It depends, generaly a combination of both is good, unless your sp farming, which will probably leave you without quests untill you get to the next level.

If it's leveling you want, then here's a hint from Moogie:

"Quests = Leveling. A huge part of leveling, especially as you move into your 20's and 30's levels, will be quests. Leveling becomes slower as your character grows in most any RPG game, but in Silkroad, if you ignore your quests, you will spend weeks pointlessly killing mobs with no real goal to it. Quests become samey and even annoying at times, but they really do help to break up the monotony of levelgrinding, and give a purpose to it all. Quests help, period. And the rewards you get will range from 5% to 50% of your required XP. It's worth it, no matter what."

But as welshkorn pointed out, if you want to SP farm, it's a whole different scenario.

My last char I did every quest save for the liquor related quests. This new char still has quests from the mid teens that are not complete. Basically every quest from 16 and up are so are incomplete. And the char is gonna be lvl 51 quick, On average doing a lvl every day or two with about 4-6 hours a day. This is with gold ticket though. With this char doing quest with gold ticket is a waste of time mostly.

I will however side with moogie if you are not using item mall stuff. Without the item mall tickets the quests actually help a good bit. But if you can get a ticket. Gear up and go big and leave the quests till later.

I don't know if the extra % of exp is worth the trip to your questmister.
But I DO know grinding is boring and the quests make you have a goal to reach.

It makes it less boring. It's like, if you have to kill 200 of fiends for a quest, you have a goal. If you don't take quests you're just running around like maniak killing fiends and think to yourself "Damn it takes long to level".

Well you get my point.

the end of my guide.

Developing on that, if the quest relates to mobs you'd be grinding on anyway, you may aswell do it for the ~10% bonus it'll give you towards your next level.

The way I see it, quests help a LOT. I agree with Moogie on that. I've never SP farmed before, and don't plan to either. What I do is keep about a 3-5 level gap (usually 3) and do any quest that I can get my hands on. The quests normally deal with white or orange mobs anyway. So when I'm working on a quest, I'm grinding on those mobs. I'll go to town, repot, repair weapons, empty my inventory into storage, and then go out to grind on the quest mobs until 1) I run out of pots, 2) inventory gets filled, or 3) my quest is complete. I won't go back to town simply to hand in a quest, but if I need to repot or repair my equipment, I'll go back and repeat my town visit.

I figure that way, I'll get through my quests and get some good grinding time in. The 3-5 gap allows me to get some SP, but at the same time I can level up at a somewhat decent speed. I guess if you really want to get a good amount of SP, get a 7-9 level gap, and you'll level a lot slower.
