I have been thinking about this for a while and doing some tests, but I was wondering what is more useful, a raw defense increase, or increased parry ratio. For example, a lvl76 wizard nukes me for about 7.9k with meteor when I am unbuffed, however when I have my parry ratio buff active, he nukes me for 4.9k instead, this has led me to wonder which is better, parry ratio or just having a defense increase, for example fire guard increases mag defense by a fair amount, but would it result in me taking lower dmg then having no fire guard but a high parry would? Hope that made sense

I guess more defence is still better than parry ratio. That 7.9k vs 4.9k is just a lucky comparison I guess.. But parry ratio still owns a lot, a full 40% parry ratio set owns.. Pay attention to both of them

Well, they arnt exact numbers, but I was giving a close to reality as possible scenario the reason I ask is because it would help, me at least, asses the strengths and weakness of using fire with a chinese int build.

each 1 point defense would reduce defense by 6-7 dmg parry ration only effective when your parry > his hit rate by 30 pts that's the least i can tell
but still, it's hard to have a full parry blue set item so your parry is always lower than your enemy

Also, if it really needs to be a 30 points difference, thats really almost impossible. I would most deffinitly go for higher defence over higher parry.

Sorry to double post/bump like this, but I was thinking, if you had a str based force user, with lightning, force and a weapon skill, would the attack rating vital spot provide adequate defense? Or would he just get owned by not having fire or ice? Im assuming that using it, you can lower their attack rating to under your parry ratio, which should mean that when they hit you, its like your wearing an extra piece of armor.

So that means that fire on an int build is better than light? that is if you have a high hit ratio. Because with fire you get extra mag def and the nuke damage won't be a big difference.

No men Ints HAVE to take light its a must. The question for ints is to take Fire or Cold. Cold being the most taken one because of the massive phys def.

90 hit vs 45 parry: Code: 109 104 100 109 90 95 109 98 101 109 So i got 4 times more the max dmg 109, my min dmg is higher as well That's a test a did long time ago
