Assassin's Creed 2 website

Code: Select all

Leonardo Da Vinci's (1452-1519) works ([1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]), and the logo at the end (with the A) seems inspired from the Freemasons (Origins in the late 16th to early 17th century).

At the end of the teaser (on the site) you see something written, but it's mirrored. Turn it, and it says: Game Informer 04.16.09.
Image

If you enter the website, print out the black and white circle logo and aim your webcam at it.
I'd tell you what great things happen when you do, but my camera doesn't seem to be willing to cooperate.

Here's a common reply: Damn, I can't wait for it, loved the first so so much! lol
But I really can't.
And I'm curious about the.. web cam trick.

Same lol, I'm so curious about the game, I loved Assassin's Creed.

Here's the webcam trick. I found it on the net so you kind of get an idea of how it works.
Still doesn't work for me, though. :(

I got it to work! My printer is broken, so I couldn't print the logo, so I drew it on a piece of paper paper and held it in front of the camera.
Took me 3 tries on the website before I could actually see anything.

Aiming right was rather tricky too, took me a bunch of tries, but here it is:

Image

When you aim it correctly, you got to hold it still so it can 'validate'.
After that, you see a 3D model of an arm, untextured.
If you got it at the correct angle, you see the hand with the hidden blade.
One thing, this hand has 5 fingers.

Okay, maybe it's not that spectacular, but it's original and it was quite fun to do. :)

Only works for the first option on the menu, I tried the others but it wouldn't validate me.

Seems to me they have what it looks like to be a wing like structure at the end of the Da vinci was born in1452 or 1451 and to 1519 so thats could be a possibility but some people think its gonna be in the french revolution because the king was assinated

Ubisoft said it'd be released in 2009. If they make it, my bet is somewhere near Christmas.

Ubisoft said they don't want to release Assassin's creed 2 until it gets enough hype. Because of what happened with Prince of Persia. but maybe they've gotten enough hype now :p

Well if they didn't had enough hype before, they have it now. Can't wait for the E3, pretty sure they'll show us more.

Anyway, each fragment is named by what seems a bunch of letters that mean nothing.
However, if you take the previous letter of each, you get words:

EFBUI - DEATH
IFSP - HERO
VQHSBEF - UPGRADE
BOBUPNZ - ANATOMY
GMZ - FLY

I figured 3 out of 5 so far, video below (might not work at once, just uploaded it).
I threw a whole lot of symbols infront of the cam to unlock the other 2, but no luck.

Code: Select all

My black marker died after this wtf. :(

I saw this today too. I haven't bought Assassin's Creed 1 and Im regretting it. But Im definetely going to buy this one. What makes me more excited is this thing about Leonardo da Vinci and freemasons. Since Im kind of history student (at high school my major subject is history).

That's a pretty good way to kill time. And lol @ all of the papers at the end of the video. But where you got the symbols from, am I missing something?

@Dumbo: Get 1, it's never late.

I so agree with this. I got bored of doing the same old crap the whole time. I enjoyed the gameplay and graphics, but the lack of creativity for the quests just killed my enthusiasm.

I liked the first one, even the repetitive stuff...Such a shame I only like it once and I usually have to finish each game twice (once for a friend on his account and at home on my own account :P ) I never got to do that >.<

Around EUR 25 currently. And yeah it took some time, but it was pretty fun. I like history and I'm curious by nature, so there you go.
I actually got the 2nd on accident. It was pretty late and I didn't notice I held the picture wrong, and it unlocked. Then you see the little image at the menu how it's really supposed to look. For the video I drew the correct ones so people wouldn't get confused lol.

Found this on the net. Can't say I'm 100% sure if it's the real thing, but it probably gets pretty close to it. I think it looks awesome! Has anyone ever noticed the scar on Altaïr's lip? Seems like Ezio has the same on this picture.

