Uhh sorry but lv 8 is like the beginning tutorial, there isn't much anything just the quests.
And umm i never died playing a mage before lv 10, you don't even have to kite much. (After getting your summon as SM you don't need to worry about that)
Also it doesn't force you to party lol, people on the forums are complaining because every class can solo actually quite good. Especially SM and Clerics. (China bots love Glads)
YOu should play the game more, actually you should try Elyos and also if you play on Region 9 ... That place lags like hell

Yay Ayase posted about Spirit Socer
Quote:
From Ayase's Realm:
Football is something that perhaps appeals more commonly to the general public in Europe than North America, but I would hope that in Aion; Spirit Soccer may get universal.
For those of you who are completely confounded by my previous words, let me introduce an in my opinion very innovative activity that recently popped up among Korean players of Aion. To give you the best idea possible of what we're dealing with here I had a little talk with Cori, quite possibly the first one who brought information of Spirit Soccer to us here in the west. Read on.
Ayase: Cori, how did you stumble across this mini-game?
Cori: As an administrator of AionHun the fansite and the YouTube account; it is my daily routine to look for new media related posts on the Korean/Chinese/Japanese - basically all Aion related - sites and fansites to gather and repost them so the community get its daily dose of Aion media. I found the video on a Korean site; it was posted by the legion who "invented" this ingenious game.
Ayase: Could you quickly explain to our readers how it works?
Cori: Simple rules as in soccer, you have two teams and a player acting as the ball. The teams should consist mainly of Spiritmasters so that they can use the 'Fear' skills [Ayase: they have multiple skills with this effect). The teams will then basically try to "fear" the ball to the wall behind the keeper that acts as the goal. Only the team captains can use their AoE Fear skill* as a countermeasure. That's basically it.
[*Ayase: The AoE skill translates from Korean to English roughly as 'Spirit/Scream of Terror', although this is not a finalized English term. I will use this term hereon forth in the blog post.]
Ayase: I know that you decided to call it 'Spirit Soccer', and that some German fansites have gone for ?Fearball?. Was there any specific reasoning behind the name? Which one do you prefer?
Cori: The name Spirit Soccer is basically just a translation from Korean for the news post. As our "audience" is really international I decided to use soccer and not football as in some countries it is linked to a different sport. I saw on a German fansite the name "Fearball" and I must say I like the sound of it although I can't really say I prefer the one or the other. The western gamers might come up with a few other names once they get a hold of the "ball" anyway.
Ayase: Do you think that you will stick to 'Spirit Soccer' for now?
Cori: Most probably as the word soccer is more widely known. Everyone can relate to it, I think.
Ayase: You say that there should mostly be Spiritmasters in there due to their 'Fear' skills; what would you imagine other player classes could contribute with?
Cori: knite on Aionsource had a good idea for Templars. You could make them goalkeepers as they can use their pulling skills to get the ball. As the Korean legion who invented it consists mostly of Spiritmasters the roles of the players were pretty much set, I guess.
Ayase: The general rule appears to be that the skills used, by any class, cannot inflict damage - as that would ?destroy the ball?.
Cori: Most probably, Fear deals no damage nor does the "Scream of Terror"*. Rangers could perhaps use traps to stop the ball.
Let?s have a closer look at this game, shall we?
Spirit Soccer - How it Works:
Two teams with an equal number of players (pref. 4+1) of comparable levels compete in a rectangular arena.
One neutral player of a lower level acts as a neutral 'ball' that may not move or use skills.
Each team has a Team Captain; the only player that may use the skill 'Scream of Terror'*, an area-wide 'Fear' skill that can be obtained through Stigma stones. Ordinary players, even if they are Spiritmasters, may not use this skill.
The teams score points by getting the ?ball' to the opposite end of the arena where a 'goal' is measured out, without inflicting damage to the 'ball' or the opposing team.
The Team Captain will in many cases be a goalkeeper and remain positioned in front of his own goal.
The team with the most points at the end of an agreed timespan wins.
See the following image for an idea of what the playfield may look like under organised circumstances:
Aion Hungary are in fact hosting a video on YouTube where you can see this all in action: YouTube - Aion KOR - Spirit Soccer
I am sure that playing around with different set-ups, formations and rules could make this little mini-game go a long way. Are Spiritmasters the optimal class to use with their 'Fear' skills? Is the best formation 'no formation'? But the question that I ultimately bet is on each one of your lips - will we see a Super Spirit Soccer Clash Tournament in Aion post launch here in the west? I don't know, but in my world community initiatives constitute a grand wave of brilliance and I'm not the one to rule anything out.
That is all for now. Discuss!
Note: some users may not be able to connect to NCsoft's website at the moment for some reason.

