No shit, which is why pfarming is necessary unless you want to 9 gap at 100+. SP quests give SP sure, but not enough to FF real quick.

Haha.. Very good point indeed. That term needs to be changed. lol.

The power-leveling system is fine anyway. This will help a guild or union or circle of friends to grow together. Some players also making money out of it. So not bad at all. But please we can excluded scammers (they always exists). :)

There is no "Power Leveling" system in SRO. There is a party system, and an Academy System that people abuse in order to power level. Everyone in the party should be doing their part to contribute to the leveling, not just sitting on horses... :banghead:

Here's a thought... Maybe Joymax is making the exp and sp rates so insanely high because they don't WANT everyone to be fully farmed and capped? The longer that players stay in the game (slower leveling) the more they'll spend on silk (in the long run) trying to get to the top.

Besides, if there was a somewhat more even distribution of player levels in the game (say 60% around lvl 50-80, 10% 90-cap, 20% lvl 20 - 50, 10% below 10...) there would be more for people to do all around the game. More chance for lower levels to compete, more variety of trade runs, etc. If 90% of the server is at or near cap because of botting, plvl, etc., the few that are left 'at the bottom' don't stand a chance and eventually turn to cheating.

I agree with PROMETHEOUS...tell us how what he said doesn't make any sense and not just show that you disagree by asking questions...explain.....

I remember when you couldn't "Power level" in the game.....everyone had to find a spot (mostly bandit den) to SP farm. And you had to do it by hand for yourself. Joymax created the possibility to be power leveled when they added the euro patch...which was kinda retarded..

I don't know if they did it because they wanted players who play Euro chars to have an easier time getting caught up with the rest of the original community. Its not like Euro chars needed it anyways because they are good at leveling fast in parties...

Either way Joymax should'av left the game how it was in terms of not being able to get power leveled...because there is no mid-level content anymore in the game....nobody grinds the mid level quest anymore they just sit on a horse till level 70+.

It is the community of a game (especially mmorpgs) that makes the game fun...take away or reduce the community and it becomes dull.

This makes me think if being fully farmed was ever possible. That the limitations were originally set to force people to specialize in their trees rather than become the jack of all trades as they are today. Sounds interesting.. Although people find ways to work around this boundary (which I'd say is the the death of SRO).

Then again, Joymax is funky

It was possible at 60 cap without to much farming =] lol

TBH, I doubt Joymax ever planned this out. The game is laughable, but the original design was very very nice. Although the community only cares about FF Max level characters, but you could put some blame on Joymax for outrageous requirements and not administrating the game. Maybe they made it for bots? Were originally going to make people specialize in trees? Or Joymax has no friggin' clue what they're doing and are just chugging crap out (and happy about the money they're making)?

Probably not too difficult in the 60 cap, but I tend to agree that being fully farmed, the 'jack of all trades' was never the intent. Otherwise, why have builds at all if everyone just aspires to be everything? Pick a race, character, weapon, and skills that you like and get 'really good' at it. I suppose you could pick a 'Hybrid Chinese Everything Blader Nuker with a spear' but then don't complain when you have to farm 7 billion SP to get the build you want.

Even if you aren't a "jack of all trades" the sp requirement is still horrendous.

Suppose you wanted to be a 110 FF 1h warrior. That still requires 1,042,369 sp. In the 5 years I've played sro, the combined sp I've gotten from all characters I've ever played is around 500k.

Of course, you could say that no one is forcing us to get to cap and this is true, but this would mean that the job system, fortress war, and alexandria are only for bots.

