Remember that if joymax serves anyone besides themself it is their customers which are largely botters. If you exploit game mechanics to harras others regardless if they are player or gold bot joymax is within their right to ban you even if it makes them hypocrits.

So in the end if you all have any real succes the likely outcome will be that the legit population on your server will shrink and it will on the whole be a much botter friendlier environment. God I love irony. Anyhow later lemmings.

Excellent point. It's a risk abusing game mechanics (against TOS) to fight the bots. Do it and risk ban. I don't know if anyone was ever banned for setting up lightening thief bot traps before, especially when it was being done on a regular basis on Venus by Avalon Union members and everyone else who participated.

But it's still a risk.

Perhaps a better approach would be for someone to move to Seoul Korea, get a job at Joymax, work up the ranks getting promotions and all until you're high enough to be able to make decisions for the company. Then you can start banning bots... or realize that that's not the company's vision.

I couldn't agree more with ping_lo. Although I feel nothing but sypathy for Jocka and everyone else who is still struggling to take a stand against bots in iSRO, I must say your efforts are pretty much a waste of your time. In my oppinion, the best way to make a difference is to leave SRO in any of its versions. Try to overcome your addiction to it, find another game (God forbid managed by Joymax) or something else to do in your free time. After all it is only a game, a bunch of 1s and 0s drawing pixels on your screen and you WILL leave it eventually.

Umm, the bots took over in 2006 when Joymax stopped updating Game Guard. Sorry, but how about you try a new game. If not, good luck with your fail. A game can only be saved by its moderator.

The deal with venus was that legitimate players from every server flocked to it when it was open. So when it happened there the majority of players were legit and agreed with the tactic. The few botters that were there at the time were SOL and many quit. Not enough complained. You run this on a standard bot infested server if many complain you will get banned and they will fix the exploit.

Well if Joymax is just interested in money, which most companies are, band together as huge of a crowd of legits as you can, playing the game legit, no exploits against other players (bot traps included), and spend as much money as you all can on silk. Overpower the bots with money. If Joymax won't listen to people whining about their (former) largest customers, perhaps they'll listen to the (new) largest customers, the legits, who are playing the game properly and spending the most money.

Then again, there probably aren't enough legits across all the servers, especially those willing to spend money on silk, to spend enough to make a difference.

The only reason why bots are even around is because there is a demand for gold. To really remove bots, there has to be a huge reduction in demand = everyone quite silkroad. Even if moderators try to ban, it's impossible to remove all, and even after being banned, they can just create a new account and start all over again, bots will always be around. Either accept it, or quit the game.

I think that's also one of the reasons why silkroad has been kept free without having to pay a subscription fee.

All im saying is, what you're doing has been done at a much greater scale.
It didn't work.
What ping_lo was trying to say is, JM wouldn't care and u might end up getting yourself banned.

If you put that dedication into learning you could help create something revolutionary instead of trying to fix a game that in reality has a limited life span.

Well...as we all know...we all hate bots...and for those who truly are legit...i got an idea.. I am going to make a specific date, and on that day...we will spawn monsters all around gates of hotan..samarkand..dw..etc. This will be on any version of silkroad and on all servers. If you support this, please post..I think 3-4 days before christmas will be that exact date, More details will be posted.

Steps..
1. Get a couple players 2-3 to spawn monsters on the main bot entrance/exit points.
2. If you cant spawn monsters..do a job run and have the thieves with aoe attack your mount in front of the gates.

FYI ~ Gold botters..and botters...usually are in more then one server..so this will be server wide...to finally try to take a stand.

(If you have questions or anything to say..please post. If this thread was made before..im bringing it back now. If you have negative comments...then please gtfo and dont bother wasting my time. Its time to take a stand. We can also vid this on each server...and maybe joymax will realize...their game is a bunch of bots...

Date: December 20th..All servers..STAND UP NOW! (Tell all your friends..and global about this..we must stop these bots from taking over..)

K i couldnt be arsed to read beyond the first page, its late here and im sleepy.

I would like to take a stand in this.

I dont like bots, I dont think anyone who plays legit does. But honestly, what you are trying to do has not been left untried. Dont you think anyone has tried this before? Ive seen countless tries with stuff like this. Its not gonna stop them and neither will joymax do anything against it.

You spawn mobs on all gates, bot goes out, bot dies, bot goes back to town.
Fine you know, but you may not forgett, when ive seen slave watchers at the gates guarding its kind of hard for the legit players to get out too you know, apart from that the mobs will eventually move which gives a few bots the chance to walk out untouched.

