[WARNING: A LOT OF TEXT AHEAD. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.]
The problem with Silkroad today is that JM desperately needs to change how the game works. The botting community is growing, and it seems like the only options legits have now is: to join a new server and attempt to establish a legit sanctuary, quit the game completely, or just deal with it.
Now, I really like this game. Even when I first started, there were bots. It's something that I've just had to deal with because there is nothing I can do to make the problem go away. That's Joymax's job. However, there's a lot of issues JM needs to go over before they can really do anything. Like I've stated before, they need to understand what drives people to bot.
Let's look at the reasons some people might want to bot: 1. They want to level faster. 2. They want SOX items. 3. They don't have the time to play / they hate grinding.
Before they can fix anything, they need to block the bot program from working with the client. Don't ban the players (ban the goldbots though). Once the bot programs no longer work, they need to make adjustments to the game to satisfy all of their customers.
Reasons 1 and 2 can easily be fixed. With reason 1, just raise the EXP/SP rate. Maybe add something where if you kill a certain amount of mobs, you'll get an increase to your EXP/SP for a certain amount of time. It does take way too long, imo, to solo your way to the cap, and the cap is where a lot of people have their most fun. They could also add a few things here and there to give lower levels something fun to do, too.
For reason 2, they could simply stop having monsters drop SOX items. Instead, make them something you can win from events.
There would be nothing JM can do for people who hate to grind or have no time to grind. Party play, imo, makes training a lot more enjoyable. The only problem is that sometimes, it's hard for people to find parties.
Now, reasons people use a loader: 1. They don't want to spend hours trying to log in. 2. They want to multi-client and plvl their academy/stall while they play.
This is another thing JM can easily fix. They need to change their client so it doesn't disconnect you when you fail to sign in. They need to add a system in game where you can give your items to an NPC for a small price for a certain amount of time (let's say 3-5 days), and he "stalls" the items for you. When the item sells, you get a notice and you return to the NPC to pick up your gold. If it doesn't sell within the given time, you can choose to take the item back or put it back into the system. And lastly, they need to just take out honor buffs completely. This will eliminate most people from abusing the system since most people want the honor buffs anyway.
With all the other things, they should fix the PVP and Job systems. For PVP, they could add an arena people can go to, and if they want to PVP someone, they have to apply for it by clicking on an action and an agreement box will pop up. It will tell the person what their level and build is, and the person could accept or decline. If they accept, the match will begin in 30 seconds allowing both to buff up. Once one of the players dies, it's over. This way, it will eliminate all people from ganging up on you, and it will eliminate higher level chars to come over and one-hit you. They can still keep the cape war system, but just add something like this to make it more fair. Personally, I hate trying to pvp someone my level and a level 90 appears from out of no where and one hits us both.
With the job system, they could change it so it only takes 3 days to change jobs. This way, people can't switch jobs on you like they use to. But they could also add a level restriction to who you can kill. Maybe change it to where you can only fight someone who is within 5-10 levels of you. The job system, imo, is almost fine the way it is now so I really don't think they need to change much.
Of course, add more events and unique rewards. This will encourage people of all levels to want to play and get these new, rare items.
Maybe add a bounty hunting system where every week a new, special mob is released somewhere in the SRO. Players can take a quest from an NPC in town. They have to take the clues from the quest log, and search for the bounty. Once they kill the bounty, they can return to the NPC and get a lot of EXP/SP/Gold from him and points. Once they collect enough points, they can be eligible for special prizes.
And they could also fix the prizes you get for Capture The Flag. Make it more worthwhile. (Oh, and change it so everyone had their buff room again.)
All of this will encourage people to play the game and, most importantly, will give people the option to do other things if they don't want to grind AND will give both higher and lower levels something to do. If JM wants to save their game, they have to change a lot of how the game works. They need to access all of their problems and fix them accordingly. Block bots>Fix problems>Add things to make it the gaming experience more enjoyable.

Yup. I've said it before. I just really wish JM would change a lot of things.

I approve with PocketSunshine and I'm really looking forward for silkroad II. Silkroad lost it's position as most popular game in Korea since Aion started there and JM is confronted with players leaving massively SRO for Aion. Perhaps the SRO II version is their answer to regain their lost popularity and I truly hope that SRO II will be more enjoyable for legit players. I don't know what they intend to change but I hope that they will fix the unbalance between xp and sp, make levelling easier for when the new expansions come out and will put in place a client that is not easy to hack and try to keep the game bot free.

Quote: These types of threads are nothing more than indirect advertisements for bots. People like this list every "negative" of this game, and mention a new bot, with the intent to get people to search for it. They try to make it seem like our gaming experience is "in competetion" with botters. Like our gaming is just as involved with botting as a botters gaming is. This way people begin to relate to the concept of botting and begin to justify it to themselves. A legit player doesn’t play to impress or supercede cheaters. The cheaters gaming standard is not that of a legits. And if the actions of others truly and genuinely are going to cause you to quit the game, then its obvious you are the one with the issues. Though id bet not playing this game would be the best thing for some people.
Anyways, happy MLK day everyone. Yes i am a bot supporter. Please everyone buy S-Bot. It's amazing, drains ALL traffic in your server so nobody can connect. All for only 5Euros a month! Sarcas-o-meter |-------------------------------o--| Seriously lol that was a stupid post. I have no intent to turn anyone to botting, especially not this new bot. On my server there have been globals an everything, i was unaware that people were obvlivious to this new bot. And i am sorry for bringing it up. You are indeed correct that this is an old issue. But you cannot deny the fact that it is becoming even more important as the days go on. We had this issue before 80cap came out... But getting to 80 was no problem, now 90 is a little harder, and 100 even more. We also didnt have these absurd traffic problems. I just think speculating about the Arabian race and 12D Weapons is ridiculous! At this rate, there will be no Arabian race. More and more legits are leaving as the cap raises, and bot numbers increase. The community as a whole has been destroyed and the game is turning into a joke. Unfortunately there is little we can do, and i fear that our beloved game will die. Joymax need to pull their finger out of their A*ses and start banning bots. I'm sorry to be negative and pessimistic, but i wanted your views on the future of our game. This is more than a thread about botting, because thats what our game is, we cant change that. Perhaps as somebody suggested, the thread should indeed be titled "The Death of Silkroad"..