Besides, what is the problem with making it easier for everyone to reach cap by lowering the sp requirements? Jobbing and fortress wars would become much more active. Joymax doesn't HAVE to make most of its money by selling exp tickets. It can instead focus on making more silk items that would be desirable to capped users.

if 1 million-ish sp is all you need to be a 110 ff 1h warrior, farming is unneccessary. simply playing from lvl 20 - 100 with a 4 lvl gap gives you 800 thousandish. throw in one to 3 lvls of an extra gap or two and you'll have your 1 million-ish.

and that's from plain grinding. throw in the quests which you are SUPPOSED to do (so you grind and get a reward a the same time, be it exp/sp points or money) and it'll be no problem.

but to do this. you must first accept that getting to 110 is a long term goal without a 3 month deadline. if this was the mentality of the community, there would be a whooole not more "mid-level" partying and questing and no need to be the ultimate. when the majority of the game players are at incredibly high levels, the rest feel compelled to get that high as well and resort to "cheating", whatever form that may take.

PROMETHEUS's earlier 'proposition' makes a whooole lotta sense.

Thank you! At least someone understands. :D

Not if you spread the SP collection out across all 110 levels as Ch4otik suggested, rather than screaming your way to 110 and then trying to farm 1 million SP at the end. Be patient.

Who said the job system, fortress war are only for extremely high level players? If 90% of the server population is lvl 40-60 (for example) then most of the jobs and fortress war would be done by those players. The capped players would only matter on a case by case basis. They can't cover the entire map at once 24x7.

Jobbing would be much more active at lower levels if cheating wasn't so rampant throughout the server. You know... if people actually PLAYED the game. People are just impatient.

have you tried lvling at a 4 gap 80+.. it makes no sense to make a game dependent on botting to cap and even max out minimum skills and then ban ppl for it. And that 1mil SP.. you make it sound easy.. With an auto relog 24/7 bot maybe.. But for ppl that actually have to press the keys and look at the screen, that takes a ridiculous amount of time. The way I see it, ppl that claim the haul to cap and being FF is easy are most likely closet botting bitches. And I stress the bolded. Don't get offended unless your one of those ^_-

I'd like to think of myself as pretty patient, but still.. only 500k sp in 5 years -___-.

The only difference in this scenario is that high level players would not be able to reach as high a level, but they would still be the dominant players. The lower level players still would not stand a chance... until they got to the higher level of course. The scenario is more savory to the real player because they too can achieve that level.

Quote:

You don't need to cover the entire map, all it takes is 8 high level strategically placed thieves to effectively shut down trades server wide.

Quote:

It still wouldn't be active, the high levels at the lower and more achievable high level mark of 60 would continue being dominant. There is no place for low levels in jobbing still. A level 50 and below hunter/trader/thief will still get owned in one hit by a lvl 60 camping the city entrance. The issue is in the job/fortress war system itself, not the level cap.

Totally agree. It's not easy at all. At my rate, it would take 10 years to get 1 mil sp.

When I used to play, I had a 3-5 gap on my str blader from lvl 1 through lvl 54 when I quit. Every time I leveled, I had enough SP to level up the skills I wanted. I would have been able to do more, but I also donated SP to our guild at different times, and even reallocated skills via the cursed heart quest (which costs SP in the long run). Mind you, this was over a spread of about 2 and a half years of MINIMAL playing. I was very inactive, logging maybe 2-4 hours a week the whole time.

If I was more active, and didn't donate my SP or reallocate skills like I was doing, I would be a lot better off on my blader. Sure, it takes a while, but it's not hard. It would have gone a lot quicker, like I said, if I was more active.

I understand you're talking about 80+, but with SP tickets, various quests that give SP rewards, and the like, it should make gaining SP at 80+ a bit better.

As for lvl 60 thieves camping strategic locations to 'shut down' the server's jobs, that works if all the traders are working by themselves, mindlessly moving trade goods from city to city. Traders can work together. Send scouts, decoys... Get the thieves to move to try and get that trade. If the thief moves, another trader may be able to get through. 8 thieves can be placed, but 8 hunters can be placed as well to keep the thieves busy. All 8 thieves won't necessarily be online at the same time 24x7. Seems to me no one even tries. They just cry and complain that "it's hard". It was that way even back in '06-'07 when trading was more active. Traders stuck to the main routes and cried that thieves always killed them. No creativity...

