Theyre a dominate force, only in the G-rated family division. All these pokemon games, and Wii fit? People who buy wii-fit are the middle age parents with the vision of losing weight. A lot of the Wii games seem gimicky, Wii music for instance. A high amount of sales isnt exactly relative to the quality of the game. rek, understand that not everyone has the same thought process as yourself, though undoubtedly thanks to the environment here, you may feel as much. This is, by and large, a gaming community, simply put anyways, consisting of a good deal of elite gamers, or something of the like. A definition going around for elite gamers would prove something along the lines that you are a minority, be it in skill level as well as populous. Nintendo is simply reaching out to a new demographic the other major two VG companies have yet to properly utilize; and in effect, by doing it well, capture a large amount of profit, as well as a new POS to target further. You don't actually have to say you like their games, as I myself don't care for them much anymore (though thanks mostly to a fall out of gaming in general), but their astonishing track record must prove their doing something right. Surprisingly, I think Nintendo is letting Sony/Micro go for you guys. They've in general lost interest in this demographic, anything hardcore that is. They see more promise elsewhere maybe? Probably. Seeing as that insight has pushed them up and beyond the recession comparatively to the rest. I dont think they were ever seriously setting their sights on the hardcore gamer audience with titles like mariokart and so on. With the Wii, they will never fit into the hardcore gaming genre, not because they've lost interest, but imo because they cant. The whole motion sensing remote thing just doesnt suit fps games or rpg's, which make a majority of the hardcore gaming genre. Its more of a minigame thing, family orientated. I own one myself and i see my little sister having the time of her life playing that warioware game(a compilation of minigames that litterally last around 3-20 seconds each). Families were waiting for a console like this, where nearly all the games are aimed at the whole family fun theme so it was actually worth getting for the kids. They make up a huuge portion of the market, you cannot look at these sales statistics and deny that; so GG to Nintendo for giving it to them. I never said i hated the games, i wouldnt have one if i did.btw; Quote: rek, understand that not everyone has the same thought process as yourself Where did u get the impression i was speaking for everyone? I assumed one part simply from the nuance of your post, sorry. Other than that, you got my point. I don't care to argue back at whatever else is loaded.

I like the Wii, BUT the reason why it sold so well cuz it was the cheapest console till late 2008! And a lot of gurls i have like the Wii cuz of animal crossing. The Wii is basically Gamecube 1.5 becuase the grapx arnt much better and added a new controller system and a hard-drive. I'm not a fanboy of any console and i own all of them but thats the reason why the wii sold much is cuz of that reason! But if Nintendo really wants a hold in the market, they should update their console and actually come out with something amazing, and still run it cheap, and make the grapx rival and next gen console

The truth is that most of Nintendo games are for little kids or for old people (maybe you can even say family game). However, that doesn't mean people from 16-40 can't enjoy Nintendo's game. But fact still stands, most of Nintendo games are for kids and old people.
Playstation and Xbox have always been aimed for the adolescence community. Few games for kids. But mostly adolescence people.
And by the way, Wiki is NOT a reliable source. Anyone can edit that.
As for me, I had Nintendo (Family) and GBColour and GBA when I was a boy, didn't bother to buy Nintendo DS nor Wii (played Wii and don't like it).
Currently I enjoy my PS3 and my PSP.

I have a PS1, PS2, Wii, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advanced, Soon getting Xbox 360, And well by far the Wii beats it all! I love playing the Wii, and the Wii Fit is actually very hard and an amazing work out session, ofcourse if you dont try to cheat and go the easy way. My cousin works as a graphics artist for Ubisoft in Montreal, and I asked him what he thought of the Wii because I have seen his console, and trust me he has them all! Name them and he has them, I think if I searches his boxes he probably has a commando 64! He told me that the Wii is by far the funnest he has played yet. He is 21...
