Yes, but this time it is not just a post from mmosite without a source.

I play kSRO and today during a trade a korean hunter told us that it has been officially announced for the end of 2011 in Korea. SO of course I asked for a source, etc.

Here is official news from the CEO of Joymax, published in a korean newspaper:
http://www.etoday.kr/news/section/newsview.php?TM=news&SM=0199&idxno=259460

You can translate it with Google yourself as I am too lazy to translate it by hand at the moment but the main information to be pulled out of this is that Joymax is working on Silkroad Online 2 and they are planning it for the international market. Then they talk about how they incorperated further language support in iSRO and they talk about setting up and "International CS Center", not sure what that is. At the end they give statistics that show how Joymax increasingly made money every year: 8 billion "Won" profit in 2006 (6,962,700 USD), exceeding 17.4 billion Won in 2007 (15,143,872 USD), and roughly 31.1 billion Won in 2008 (27,067,496 USD). The interview was taken at the end of 2009 so there is no info about the previous year yet.

Personally for me it was kinda sad I never got to make it in SRO 1. All the crap that joymax did forced me and my friends to quit. Even tho I've returned occasionally I was only trying to hopelessly hang on to the past. But if this SRO2 is true, then its a chance to start over again. I just hope Joymax uses iSRO1 as an example of what not to do when managing a game.

wonder if it is another game, if i can hope that most new players join that and leave sro1 behind and gold bots move with them lol

well that is if sro1 is going to be continued... but im thinking sro2 is another way of saying sro islam extension and legends just translates to a new verison lol

do our old characters get transferred over to SRO2?
does this mean we should stop working on our current characters o.O?

I am opened for any kind of game, I want only thing :

No bots !!!

I left silkroad because bots, I mean seriusly, why would I play a game where others cheating around me ?

If bots will not allowed in sro2 it will be gladly welcomed by me. If bots will be there I'll shorly quit that game too.

I wanted to play Aion, but my friends are already warned me.

The thing what separates SRO from looking like all of other MMOs are the graphics. I don't want it to be like all other MMOs.

Also, the map must be same, because it wouldn't be Silkraod if it wouldn't have all the areas.

Maybe they're making just a new engine for SRO, because the big update has too much content for the old engine to work properly. If they do so, the chars will remain, but there would be less lag.

Although SRO looks better than most MMOs of its generation, it still needs a revamp to keep up with the new generation games. There are some issues with jumping, emotions, water effects, WASD movement, shadows, daytime/nighttime transitions, and seasonal transitions that could be added(even with the current engine).

I doubt the characters will remain. It is better for JOYMAX if everyone starts from the beginning because they get more money that way.

If I am reading correctly they have in their piggy bank a total of $27M dollars, that can create a whole lotta game, hell even $5 can. The average cost of development for a Ubisoft title is between 6~12m dollars.

If it was up to me, I would use the UT3 engine, it is capable of so much and is possibly the easist engine to use for PC games (hell even I can make a map resemble Jangan within a days work). On top of that the UT3 is very good with scaling depending on how good your computer is, it doesnt matter if your PC is ancient it will probably still run the game just fine. Now onto what the UT3 engine can do with a game like Silkroad.

Graphics
For those of you who dont know what the UT3 engine can do in terms of graphics. Think nearly every next gen that has come out one of the best examples for graphics being Batman Arkham Asylum and Blade & Soul.

Just the sheer thought of Silkroad looking similar in graphics quality to those games makes me go into an unwavering state of daydreaming. Imagine Jangan with all the buildings having indoor sections, each and every texture having depth, bump mapping and per pixel lighting while its a beautiful sunny day, the sunlight casting shadows off the trees that are blowing in weather specific and dynamic winds. Imagine the sands of Taklamakan shimmering with light from the bright sun, the spiral hills of Roc Mountain coming alive due to the lighting. There is so much good lighting can do and using this particular engine for Silkroad would make this game absolutely gorgeous and unique.

Physics
Physics is one thing that brings games to life, instead of canned animations imagine the objects/monsters/people you interct, bash, kill or do whatever to always react diffrently and according to real time physics. A good example of this is trampling someone with a horse and knocking down or stumbling your target, of course things being physics based, if you are hit you will fall off the horse in a spectacular fashion. Imagine destructable environments, fire nukes scorching grass and trees on its way to the target, Wizards absolutely desemating its sorroundings with AoE's, knockback attacks sending your enemy flying like a ragdoll upon death. All this would bring the game to life and would make the experience different each time you'd login.

