what is needed in a comp to play silkroad on high settings

Ya after my finals I'm going to sit down clean it out and put it back together then clean/update/adjust what ever the hell I have to in order to hopefully fix the issue =/

I'm running a cheap computer and I can run SRO all High even in towns(except for Hotan)...I think its more about the internet connection ^_^
Current spec:
Intel Pentium Dual-Core
ATI Radeon x1600 Pro Saffire Crossfire(2006-2007 video card)\
2G of DDR2 RAM

I run with shadows on detailed. I did this on my old system, and my current one.

Old system:
AMD Athlon XP 3200+
512 MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM

New system:

In both systems, I ran SRO in Linux (Ubuntu and Gentoo). Both systems, I ran high graphics, every option turned on (including detailed shadows) except water reflection OFF. Resolution 1280x1024 on the new system. I think I had it at 1024x768 on the old system.

On the new system, I don't get much lag even in Hotan and Jangan with all the stalls and whatnot. It's pretty smooth grinding out in the field. On the old one, I still lagged a bit in town, but if I found a nice quiet place to grind, it was great!

Amd athlon 2,2ghz, 1gb ram and 256mb x550 .
Quite old pc, but can handle up to 30fps with no shadows and w/ bloom effect, around 15fps w/ shadows and bloom, and around 70 w/o neither of them.

My build is very similar and I have to agree with you. It rapes WoW but not Sro, and when I try to run a second client to stall I get BSOD within 10mins it's lame.....

I just cant play silkroad smoothe with detailed shadow's on and thats just insane considering i have bought my parts last summer for 1300 euro's ... >_>

The problem with silkroad is that the detailed shadow's are not suported on most new or newer graphic cards. Just a simple problem of bad coding. bad driver suport, and tsjeahh JOYMAX ^^.
Atleast Circle shadow works fine. But there is still 1 thing, i didn't test the detail shadow's after the 100 cap update.... i saw some new screen resolutions etc so maayby it would work now

. When i get home i'l check it out.

4/5 clients? Last I checked, SRO only enables you to run one client. If you try to run a second client, it pops up a box saying "Silkroad is already running". Are you talking about multi-client? *shocked*

I used to be an IT student, and am now working in software development and computer security. I guess I know a thing or two about what your (I mean my) computer can do as well...

What use would you have for running 4 or 5 clients anyway? Do you really need that many stallers, or do you just like to hog a bunch of server space to plvl your own noobs? Or maybe something else?

The fact that i know i can run a kazilion clients thoes not mean i run that many continously

1 client is enuf for me when i play normaly mayby 1 extra stall sometimes ? the rest of the performence is used for playing movie's on my second screen or play music or whatever.
Its similar with my bike I know I can ride 240kmh i drove it 2 or 3 times that fast, but normaly i drive at max 160kmh. The fact that i can go super fast thoes not mean i always go that fast thoes it ?

Yes...im also an IT programmer and i found out a way to get my character to bot but without using bot software. Im so pro.

I usually play on low, I think it looks better than high. I sometimes play on medium though, there are no problems. And, my computer is whack.
