yes it does a lot more dmg. But 1h sword can carry shield so you will have much more defense. But i prefer 2h. IT owns.

The damages between the two are the same on the weapon itself, but it's the skills damage percents that set them apart.
As for example, I'll compare the Beserker skill from 1h and Maddening from 2h: Beserker (maxed at Lv9; mastery Lv72) will do 544 ~ 665 (124%) with 2 successive shots, so that's 124% x2, which only is 248% overall.
Maddening (maxed at Lv9; mastery Lv72) will do the exact same damage as Beserker (544~665), however, the percent is 487% overall. So you can see here that maddening has about a 239% damage increase over the 1h Beserker skill. A 239% increase in damage dealt is a huge increase.
When I'm using 1h, I only get a crit as high as about 5k, however, when I'm using 2h the highest crit I get is around 14k. Big difference there.

For pvp and jobwar, 2H is certainly stronger. In a party however I prefer a 1H. They don't knock down (making most of the rest of the party stare in disbelief), and they can take a lot more damage. IMHO, best is to get both skilltrees, and play your role depending on the situation.

EDIT: I've merged two similar topics by the same author, freedom_fighter. This second question is about chinese blader vs. euro 2h sword. There's a big difference between the two builds. The 2h sword deals massive damage, and can also tank very well with iron/mana skins. The blader, does far less damage, but it doesn't have the potion delay the euro has. Basically, euros solve the pot delay problem by taking a cleric sub (for recovery division, bless spell and other skills). The chinese blader can also inflict bleed status (through the lightning chain and flying stone smash) and division & impotent status (through the lv 73 chain). Here's what a good blader looks like: http://youtube.com/watch?v=vapme4toUgY2h / Cleric: http://youtube.com/watch?v=VxhVRvzK-8A

I suggest you to lvl up both weapons, 2H can do crazy damage with one hit, but a 1H using a good shield can be a real pain in the ass.

Warriors can kill all Europe Builds without a subclass except other warrior with sub

1H with warlock as sub is quite a pain in the ass, all those debuffs 1H + debuffs almost gets the same damage as 2H, if not even more and warlock can stun and slumber to gain some extra time to pot if needed 2H on the other hand has probably cleric, so he can heal easier. And 1H + warlock always carries a shield

you can also use 2H with warlock sub, i have seen 2H/warlock killing glaviers with snowshield on without much problems.
