I don't think Fly would need to worry about it, as it's a rather low profile server; however it's not a matter of wanting to fix the exploits, it's more an issue of actually being able to: I think there are around 2-3 people in the sro community who could actually debug the server files

@Attibu, it sounds like you don't think myth is ever going to come back online.

I'm assuming these exploits are like stuff that crashes the server or what not. How is it that servers like Theta, don't have that problem?

even if myth opened today, it seems high risk to invest time and in many peoples cases money, into the server for the first month or so!

why cant synx, along with the guys at venture and even fly just have a group sex session and figure out a way to run a server together!!!

I do think they'll be back online, I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression (I have known caipi and synx for a long time now, they do know what they're doing)

Theta actually has the problem of the exploits, but I'm guessing they're not that big of a threat to other server owners as myth is :wink:

(the same goes for DDoS attacks and hacking attempts)

I'm guessing it will be back online tommorow or in 2 days, as datacenters don't tend to replace hardware during the weekend or night (european time)


@Hideoki, you would be suprised how close we work together (for example, some features on the new Venture website have been made with help from Caipi (from myth), and the other way around) but in the end it's not really practical to make one giant server, as even the slightest difference of opinion can stop the entire operation.

true, my time on myth left me feeling like so much potential was lost due to a poor player base. by potential i mean the skill of synx/caipi seemed like they had ever possible ability to run a server and create custom stuff.

i never got to try out venture due to irl but ive only heard good things about it, salvatiom was my last pserver and i loved it, fly did a great job imo.

and where myth had a poor player base byt epic staff, ecsro had the best player base 'valhalla etc' but shitty staff only in it for money, think it was a guy named ocean who ran ecrso.

also, esro 'rafa, eckorro etc' had potential, i hosted plus designed launchers/web design for those guys and did some verrrrrry early testing when you could only have like 3-5 guys online at once lol! redd was involved too i think! and we formed an epic tsro movement for a few weeks, or vsrp i forgot which!

Why not get all those areas of conetntion out of the way before even starting it?

You know how coders make flow charts of things that neeed to be done before even coding right? you could do something like that for a huge server combining all of everyonne's thoughts and hash them out untill you can can come up with an agreement, then . . .stick to it.

Also, a question about the exploits. . .can no one hire coders to actually fix these exploits? I mean real coders. . .there's a freelancing site called elance that has tons of coders jsut waiting for people to hire them. It's pretty easy to tell which coders are good or bad or not as well. A lot of money has already been made on these servers. . .it's suprising that no one has reinvested that money in to fixing all the bugs/exploits.

Yeah, I was part of the late esro team (I do remember you, that site was one of the best I've ever seen, I think I still have a copy of it), unfortunately npcdoom (rafa) got too busy with his studies, it had a lot of potential.

Unfortunately we can never have servers like ecsro anymore in terms of playerbase (since the files were leaked), but we can have higher quality servers; whether this is better or not, I don't know

Well the problem is that servers are not a static entity; they keep evolving, so problems can arise at a later date. About the exploits: it takes a lot of time and familiarity with the files to find and fix the exploits. I don't think there is anybody left with enough money that actually cares about it. We had them fixed on venture v1, but people still prefered the x9001 servers, even if they go offline a couple of times a week (sbot has autorelog :wink:)

rafa would be up there with rhe best in the community if he was still around no doubt. i was mainly interested in helping out with the web side of things really, i was working on a system like final fantasy 14's lodestone. pretty much created a better rev6 i guess with all your gear and stats showing, but one you could login to and use your character webside as a profile for the forum etc, i loved the idea of players being able to send msgs off the website to people ingame and see other guild members that are online, maybe even some kind of way to sell items too. nowadays making this mobike compatible within an app would be better.

that was years ago though now, i'd love to learn how to actually contribute actual ingame content and work server side more though.

damn. . . so all that money that has been made is pretty much gone now. . .so sad. . .It seems like it would be easier/better to make and design a whole new game, using concepts from sro (jobbing for example) and the classes, and name them differenly, and make them move a lot smoother than the did . . .slap on a new name nad bam.

Actually, what most MMORPG's are missing is tons of Classes. Most of them do have Warrior/Wizard/Paladin/Cleric only.

Not much too choose, Reason why I do not like to play the Chinese Race in SRO, you got only 6 Classes to choose (Split by STR/INT), so ya ..

Hurrdurr, when I see those People cry, about a Wipe is being unfair!, because they have grinded "That" much (2-3 Hours *lol), something is definitely wrong ...

Same with people that cry that not wiping a server is unfair because they lost 2-3 hours.

Well to be honest, I do not care what happens at all, if Synx7 manages it to give us a enjoyable Gameplay with a Wipe or not it's fine for me.

People shouldn't take this Game too serious ^^

Fly had the best GM team who which hate bots, we locate and punish them daily. 99% of bot's players admit to me that they was botting and then apologize (It was late). Guess who I am !!??
