real place. They explore, meet other residents, socialize, participate in individual and group activities, and buy items (virtual property) and services from one another. As they spend more time in the world, they learn new skills and mature socially, learning the culture and manners of a virtual environment.

It says the sale of digital ITEMS, not accounts.. I suspect they'd have no reason to block selling accounts.. that should be perfectly fine..

you should see the massive amount of ADs in chinese forums selling accounts, items and golds in RMB (Chinese Yuan, Currency)
there are even people who server as "Human bots" which trains their MMO characters for other people, so the client can play occasionally, huv fun with the game, while avoiding the hard grinding
BTW, the best pwnage players in Chinese SRO is all those rich people who pay hundreds of dollars per month (if not converted to US dollar, thousands of Chinese Yuan)......
Theres also tons of bots for Chinese SRO, infact, they've developed bots for international SRO........ i feel ashamed that we made the best bots in the world, while most of the advanced programmers wouldn't even waste time on that..............
