I decided last night while SRO was down for a update/check
i thought to my self Joymax can ban the IP that people made
the bots with because JM records that IP you used to make a
bot. And so for the people that think its hard making money/grinding
they wouldn't have thought about JM recording anything, Therefore
the bot makers that have "legit" characters along with bot accounts
wouldn't have thought going behind a transparent proxy.
What i found out was you can't sign up anonymously because that
way you wouldn't be able to see the verification code, Also i went to
as many public sites that i could find and found out that like i said
before all anonymous proxies aren't acceptable, And all/MOST
transparent proxies have been already used [5x's] to create
accounts. And then if you try to make an account with your main IP
and you make another account that no one knows about but everyone
knows your main character so if you get caught botting with the same
IP you used to make your main "l3g1t" character then i'd suggest
expecting to get an IP blocked and all char's banned from you main
IP.
Well I know it may sound a little confusing but i couldn't really find
the words to explain what i actually mean.
Also i have a SP farmer at bandits called Xplex and don't accuse that
for botting when i'm simply SP farming, I've been accused for botting
with my MAIN and this one 2 times on each but as usual i'd respond
i'd stop grinding and i wouldn't attack protectors.... -.-"
Well I hope what i said helps make you get rid of the thought of botting
unless you buy your own proxy or have another computer in the house.
But eventually they WILL ban Public proxies from being used and IP
addresses that people think they will get away with...
Well i guess its time for everyone to have a second thought about boting.
Also i done a little google searching with many diffuernt strings and
managed to find bot sharing/discussion sites and so called "legit"
bots. I would also reccomend that no matter how many times you
scan a file that has a "bot" in it and so you decide to open it
and to you it seems "legit" DONT BOTHER inputing your login/password
even though programs dont need keyloggers to record anything
but the program can send the info to email address but then also
you firewall SHOULD prompt you to either block or allow any outgoing
sent info with any program, It should also show the IP of where the info
is getting sent to or else where the outgoing connection is getting a
hold of.
Again it all may sound a bit complicating but I HOPE this will change all
peoples minds that decide to try botting.

JM does nothing about bots.
Just deal with it, play SRO or move on.

if you want botting accounts, why do you sign up for free dial-up internet (dial-up every time you connect you get a new ip)? then use the free internet to sign up accounts. does that work?
j/c because ppl dont respond, doesn't mean they r botting, go see what F12 does

Yeah I'd never reply to anyone who I didn't know, you don't owe anyone a response except a gm if one ever questions you. You don't buy a gold ticket to stand there talking while your grinding. You know your not botting and a gm will be told so if one came so yeah... anyone else gets a response out of choice.

Yes i understand, But i wouldn't have thought that people bother
playing a game with a 24/56k modem/dial up connection.

getting accused of botting when you obviously don`t is a thing you should learn to ignore and grind on.
If people only can recognize bots by chatting back then they really are doing something wrong.
there are things like proxy changers so creating accounts is really easy.
player bots will be hard to ban or Joymax should change their view and actually accept video proof (hosted on youtube for example).
Goldfarmers will only disappear when people stop buying gold and joymax ban goldbuyers instead of goldbots.

I'd venture to say that your average botter is a bit more technically sophisticated (read 1337) than your average uh, forum posting guy.
And yeah, IPs don't mean much when 90+% of home broadband connections use DHCP. Add this to speculative fact that joymax doesn't ban by IP.. (as far as I know), and what we have here is a pointless thread.
Don't bot kids =]

Just to let you know i was trying to mention out howto
find out whos botting and who isn't...
GOD DAM, I'll type half a paragraph to say what i want to say
but then i just get mixed up with on how i want to say it and
nvm... My brain isn't functioning properly i can't find the words
what i want to use that will make sense with what i want to explain...
But, using a proxy that makes a anonymous isn't going to work
i found that JM doesn't allow anonymous sign ups, And using
a transparent proxy will work but i also found out that most were
blocked and also already used... Theres a solution i know that
may work but i'd rather not say because i'll sound more of a dik than
what i already sound like already or w/e... nvm i can't explain anything
right now...
Edit:
And when connecting to SRO client then logging in to w/e server
you play on then your IP is most likely going to be stored on
a log or something that records w/e incoming connections with
server youi connect to, Because each server has its own remote
computer server or w/e.... can't explain exactly what i'm saying its
all puzzled in my head...

a few things
- specific ip addresses dont matter, 32 and 24 subnets matter.
this part below is my opinion
- joymax doesnt care to ban by ip address most likey due to net cafe's etc.
- joymax doesnt care alot about banning bots.
- your data in no way should 'scare' anyone who bots

I think the only reason Joymax did the HUGE ban list was to shut people up for a while..obviously the cracks are starting to appear again and yes .. it is a problem that needs sorting..but in the mean time its something we have to deal with ..or be quiet about it On the way back from a trade..outside DW i counted 17 botters :\ 4 of them on trace ! lol how lame.

Well...
First off havent seen you post here for sometime so welcome back
DeaDSwarM.
also when i grind like mad people think am botting...what do i do..i stop
and tell them am not or i just ignore it...like said above if a player cannot
tell the difference from a bot or an actual character then thats their fault.
But as for banning bots....we all know that JM are taking a more definate
action and have banned over 9000 to 10,000 bots since Christmass..
but without a method to stop new bots its only a stop gap mesaure.
I mean we dont really know if JM does or does not ban IP addresses.
i mean unless it happens to us (being caught botting) we wont know
but one thing for sure...
is that just like how peopel cryed and moaned about the so called
"gold bots that joymax wont ban", its all speculative, until that is we see
some kind of hard evidence of a post-banned account

+1 about JM doing it to get people to shut up... its just like them adding
new servers to shut people up.
5 new servers last year...and did it solve lag.... NO. but it kept people quite each time a new one came along

+1 i hate those people...you go to an area with say 4 to 5 monsters
and they have this attitude that if you dare kill one of them its ksing them
hell...even when you attack a mob first they still think your ksing them.

... just plug your phone line into your comp (if it is has 56k modem), sign up for free internet, register an account, disconnect
start SRO when broadband

It's a bit late saying that now...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Surely theres gotta be some way... I'm just wondering do bots
auto move the mouse or do they just attack the monster without
using the mouse like a normal player would?
I'm thinking and this idea is based on out of towns, If say you
don't move your mouse for 30 or so then you get auto tele'd to
a location where you can't do ANYTHING apart from put in a
verification image code or something, You get the idea?
But by doing that it should help stop bots from botting for a
period of time till the "real person" comes to the computer and
types in the image code, Also it would help people that had to
go AFK for more than 30mins or soemthing and so he/she would get
tele'd to this place where you can do nothing but type in the image code
it would help them not die after 30mins of wasting pots or something...
Yeah sounds a little stupid and complicating but it was just a thought.