Yea, I play in Region 9. Lags a bit. I think that is the only one that is free.
Really? What I read on the forums is most classes have to party to level after 15.
Elyos? No thanks. I tend to stick to evil races in MMORPGs. I saw that Asmodians were dark colored so I assumed that they were evil. lol

I don't know about Asmodians but at lv 17-18 we get a few group quests. Its actually quite awesome, since you can't solo those mobs on your own (Elites ;D) you get a ton of exp from them. Also those quests gibe you some nice items and oh yeah you need to do them because you do some missions there for Verteron. Its tank and slap, Temp or Glads tank, clerics and chanters heals and the rest of DD's do dd. But sorcs are really good for CC with their Sleep.
Region 9 lags a lot for me, i tried a few other regions (on the ones where i have 5 hours free and they didn't lag much, maybe one but thats localization.) So dunno maybes thats why you die because a mob hardly touched me on the newbie lvs playing a mage.
And one more interesting facts: Asmodians think that we are all agrogant money hunggry supermodels and that we are the evil one who are responsible for their bad life. Yeah right =D

yea there r quests at lvl16+ that requires u to party, but u do have the option to not do the quests and grind at some other mobs. archers can solo kite those elite mobs pretty well, sorcerers can semi-kite and solo as well (yes ive seen crazy ppl do this =.=), but a lot harder since u gotta get the stun and sleep skills right and the more powerful spells have casting time.
below lvl10 you really shouldn't die (in fact my 2nd sorcerer didn't die until lvl15 when i pressed the wrong button and fell from the sky >.>), especially a sorcerer. you have the armor spell already so use it, it'll take a few smack for you. most mobs should be almost dead after 1 ice combo and 1 fire combo. remember you also have the DOT atk, and that spell can be casted while running. so when the mob gets close to you, run, and make sure the mobs is under your DOT spell at all time. the binding spell is also really useful for running away.
do expect to die when you are partying tho, there are a lot of tricks to fighting those elites especially when they are all crowded in one place.

I don't know how da realest is dying as a sorc, or mage or whatever.
start off with an ice nuke and monsters should never reach you. (though you can used delayed blast later in the game, same thing should apply)
if two mobs run towards you, run backwards and root one and ice nuke the second. if three come towards you run your ass off unless you're lvl 14+ or so whenever you get the sleep skill.
you don't have to party in this game until you get to your 20s, and even then sorcerers get so many immobilizing skills i could solo elite monsters.
there are so many bots in this chinese version its not even worth playing, there are also tons of hackers, fly hacks and jump hacks are even posted on youtube.
it seems anything that has gameguard or is run by NCSoft is doomed to failure, if this keeps up im not even playing the NA version later this year, itll just be another lineage 2 (or sro). So bot ridden with a gameguard that has never worked;which actually seems was used just to break the game and give the developers an excuse to not do anything, rake in cash, and ignore customers.
anyway, piootr whats the cooldown for flames of hell? that skill seems really OP, good thing they took out magical crit.

