so basically it is about even because debuffs/stun/lifesteal are good as sub and as main (and with main you have DoT's)
Wizard are very good at pve with their very high damage and AoE. The real problem is that they have low life just like many int characters (but especially with life control).
For wizard you can take either bard or cleric. Taking bard makes it easier for soloing while you level, but in parties it is much better to take cleric. If you think you would have fun dealing very high damage while leveling or pvping then play the wizard. You would be the main damage dealer in parties and you basically quick kill in pvp. It just depends on your playing style.
Warlocks also can do a lot of damage too but its not instant (hence the term damage over time). Their debuffs are very good for themselves and the party. The DoT, debuffs, stun/sleep, and lifesteal are very good in pvp. For warlocks, basically same as wizard. Imo, warlock/bard isn't as beneficial as cleric because you basically only get 3 from bard; mana cycle (replace by pots), noise (only useful early levels and solo because you can stun/sleep later), and moving march (which can be replaced by drug). The main benefit as applied to many other classes with bard sub is that it is cheaper.
So either one you take, i recommend cleric as sub because of defense buffs, healing division, and res (for parties). Bard is more of a soloing subclass
You took my words out of my "mouth".