I found an article with some information about AC2, it's not confirmed whether this is completely true.
  • You'll have a ton of new weapons to choose from including an axe, a hammer, a mace, a spear, 2 different sword types, a spear axe, and 2 smaller blades
  • You CAN swim
  • Da Vinci's workshop[1] is in the game
  • Locations include Saint Marks Basilica, The Grand Canal, The Little Canal, and the Rialto bridge.
  • The game opens in 1476[1], Altaïr is from 1191
  • So you do indeed play as a new ancestor of Altaïr / Desmond
  • You will see the countryside of Tuscany
  • The "Auditore" family is mentioned
  • The main characters name is Ezio[6] Auditore de Firenze(=Florence)
  • He is a nobleman of Florence
  • Big characters are in the game including Machiavelli[3], Caterina Sforza[4], and Lorenzo de Medici[2]
  • You can indeed glide on Da Vinci's flying machine[5].
  • Game will feature a new notoriety system that governs how enemy soldiers and people will treat you.
  • You can disarm enemies and use their own weapons against them this time.
  • Each weapon has a special move.
  • 16 unique mission types.
  • No more ease dropping or pick pocketing missions.
  • If you get beat up to much you will need to see a street side doctor to regain full strength.
  • Hidden objects (like flags in the first one) are there to uncover but this time if you track them down you will get in-game bonuses that make it worth your time.
  • Items include, flags, statues, and gold coins and more that isn't mentioned.
  • New enemy types with unique attitudes and weaknesses are present in the game. Archers are mentioned, as well as elite enemies, dagger wielders, "Brutish" armoured troops with heavy armour and 2 handed swords and axes, and an intelligent halberd enemy will probe hiding places with their weapons if they think you're near by.
  • While hiding in a hay bail you can assassinate people this time, but it may expose your position.
  • You can still climb towers and ride horses
  • The Lorenzo de Medici assassination[4] attempt is in the game.
  • There is now a night and day sequence in the game.
  • 240 people are working on this title.

[1] Leonardo Da Vinci (1452 - 1519) moved in 1469 to Florence, left it in 1482 to go to Milan. In 1476, he had a workshop in Florence, and in that same year, Leonardo and three other young men were charged with sodomy, and acquitted.
[2] Lorenzo de Medici. The Medici was a very powerful and influential family during the renaissance in Florence. The Medici Bank was one of the most prosperous and most respected institutions in Europe. There are some estimates that the Medici family were the wealthiest family in Europe for a period of time. From this base, they acquired political power initially in Florence and later in wider Italy and Europe. Medici, patron of one of the most important pieces of art.
[3] Niccolò Machiavelli, Italian politician and philosopher, famous for his work Il Principe, in which he advises the politicians to use violence when needed. Died 6 weeks after the Sack of Rome in 1527.
[4] Caterina Sforza. At the age of 24, she marries the cousin of Pope Sixtus IV, Girolamo Riario, who is unpopular and has many enemies. He's the man behind the assassination on Lorenzo de Medici in 1478, where his brother, Giuliano de Medici dies.
[5] Most of Da Vinci's drawings for flying machines were created around 1485.
[6] Ezio means "eagle" in Greek.
Although the article states AC2 takes place in 1476, I find it more logical that it'll be 1478, seeing how that was the date of the assassination on Lorenzo de Medici.

Yeah, he misses the ring finger from his left hand, where the blade is. Ezio seems more lucky when it comes to keeping his fingers.

EDIT: Pretty sure the image I posted before is real, seeing how this is the cover for the May issue of Game Informer:

Image

"In Assassin’s Creed 2, players take on the role of Ezio, a young noble whose family was lost through rival ruling families' betrayals."

His clothes look more fancy, cool. Idk what to say, with the info given out (being able to use an axe, hrhrhr) seems kind of promising.
But I would like to see a different fighting system, where you can't kill 80% of enemies just by counterattacking.

I already posted the article concerning the features in AC2, look above. If you are referring to the article in the Game Informer, it's not out yet, and it's not available in my country. Someone will probably dump some scans on the internet, though.