Physics can also have fun implications to quests (I know SRO isnt big on quests and this may be unrealistic knowing Joymax) but hear me out, imagine quests making you have to literarly down a monster, tie it to a horse and drag it back into town, all the way it being affected by the sorroundings and elements making you have to take care to bring it back intact. There are probably a lot more ideas that could work around the engine to have fun new quest types that require some form of skill and precision.

Oh and lets not forgot 1 hitting someone with Offering and their lifeless body flies 20 feet away. Big bada boom indeed.

Classes/Combinations & Traits
This is a new concept that I thought of, it would intially need a lot of balancing work to be done in order for it to be viable but heres how it goes. The premise of the idea is that each class combination receives a trait that levels up as you do. For example;

Warrior/Warlock Class Traits

Passive: +10% MP and +5% MP Regeneration at Lv 1
Now you may think this isnt such a useful stat, but as most Warlocks know, their warlock counterpart is quite thirsty for mana if you are casting debuffs/spells and as this is a pure strength class it just goes to compliment the class combination and doesnt give an overpowered advantage.

Passive 2:5% Chance to recover 25% of the attackers damage dealt to you Lv 1
Simple reasoning for this, Warrior Warlocs although very strong in 1vs1 battles they lack the means to survive being hit by multiple enemies other than CC'ing (Sleep,Stunning) the other enemies and focusing on one. This passive compliments them and gives Warrior/Warlocks being focus fired a chance to recover some of the damage dealt to them.

Player may only choose one and there is no turning back (Kinda like stat distribution)

Active Buff:Increase chance of recovering health from receiving attacks (As above) by 10% however, both defences are reduced by 50% while buff is active (1 Minute) Lv 1

Active Attack:Convert 95% of your current MP to Absolute damage Lv 1 (1 Min cooldown)
This means that if the Warrior/Warlock is spamming debuffs and running low on Mana its power will not be as potent compared to it being used as the initial strike.

I'm sure you lot can be a lot more creative but this is just giving you an idea of what could spice up class combinations and really make everyone a unique build. And sorry but there is no TL;DR version you're just gonna have to stop having ADHD. Thank you for reading.

This is Joymax's one time chance to make SRO without bots.
I hope they take it and make a game that is truly worth playing. If they raise the experience requirements and fix all the other problems with Silkroad, except for the Graphics, this should be one heck of a great game.

They increasingly made money every year even with the current state of iSRO. Why would anyone here think they will change their strategy?

All they have to do is update the graphics and keep everything the same, including the shitty bot management. In the end, they'll still get idiots who will gladly pay for a game where skill is based on the amount of money one is willing to spend. The player base has and is giving Joymax a clear message: it is perfectly fine to sabotage their game so long as they're making money.

It's a win for them, and that's all that matters.

Well, if there is a Sro 2 i'd definitely want to try it, unfortunately. Though I would know better then to put money and effort into it this time.

I think the cartoony aspect is what I liked about SRO...
When games begin to look " to real", they just seem boring...
Why would I want a realistic game when I live real life everyday?

I wouldn't say cartoony, but yeah, the graphics is where it's at.

TBH if they don't do a full database wipe i'm not even going to bother downloading it. It doesn't matter if botters can't use their software anymore, they'll still have their FF capped characters, SUN items and bils of gold. It'll take years for legit players to catch up to them.

And what with all the legits that invested a lot into the game to be able compete with these sun millionaires? So you're saying my 6b gold I currently own should be just erased from the database along with my character and start from scratch? Never going to happen.

The only chance to prevent bot infestation is if SRO2 was P2P, yes there will be bots but nothing compare to any f2p mmo.

Wow. Just Wow. Get over it, your character and gold are the property of Joymax, they can take it away and never give you a reason why.

As long SRO1 is profitable, they will let you to keep botting, buying silk and buying gold, don't worry, they won't stop you from giving them money. SRO1 will continue as long as you want to cheat your way through it.

SRO2 seems is not an expansion or they would have anounced it as a new legend. Trasferring characters from SRO1 to SRO2 is the dumbest thing I've read in a gaming forum this entire 2009 and up to now. That was just incredibly dumb. Point of SRO2 is to get old players who SRO1 years ago to come back and to get new players. Who the hell would join SRO2 if there are already level 110s in it and take years to catch up? It just screams botting if that were to happen, as to hand grind would take at least a year to catch up. That's just dumb.

Use your brain. And stop obsessing over your in game gold, it's not real. Don't worry, you'll be able to buy it back again anyways. I can't think of an MMO where you can't buy the in game currency. No worries, your precious in game gold will be purchaseable in SRO2 also.
