Okay this whole situation just escalated too quickly. I don't see what was wrong with the guy recording. It's not like he was right up in their face about it, he was for the most part, behind all the police cars; so why the hostility for someone recording? There are just as many corrupt cops as corrupt citizens; so there's a perfectly good reason to record.
What I really don't understand is LETHAL force towards the dog. Do police not carry stun guns or pepper spray with them anymore? There could have been a way better way to handle the situation with the dog.
But to be honest, if a guard dog came and tried to attack me, I wouldn't hesitate to kill it with a gun if that was the only weapon I had on me.

Tbh I don't think the guy needed to be arrested in the first place, unless he was calling slurs at them or something. He was pretty cooperative when they were shackling them..
Yep, very cooperative; although it seemed in a sarcastic way, tho. However, nothing else of this would happen if he didn't had put his nose where it doesn't belong. He could even film it quickly from a further distance, even from his car. But he decided not only to get out from his car and come closer but to bring his dog along... and for what?...
Again, I am not saying is not a big deal. It is a BIG deal. But then, this only creates controversy just because it was filmed. Many HUMAN lives are taken and not only by the police, and they are not even filmed... This could be probably an everyday thing around the world.

lulz @MrJoey And seriously, and why not Just let the guy... put his dog back in the car? Is that so freaky hard?
So they should have asked the dog to stop attacking long enough to get the handcuffs off? Think a little bit. The dog was already attacking, Rottweilers are big dogs, in the situation, I definitely wouldn't have waited either.

Exactly my thoughts.
I'm not really sure how the usual police behaviour is in America, but cuffing a person because he's recording/yelling at you from a distance - especially during an important and possibly dangerous operation - is really strange and just portrays a rather sad picture of the police.
The people who are supposed to watch over the people can't handle being recorded or yelled at a few times? They instantly get on their nerves and have to cuff said person who was clearly not interfering in a meaningful way? Especially with no perimeter set...
I would most certainly punch you in the face if you were filming me in the same annoying way this guy was doing it. And I would shoot your dog too.
Retard much? If you were a cop and punch me in the face for simply recording you from a distance you'd instantly forfeit your right to uphold any law in my mind and we'd have a fucking all out brawl right there me and you...You'd have to shoot me too....on video tape...And when you reach for your gun to do it (like the bitch you are) you better be quick...

Anyways..... A single mail man deals with all sorts of dogs on a daily basis....and in this case 3 cops with guns can't deal with one dog....Or felt they had to shoot it.....This is clearly a case of dumb retarded trigger happiness... This cop is either a psycho or is the biggest bitch on the force...
I still stand by the argument that these so called cops should have secured a perimeter if they didn't want to be disturbed...The situation looked intense enough seeing as how they had rifles out and ready...They could have simply approach the dude and tell him to leave..or else...Instead they didn't care that he was there until he said something they didn't like in which they then demonstrate some sorta overly bitch ass sensitive behavior and want to arrest him....(acting on pure emotions like bitches)..
People are not free to express themselves in america?....Don't get me wrong the dude is to be partially blamed but as law enforcers and "protectors of the public" these cops fail and I have place 90% of the blame on them for not exercising due diligence and professionalism from the very beginning which could have prevented this...

The cops probably told the guy to get across the street or step back a few times. If he doesn't comply he is obstructing them and their investigation or whatever they were doing. They can arrest him for that.
Does anyone know why they were there in the first place?

Easy for you to say from your desk but do you have any legal training? Any Police training? Any shred of credibility for your claims of negligence? Or are you just spouting off because they didn't do what you would have done.

Dog didn't harm anyone. Dog got killed. Guy didn't do anything wrong. Guy got arrested. Nothing right about this situation.

So if somebody puts a gun to your head, it's not okay to shoot them because they haven't harmed anyone yet? (Referring to dog situation ofc)
eh? Let's try this: Instead of saying, somebody puts a gun to your head. Would you do the same thing to an aggressive human? Shoot first, ask questions later well, if they live?
The dog Just jumped out and barked at the officers. That's Just a warning from the dog And nothing else.
People have those kinds of dogs for a reason; so if it's lunging at you, you know damn well why it is.
What's the difference between a guard dog attacking someone to protect their owner and a mother bear attacking someone to protect her cubs? You know what the animal's intent is; so you take PREVENTATIVE measures to stop it from happening.
I'm not saying what they did was the right choice, because there could have been better ways to handle it. But saying the dog shouldn't have been shot because it didn't hurt anybody YET isn't right either.

If the dog was trained or the windows up everything would have been fine..for the dog at least. The issue is people are afraid of large dogs because they don't know how to handle them.
I had a 85LB/ 38KG German Shepherd bred in mostly black, people were farking terrified of him. He did look scary and he was on the aggressive side but I had trained him well enough to be gentle and passive when I needed him to be. A Rottie could be barking at him 1 foot away and I could tell him to sit and be quiet and he would obey without hesitation.
Training would have saved this dog's life. Unfortunately the owner wasn't capable of doing so.
Aside from that alone there's another dozen things wrong with this entire situation.
A. I fcking hate those f4ggots who are recording everything the police is doing
Honestly, this type of shit NEEDS to be recorded. Police impunity needs to stop ASAP. It's not because you have a badge on your chest that you are allowed to shoot dogs, taze innocents or pepper spray passive citizens.
My two cents on this event:
1) Yes the black guy was being annoying, but if being annoying was a motive for arrest, a shit tons of people would be in jail. 2) Arresting said black guy because he was "obstructing police work" is a very very shady motive. 3) The black guy didnt deserve an arrest, maybe one police officer could've told him to f*ck off and go to the other side of the street. 4) Right when the dog comes out of the car, all they had to do is un-handcuff the dude (which is in no way showing any signs of agressivity) and tell him to calm his dog or whatever 5) This is exactly why people need to film the police 6) I hope this mofo gets fired ASAP. 7) People need to keep filming police interventions.
Honestly, I already hate police forces for being compulsive liars, manipulative freaks and in general dishonest people. This video just adds fuel to the fire.

Police side - They were in 'danger' and so self defense is necessary. Didn't need to arrest the guy.
Citizen side - Being obnoxious while recording. Sure he put the dog back into the car and it jumped out, but he was being cooperative.
The one problem I have is once the dog started barking and trying to get out the car the police should have had the guy calm the dog down. Instead? They continue to pose a threat that the dog recognized. Situation could have been avoided. Now I hope the guy sues the city and the officer gets fired or at the very least suspended. Piss poor way how it was handled and considering someone recorded the recorder? Ha, at least someone up top will see it.

So apparently this police force has a bunch of dirty bitch ass power hungry cops which includes the asswhipe who shot the dog.... They cost their precinct 1 million dollars with their brutality back in 2009...
Quoted from the article linked below: "The Hawthorne Police Department paid One Million Dollars to a Settle Lawsuit in which it was alleged a man was kicked in the face while handcuffed and then falsely prosecuted along with his wife to cover up the brutality. Evidence the plaintiffs were prepared to present at trial included a photograph of an officer appearing to kick the handcuffed plaintiff in the face and a surveillance video allegedly depicting officers high-fiving each other as the injured plaintiff suffered from a broken jaw. I'm not a fan of the cops as much as the next guy, but if I was a cop, mid arrest, and a dog just jumped out of a car window and was coming towards me in a threatening way, I'm reaching for my gun.

I'm pretty sure, if we were all together in the same place in real life discussion about this, someone would have took out a gun and point to the opposing person lol