However, even if every single person in the server was lvl 110, there would still be a group of dominant players who could potentially 'shut down' the server... until people start getting more creative in HOW they trade (or hunt, or thief).

If people were suppose to pay money for it, it would be P2P not F2P. If exp tickets and Sp tickets were more useful I would buy them. Cause so far even if I were to play the 5 hours on a prem +, that would amount to 10 hours and a bot does 24 hours... I have had my character for over 3 years now. Total playtime would amount to prolly only a little over 1 1/2 years cause I stopped playing for about a year, and then like 4 months shortly after that again. I am sitting on 87 still.. and the biggest gap I've used on one full lvl was 3 since I got above lvl 30. SP wasn't much of an issue back then cause I did buy a prem and prem + before which gave me some. Now, the 20k SP is not gonna do SHIT for people above lvl 90. Another thing I think is laughable is ppl turning a blind eye to the obvious botters still here on SRF.. for instance people with 2 or more 110 chars that are decently farmed.

This game would be MUCH better off if they had Stopped at 90 or 100 Cap. 70 was still the best imo. Not easy to get to, but not impossible if you have a life. SRO is made for no lifers and botters.

It would have gone a lot quicker, like I said, if I was more active.

this is what is people refuse to understand. when i was reaaallly active, meaning i played about 6 hrs a week, it took me about 4 or 5 months to get to lvl 61 as an archer. i chose to buy the pickup pet cause it made things easier for me. and i used those beginner exp tickets somewhere between 36 and 40 cuz that was the hump for me.

now that i'm a whoooole lot less active, meaning an hour or less per week, it's been two months and my wiz/bard build is at lvl 37.
so. suck it up folks.

and yes, you're right. i am yet to play at 80+, but we'll see how that goes when I decide to in another year+ or so.
though i enjoy it a lot and would definitely like to see a lot more competent party play, my life is not dependent on this game :-P

One single skill takes over 5k at my lvl even...

I didn't say you "should" pay for SRO. I just said the option is there. I think it really should be hard (or take a long time) to get to cap and/or fully farmed. Spread the players out more evenly across the levels, and then SP at lvl 100+ wouldn't be nearly as much of an issue because not so many people are dealing with it.

So why don't you expose them in EB? Having 2 or more 110 farmed characters doesn't automatically mean you're a botter. The accounts could have been given to you after someone worked hard on them for 5 years. I could just list 5 fake characters in my SRF sig...

Reaaaallly active at 6 hrs a week? I've seen people a LOT more active than that. I have always considered myself barely active, even when I played an hour a day (about 6 hrs a week).

Lost track of who said it and where, but

A. Leveling at a 4gap gets mind numbingly boring at 4x alone. 5x+ yeah, have fun with that.

B. Doing quests will level you up faster, true, but they'll also get you less sp in the long run, since the quests give a paltry amount of sp as an award (except for that one that I heard gives a shitload at cap.)

Totally agree. It's not easy at all. At my rate, it would take 10 years to get 1 mil sp.

It's called having a Life. But all the closet botters here claim it's easy..

It's actually easy if you always have an active party plus SP Ticket and Premium/Pick Pet ofc (and if you grind some hrs a day with long pauses ofc otherwise ppl get bored very fast (well thats the biggest problem at legit pts at all)). With full EUR pt you can farm alot at any lvl with any gap. But ya, would take lot of time too.
Of course it's another thing to farm solo and grind without party, especially with any chn...

and about that p2p thing. IF you rlly want to farm lot of sp in some months and not years you need to pay. ;P

To this... ppl were too fast at cap, always until now due to botting 24/7. But those ppl bought most Silk since more and more legit ppl stopped playing who werent capped so Joymax started to update the game cause they expected more money from those botters who pay most of their income....

