What do you define as being a country? What do you define as being a nation?
Either way, I believe Taiwan will eventually be assimilated into China by their own accord. Most of the media over there has a socialist slant and favors assimilation by China. It's kind of frustrating listening to my family members over in Taiwan saying how great China is and how great communism is, since it is all they hear.
In the end, it's all about money and power. China has a lot of it and Taiwan does not.