Yea, I think I read something about that in my first quest. lol
I always did ice nuke + DoT + fire nuke + chain nuke thing. After the chain nuke they would pretty much be in my face and they'd still have almost half HP remaining. Usually after I died the mob would die like 1 second after me. I died 4 or 5 times from being mobbed. Usually something would respawn why I was killing something or while I was resting causing me to get killed.
Then there is the mission, quest, or whatever that requires you to go to the tombstone and click it to spawn this thing to kill. It attacks fast, hits hard, and I didn't have my range advantage so I was dead in about 4 or 5 seconds. I died 2 times during that quest.
I usually tried to run pass everything to get to my main quest/mission objective so I died many times until I learned that trying that was nearly impossible in most situations.
I was lagging quite a bit during most of the time I played but I don't like to make excuses.
I only did missions from 1-8. Once I got to level 8 it became a bit easier but it was probably because I started doing quests and I only had to kill things my level. HP pots helped a bit. I died once because I fell out the sky.
I don't mind partying to level, I just prefer to solo if possible. I'm pretty selfish so I don't like sharing drops and I don't want to get killed because my party member(s) failed me.
Spoiler!
I'm a level 10 Spiritmaster and I think I'm done leveling. I'll just read and explore the cities a bit. When it is released in NA I will most likely play. I was pretty much sold after I saw the level 10 ceremony thing and your character splashing in water after when you go afk. The amount of content reminds me of WoW, a game I would play if I didn't dislike the art style. I enjoy the attention to detail and wide variety or emotes that make your character not feel lifeless.
My only concern is pretty much what MrFudge said. NCSoft doesn't have a really good track record when it comes to keeping the botting situation under control. Lineage 2 is P2P and run by them and the botting problem is almost as bad as SRO. Gameguard is also trash. I'll probabaly wait a month or two after the game is release before I decide to play to see how they handle the botting situation.

I found Asmodian side really hard, i only played a warrior to lv 8 and yeah i almost died from that tomb ghost. And i died a few times from the other ones... Also you absolutely don't need a party to lv, especially as a SM.

MASSIVE war was goin on today during peak hours(in china). It started with 2 players from one guild on Elyos, and 2 players from another guild on Asmos...then it just escalated.. When I left it was a 30 v 30 full-on brawl. I didn't get pics of the Asmos side, but both armies were impressive:

GMs aren't really put in place to handle bots. They can ban a few bots but their main role is interacting with the community, not banning thousands of bots on each server daily. All they can do is relay the problems to the development team and it is there job to generate counter measures to stop the bots and hacks. Sure the GM team is new but I'm not so sure about the development team...
If you're referring to that article Axeoo7 linked to, that is the Korean version...

To be honest I really have not seen many bots in Chinese aion. Maybe they're all on the Asmos side...but I have only seen a few. Anyway, we can't say much until we start the USA/EU version, and hope that there, bots will be gone.

Thats odd, i never saw anyone complain about the Korean one.The only QQ about i saw 24/7 is on China. And yeah i know GM = Game Mod, but i call everyone that works for that company GM. Also i completely agree that they need to get rid of GameGuard and find better methods.

GM stands for Game Master.
It can stand for "General Motors" if you want, but you can call those people whatever you want. lol

Maybe it has been dealt with already on the Korea version? That article is months old.

I also saw some posts from people that played KAion that CAion and the whole English patch was a scam made by gold sellers to get US people into their game and maybe use their "services".
Also for China you don't need a real ID or Name to play, you can copy and paste anything and write something random if you know how the numbers work. While Korean Aion is connected with the database and they actually check ID's. Even more its interesting that Korea has a ton of people playing it while China has to relay on bots and people from outside to buy their time.

Thanks for the heads up.
Guess I'll read the lore a bit and try to come up with an epic story or something.

Korea is managed by NCSoft, while China is managed by a different company.

Yeah SNDA (or something) and well yeah Korea does their job better. But like i said you can't judge the new people before they even started working.

Yeah china version, region 10 is free for 12-13 days, after that they will probably open a new one and that one would be free. I think china has 30 Regions.