Ppl haven't been hitting 110 for very long, the chances of someone having 2 for themselves is ridiculous. They then "joke" about playing 24/7. Hard to expose ppl when I only play when I have absolutely nothing else to do, which is less than a day a week lol. And even then it's only CTF usually on my 24 warlock >.> I'm sure if the supposed In-game bot comes out, we will see how many closet botters SRF has. My point is that SRO has become a game for ppl with No Life, or Mandatory botting for newcomers. A new player isn't gonna pick up this game and get it down in under a year. Most mmo's in under a year is easy for at least 1 char. SRO's exp/sp rate is the only complaint I actually have about in-game mechanics. That's prolly one of the biggest reasons ppl quit. Simple solution would be increase the xp output of all mobs. Maybe then some legits can get to cap while still having a life.

Like MrJoey said, quests don't even give more than 3% for most Roc mountain quests, and under 1% in the cave so far up to lvl 85 quests. They only help a little after lvl 50, and then increasingly useless after 70. One level is all the quests in between 80-100 would prolly amount to. Maybe not even that.

Your talking about pt grinding only. Chn were not intended for pt play, Euro were. Plus pt play isn't an option except on a new server. Which even then after about a month, you will barely find a pt under lvl 60. And there is a big difference between being active and having no life. Being active means you play regularly. Having no life means you prolly skip a lot of daily routines that most ppl go through just to play.

Why have such a concern for hitting cap? If everyone was more concerned with just having fun with friends than just hitting cap, maybe things would be better in this game. It's the journey that matters, not the destination. I can have as much fun on my lvl 54 blader as I can on an 83 bard/cleric (more so on the blader because bladers are awesome!). Maybe I just play (or played) the game differently.

If Chinese were not intended for party play, they wouldn't have had a party system when it was Chinese only. Euro characters may work better in parties, but Chinese can party too. You'll level faster in Chinese parties than solo, even if it's not as fast as European. Chinese do have some skills for party play (force series for example) even if those skills aren't as good as bard/cleric skills. Chinese don't have to solo.

And all Chinese party sounds interesting, especially seeing force tree in play. But the community has been much of a selfish one from the get-go or at least when I started playing. I remember some talks of force and that it wasn't suitable to use because it was 'broken.' That force healing did not come up to par with potions. I remember being able to revive people labeled you as a saint. Although, the solo mentality had a stronghold to begin with and so the idea of leveling force high up was seen as a waste... This just makes me want to start/experiement a Chinese party with force :)

Either Joymax maintained the game for botters or they had in mind that people would specialize heavily in late game. And so fully farm (comparing today) is imaginary in the hands of a handgrinder.

Maybe I should have clarified on jacks of all trade. Rather than getting every skill in one tree, you get an handful. Essentially someone who isn't fully farmed in their trees, not someone who grabs every tree. I say Joymax should stop bringing up the cap and start refining the game. I don't really care who botted in the past, as long as they make the game better today, we'll get players who'd willingly play from head to toe without a bot. And so the community comes alive!

I can dream, Silkroad is a good game

@prometheus. lol. yes. i consider 6 hrs a day reaally active for me. only in my 20's but i've got a busy life :-P

and yes. specialization was definitely in the plan from the beginning, not picking 4 to 5 trees. i think they prolly shoulda did the chinese like the euro, you know. with the whole two mastery points per level. but. what's done is done.

@Zing. hahaha. yes. i remember the "force saints". they were soooo awesome back when i had absolutely no idea that you could scroll down on the skill pages :-D

Chinese resurrection skills... yeah I remember those. They were fun. It was annoying when people laid on the ground shouting RRRESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS over and over, but it was nice to actually res the people who didn't beg for it.

It was also fun to res traders after I rob them, then kill them again.

If I ever go back to play this game, and I somehow get all my skills up to date, I might start leveling up my force tree again, at least for the healing circles and resurrection.
