Thought all that venus stuff fell through when founders were found to be botting and whatnot

Wrong.

Venus just kinda died out slowly and the founders went to go play Aion. Et tu Stacie?

Also, JM made it easier for you to get suns and novas through in game effort instead of drop luck with Forgotten World, etc. Things have changed in the 5 years since you played. lol

Many things may have changed over 5 years but I know how this gig works.

  • Best friends bot and get away with it on the hush hush and its okay.
  • People get hacked and lose everything; so its OK if a new toon is botted up.
  • This person bought powerleveling and they botted the toon. Not his fault.
  • This other person babysits so hes never caught - so its okay.
  • This person "used to bot".
  • This other person "botted, but doesn't play anymore regardless".
  • This person bots, but hes our strongest new member so we'll let it slide until someone complains.
  • Peeps botting on alts, but not mains so its OK

That will never change. This is 'legit guilds'. Who my toon "was" is irrelevant. I know how this functions. I do know people were busted for botting. I think all the old schoolers know it, who, and when that went down. I know there was a vent recording as well to just -one- of the past incidents.

My message: IMO legit guild/movement/union means legit. It doesn't mean "mostly legit for face value with the above exceptions." That means no one in legit guild / union bots. Period.

You either do, or do not do. Not try.

For this reason I love the game I left for.

Oh a bot.

Done.

But the best part of it? I myself have never, had to do that. Once.

Wow Bots - Take ur pick...

That fact that someone may have botted in the past doesnt mean that they are branded botter for life. lol People reroll a new char on a new server and as far as anyone is concerned, they are legit until they go back to botting.

Wow is a fine game with lots of people. My own friends and I do not play it because while there are few botters, it's a pretty tame game compared to SRO and some of us like that constant contention and griefing. *shrug* I dont think either game is better or worse, just different strokes for different folks.

As for your little list of "reasons", none of them apply and none of them are deemed valid by anyone. Botting is botting. Avalon, nor anyone else in the union, have ever used these as excuses for botting post Xian, which I am sure is where your objections arise from.

Et tu literally means, "and you also" or "you too" in Latin. Sorry, thought it was pretty common, the betrayal connotation wasnt intended.

the excuses arent expected to be an external confirmation but an internal reflection of the individual.
dammit Ryoko, why werent you this vocal about this shit when they were essentially running this forum? maybe not officially, but if they didnt like something or someone it managed to change.
forgive me if i speak a disrespect.

+1. If the person botted in the past and isn't botting for now, it doesn't really mean much. It's because, inside their heads, they made the conscious decision to bot and to lie to all their friends about it. Nothing can change that.

There is a huge difference between "being legit for the sake of being legit" versus "being legit just because you don't want to be alienated but you'd really prefer botting cuz you have a life".

Well, for the last four years we have had a clean slate policy. If you reroll and start over with a new char, then your past is forgiven until you screw up.

"“The stupid neither forgive nor forget; the naive forgive and forget; the wise forgive but do not forget.” - Thomas S. Szasz

No one is ever asking anyone to forget, we all know that isnt possible, but we do forgive those who reroll.

There was only ever 3 working bot vers in WoW.

  • Glider - which is long gone since many years ago, stamped out by blizzard and the game warden.
  • The new sgather bot - which blizz well aware of, and what they will do is a giant mass bannination of 5-10K accounts as always, then game warden will stomp that one
  • The BG bot - which most don't care about so it surfaces often. The real PVP gear comes from arena, not BG's.

They "exist" yes. But lets compare.

Wow: I've never seen a bot myself in 5 years.
SRO: Grinding in a cave every day next to 4 bots.

But in the bigger picture, something gets done about it. Thats the real point. You can't click an ingame GM icon in SRO and write a mail to a game master and have a botter banned the same day. You never will have those levels of support in a Korean, F2P game. And I dont think joymax would do it because they'd lose money in that arrangement.

Outside of that, theres little gain by botting in WoW. The good equipment doesn't drop from quest mobs. The gear that is tradable is extremely rare and not as good regardless. WoW doesn't have "skill points" to bot like SRO does. And getting 80-85 takes 3 days.

In short, botting won't make your char stronger in wow. Neither will buying gold. Only effort. You can ebay to become stronger, so long as nobody clicks the ingame GM icon and reports you for it, thus getting the account banned after spending all that money.

Not to be confused, I am not comparing the "games" themself or the play value of these games. I'm bored right now in wow with the new xpac, because I decided to not raid 4hrsx4days a week so theres nothing for me to do. I've been playing D2.

Simply that one of them is ran by a real company that actually cares. If JM cared about the issue and fixed it, more people like me would play it.

Yarr especially combined with the clipit. They'll fix it though. But they'll do it in a 'pull the carpet out' fassion and snare as many abusers as they can. The last forum hint basically said 'Stop worrying, its coming'
