hahahaa i'm glad! those monkey things are driving me nuts!! they pick up other people's drops before the system allows me to! it's not fair!
like for example, someone would come through and kill something dropping some gold, and I will go try and pick it up a few seconds later, after I've killed a few things, but i still won't be able to, and then someone elses monkey will swoop in and snatch it up... and i'm like, "bloody deus!!"
No wonder i see so much of my own gold getting snatched up by them, they seem to have a slightly lessened time restriction on them, either that or they're just really freaking good at snatching stuff up RIGHT after the time restriction is up, and always right when it seems i've finished killing a horde of monsters

a guild? do you mean a guide?
actually... this made me think...
perhaps... you can get 1 monkey... then have a friend who plays at a different time than you (someone from this forum, perhaps? or whoever else you trust)
then... when ur done with the monkey... ur friend comes on... give him the monkey... whoo... no time wasted... and both benefit from it.
it would apply to more ppl too, i guess...
maybe that'd work. good use of a solid 4 week period

problem is, if you're fighting several orange mobs (like some quests require), you have a chance of dying or taking several hits when pick your stuff up.

Then pick up the most important thing, like a weapon drop or elixer and leave the rest for after if a monkey hasnt gotten it.. But its not hard to pick up at least one item while fighting higher lvl mobs.. I've done it plenty times.. You just have to use maybe one extra pot

while that's true, it still sucks. if i'm fighting and an equip or something nice drops, i'll always take a break to pick it up. but i can't stop for every pile of gold. if i'm in a place where mobs are constantly spawning, then i might accumulate 10-15 piles easily before a break comes where i can pick them up. that's 2-3k gold, and i don't really want some monkey to steal it.
i'm not against monkies, i just think that picking up other people's stuff shouldn't be an option. it should just pick up your own, and that would settle just about everyone's complaints with them.

I share everyone's frustration with thief monkey pets. Can't tell you how many times, I wish I could have shot someone else's pet.
I have one of those monkey pets, now, and the grab function is off by default and you can choose for it to pick up everything or just your stuff. Just your stuff is on by default, so you can blame the various monkey owners for stealing your drops.
Here is what I do, I keep my setting to just pick up my drops, if I see other drops that people have left behind, then I will go pick up those items myself. It is just courtesy.
I think they should allow pet monkeys that are set to picking up everything to be shot at and take damage. That would greatly reduce the number of drop thefts that go on.

Penalty for stealing someone elses drops. My proposal would be that the penalty would not apply to those who have their monkey picking up only their own drops. Don't worry it was only a thought. Not asking anyone to consider it seriously.
Can't tell you how many times I have walked past others being mobbed, who stop the fight to pick up their drops in fear that my monkey might take off and start picking up their stuff. I feel bad about that.
It is fun to drop useless items and watch other people's monkeys pick them up... hilarious. Think everyone should do it. Hopefulle, eventually these owners decide to set up their monkey to pick up their drops only, lol.
