OT: I think it would be nice if everyone attacked the mobs, even clerics, not just wiz and warriors, every little bit helps ^_^
clerics attacking is dangerous but you are right, only attack if you know how to cleric and only if the tanks are handling the area well. This is really not recommended cause you can screw it up easily, though during bless and healing cycling the tanks you can get in a few nukes edge wise. Problem is most clerics are clerics only as a sub class and don't have their attacks up to date (or at all). Though justice cross is awesome, hc1 hc2 heal justice heal, maybe an over heal if things are going fine.
Offering is cool too but make sure you're super careful about it, cause that could kill the whole party if you get hit right as / right after you use it.
Again if you as the cleric aren't comfortable with the situation don't bother attacking and just focus on healing, a little bit less dmg is better then every dying and loosing 30 minutes of grinding already done and another 15 for every one to get back to the spot.
edit:
when i was still cleric, i would also take agro off the wizards with my nukes, which i could handle tanking and making it easier on the party as a whole. I used to hate aggro as a cleric but once you learn to work with it rather then fight it, its ok for the cleric to have a few mobs, they can tank almost as well the warriors if they are buffed.
more edit:
On the topic of helping the party to your best, don't forget you have a sub class, if you do, expessially sub clerics, if all the sudden you find yourself getting aggro of more then you know you can tank, throw on that cleric rod/sheild and healing cylce yourself, to tank thru it, and if you happen to have cleric nukes you can fight back while tanking it, still remember need those warrior buffs to act like a real tank. But its a good way to compensate a bad party as long as you're not dying you're still gaining xp. And you live to res, best situtation you saved your self which means the cleric kepted healing un interrupted plus you should do some party heals when you do that, which may also help save the party as well as yourself.
Sub clerics need to remember you don't really got hold off on bless if you get enough in your party, keep a non stop bless or a most of the time bless going, its not just about spamming nukes.
Others bitch about charged wind, i've saved the tank, the cleric, wiz , warlock, just about every build in the party mutiple times with it. Spamming it is annoying, but with protect on you can charged wind a mob teleport away and watch as the mob goes to the tank (works most of the time, some times it still stays on who it was attacking/ you) . Also for saving the tank you gota be carefull you don't want him to loose agro for you doing this but if you have protect on, shouldn't be a problem. Saving the tank is a rare need, if you notice the tank almost dead like 10% or less hp and the cleric has no mana, use it then you'll save them long enough for cleric to pot.
If you notice the the tank at 10% or less and the cleric already used healing recovery (forgot the name of the super powerful group heal, that has a long cool down, think i got the name, but i think i got it right). This means the tank is about to die cause the cleric can't heal enough for that lure, throw in a charged wind, this could save the tank again and by proxy the whole party.