They die and delevel a couple levels, do you think anyone really cares? They dont care, because dying for them is not as bad as dying when you play legit, because the bots dont hand grind and they just turn their bots on and grind it back.
If they die? why should they care, a goldbot, that way gets to farm more gold, a playerbot? well they get to farm more sp.

This attempt is senseless IMO, not that i dont like the idea, it is a pretty nice idea, but its nothing new and like i said its nothing that nobody has tried before.

Joymax? well why should they care?

Basically its kinda like "who gives a shit as long as the amount of money in my wallet is correct i dont care"

They know that there is a bot issue and they know that something needs to be done about it, they know it ruins their game, and by all means, its not like they dont know how we legits feel about it. I imagine joymax doesnt feel that great either with all the bots, since it does ruin their reputation, and why else would they call us out to get on their twitter and facebook and post something nice about them, if not for trying to get new players?
But as bad as they may feel its not gonna change the fact that the money in their wallet is nice and as long as thats going well theres no reason to ban someone whos using a bot, just for doing so. Its giving them money. Just try to get a picture of how much money joymax earn in one year from one player. a legit one? well id guess from daily ticket grinder to complete addict its about 500 - 2k US dollars, per person, in one year. from bots? prolly double the amount, so why do something? i mean honestly, if you created something that people pay alot of money for, would you let them cheat and earn millions a year? or would you willingly cut greatly on your profit and ban the abusers?

All Honest? I would let them cheat, why earn 100 dollar a year when i can earn 100 times the amount of that?

It sucks, thats right, every person whos legit thinks that way. But its not gonna change all these facts. :(

Good luck with this...I recall a few months ago I was noticing slave watchers outside of Hotan, it wasn't too bad at that point because I was 86. But I'll bet the bots felt the impact.

It's been said and done before. Truthfully, the mechanics of the game lend themselves to botting as has been stated. And Joymax used to explicitly state no third party programs then they changed the wording ever so slightly. Not to mention their actions speak louder than words. They used to ban many more bots than they do now. It's not a small undertaking in a bot-friendly environment, so it seems to me they do it right around the same time every year, then it slacks off to almost nothing for the other 6-8 months. I know someone who was legit then decided to bot due to the sp requirements...he made it to 100 and never got banned. Dunno if that was worth the risk.

I'm also pretty sure there are people who just sit there and watch their bot.

Well if Jocka wants to fight bots, there's no harm in it. He just needs to realize that it's been tried many times before and it's not going to make a difference with Joymax.

Joymax already knows about the problem and already knows that many people in the community hate it. All of the posts on their official forums, here at SRF, etc are plenty of evidence for them.

Sure he's trying, but it's been tried before and hasn't worked. If anything, perhaps Joymax could ban legits for exploiting game mechanics. After all, the intent of NPC thieves isn't to kill non trader players with their AOE damage repeatedly.

Moral support for actons in a game run by at best an amoral company filled with immoral players. My moral support goes the where it will do the most good. And anyhow jocka does not need moral support. He needs miracle support. And I am fresh out of miracles.

At any rate bot traps are counter productive. Unless you keep all exits at every town covered all you are doing is saving the gold farmers time deleveling later and increasing lag in town.

Seriously want my moral support? Work to convince everyone on your server to pack up and move to a diff version of SRO. That is a worth while goal. Seriously any customer is 1 to many for joymax. Let their servers rot. Dead servers packed full of soulless AV loaded with worthless pixel gold. That I support. Players trying to do joymax's job for them is silly.

Some day I will do the bot traps also.
I don`t care if it makes a difference, but I think it might be a good way for leaving your char overnight online, why not make a bot trap.

sry this question may sound stupid

what's the diff between player bot and gold bot? i mean both are bots right?

i agree that the SP requirement to be FF is ridiculously high (i need 1.1mil T_T) but i mean its sort of a challenge... Life gives you lemon doesnt mean you must eat it. Life gives you cigeratte doesnt mean you must smoke. So ignoring temptation is kinda impt here as well lol

Sry, I don't give moral support to ppl who do pointless things and things that wouldn't make a difference.

Just like i don't tell my son or daughter that she will eventually become an angel if she/he put enough feathers behind his/her back.

If you really want to do some damage to gold bots, aim their servers. Not their gold bots in game.
