I will never deny that there is more to this world than just humans (animals/plants and all that shit) but to believe that somewhere out there a guy on a cloud is controlling everything, choosing ones faith and all in all created everything on this planet is just... well stupid.

It's natural this way. The fact that people are less religious in developed countries is visible to anyone. In third world countries like my own, many people still hold strong to their faith.
For example, 23% of Sweden's inhabitants declare themselves atheists. In Romania, less than 1% of inhabitants declare themselves atheists. Does this prove what I am trying to say?
Or Holland, for example. Some sources claim 39% of dutch people consider themselves atheists.
@Moshe & everyone else:
I, for one, have tried to detach myself from the ideas that were passed on to me by my society. It doesn't matter if the ideas were religious or atheistic, or whatever. It just made sense to me that I should search for myself, and find out what I think is true, and worth considering.
When I retired from the moderating Staff, I decided I wanted to become a priest for a while, and find out if the religious aspect of my society suits me. It didn't.
Atheism doesn't, either. I haven't come to establish a philosophy of my own, or, at least, some ideology that I would find compatible with the way I understand reality. I have too little experience for that, because I'm relatively young; I've just turned 18. Experience will come in time, of course.
tl;dr version: I'm dissatisfied with an philosophical or ideological system that has been offered to me so far. I'm looking for my own; for this, I need an open mind. There are so many things out there, and I wouldn't want to miss anything by narrowing my mind.

I'm living in Eastern Europe, and yes, I'd agree with you, if you ask someone older than 50 he will most likely say yes, but our youth pretty much denies God, I dont know one person that is religious, but maybe that changes over time.

Like Nitro said, that basically means that the more we know, the more advanced the society we're part of is, people are less likely to be religious.
But I have to recognize that you were right when you said that there was a difference between Western and Eastern European Societies, I wasn't looking at it the same way you were.
the problem with religion and it's perception is simply the fact that very few choose to go beyond the periphery. ideas such as "I don't want to get burned in HELL" or "somewhere out there a guy on a cloud is controlling everything, choosing ones faith and all in all created everything on this planet" and "god told me to charge money in exchange for spiritual clensing, so I'm a religious dignitary till someone can prove otherwise." are what i define as periphery.
very few choose to ditch all that they have been told and actually try living according to the precepts of whatever path they choose. whenever a "path" fails to provide an appropriate answer for whatever circumstance they are in, very few choose to keep searching or admit that no "path" provides an answer. very few realize that the answer they found by taking a different path was already in the other one, just either de-emphasized or presented in a different way understandable only to those who share the same viewpoint through cultural, social, physical, and spiritual experiences.
religion is more philosophical and enlightening than you think. the major players of the enlightenment and scientific thought in general were/are religious.
basically. when a person decides to seek what matters in life and find answers to life's universally shared questions, (s)he finds a way to represent what (s)he has discovered, finds it difficult to use different words to represent the same image and portray the exact same meaning, and gets stuck with religion.
that being said. atheism is as much a religion as christianity, islam, buddhism, hinduism, zoroastrianism, bahaism, and whatever else. (and just to throw it in. even a relativists subscribes to relativism only in his head. question him/her and you will see)
i'm a Christian, but like the Jews, I believe there are multiple paths to God, including atheism. all i have to say is. only the fool says in HIS HEART (not head or mouth) that there is no God. no one knows another's heart. so. quit being judgmental and consider why a person believes what (s)he believes.

exactly as it is presented here and what the general public as well as scholars define it as and as oh so very slightly elaborated on in my post where i say atheism is a religion. essentially. webster's fourth definition: a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith.
