I almost wish I WAS a botter, so SRF could go even farther into this ridiculous bot hunt and banning all of the quality (botter or not) members from these forums, Deacon, Itonami, among COUNTLESS others (even if they DID bot, who the **** knows?) were some of the best members these forums had, and you ban them over the smallest shit when there are dozens of other noobs who should be banned for other reasons, I respect the war on bots, but if you take it to a level of banning well respected forumers for using a no-DC client or some other stupid shit like this, because they, in their own way, want to fight the pathetic sorry excuse for a gaming company known as joymax, is completely lame, if your going to ban botters, use your rights as an "independent entity from joymax" and selectively ban the nobodies that clog the forums with useless asinine posts, not quality members that contribute to these forums in a productive way, you've reduced this place to a cesspool of noobs asking the same questions OVER and OVER, giving bad advice in even worse English.

I don't think the bot problem isn't some sort of abysmal bug that everyone can brush off. Silkroad Online use to be a great game, as many people have known it before. Botting was introduced and everything pretty much went down hill. JOYMAX obviously doing not much or anything at all, so it really just relied on the community. The community decided to not care about sportsmanship and botted. A lot of people don't care, they just want to get to a high level. The atmosphere of a once, "hey let's do something together" turned into a " ... ", nearly everyone doing things only for themselves. No sense of team work or team play. MMORPGs are for a large community to play with each other.
I've played Rakion, World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy Online, and this one Arcade-like MMORPG and they all had this sense of unity. To play together.
I believe SRF is trying to harness what's left of a once great MMORPG. It's a rough road, as it's been already foreseen through the already vast screen of botting from Silkroad Online in-game -- that being truly legitimate is going to be hard.
You know what I wish? I wish for a better community. I wish for a better company. I wish for a fun: "hey, let's party to kill that big bad monster," over than "hey.. you there ... ?"
I also forgot to mention that this is a great way to promote legitimacy. People complain that supposedly JOYMAX does not ban bots who buy silk. Would you want SRF to be the same way?

Hell I've got proof of some respected members of these forums who use no DC / bot but will I ever rat them out? Never. They contribute to the discussions and help with questions so I'd rather see that then have them banned. And ya it's pretty sad when you see the same question or same topic posted throughout multiple threads and people are too lazy to use the search function. Ox33 forums ftw. Discussion about ANY aspect of silkroad there, no haters, no witch hunts...

These "witch hunts" as you so call them, who was the driving force behind it? Who were the ones who asked for it? Who were the ones who were sick of all these "Closet Botters" as they were so called.
I'll tell you who, everyone and anyone who has ever borne the forum rank of "Regular User"
Thats right, it was all because the users kept complaining to the Staff that there were too many bots, that so and so is a botter, but we just let him/her go on like nothing.
So we decided to listen to your pleads and comments, we listen to your criticisms and complaints and we did something about it.
We removed all those closet botters, all those who you knew were botting and were lying about it on the forums. This means all.
How would it be fair to choose some members over others? It wouldn't. Yes, we have i will be the first to admit it if you want, yes we have lost some great members, i have had to ban people who i took no pleasure in banning, friends, people ive played with, people ive shared memories and fun with. People i wish i did not have to ban.
But i had to, there was no playing favorites, why would it be fair that we keep some people just "because we like them" this is not right, no one is safe from the rule. Whether it is a friend, a boy, a girl, a mod, a regular, an elite an Admin even.
and you guys knew this, you guys knew this from the second you started asking for us to deal with the closet botter. Did you really think we would play favorites? This would completely contradict what we were trying to do.
So yes, i find it very interesting that you complain when we don't do something about it, but when we do. You also complain, i mean sure there are those who support us, and we thank you for it, but there are still those who are angry at us no matter what we do. We try, honestly we do. and there will be people who leave which we are saddened to see go. However, it is their fault that they are gone, we cannot change what they did, we can only uphold what we promised our users to uphold.

Well, if accuratly proven, the yes, ban them. if not, dont.
Deacon? Not proven at all. I think i know what evidence caused his perm-ban, and it's farking EPIC lol.
no, it wasn't the stuff HolyPure provided, that was rubbish. ANd he's not a good source anyway. Someone who says: "A friend botted my char to lvl 80, not me!" is not a good source. don't have SS, but i do have my memories of oasis, been there long enough.
Not gonna get into it atm, pm-ing my ass off.

I just miss the interesting topics instead of topics titled- LOL OMFG OMGLMFAO etc... 1 line topics that are really pointless and a waste of time to read. And others whining about Joymax when they still play the game. I dont get if u hate the company so much why do u play the game? But every once in a while i see an interesting topic

@Key-J, you can't satisfy everyone.
@the rest of you
I'll use an analogy that will hopefully hit home. It is a mild form of civil disobedience, but i hope it gets the point across to those who don't understand what we're trying to achieve; this is not a witch hunt, this is not the red scare, no matter how much you try to rationalize botting it is impossible, any other mmo... community, no joke, would have a completely different mindset towards cheating of this kind.
I'm going to set up a scenario and hopefully you guys will see where I'm coming from:
Setting: Communist China, Dunhuang. Characters: Military Official, Male Peasant, a Middle Upper Class Man, and a Small bread selling shop owner.
The Military official will be the Admin. The Male peasant will be the regular member caught using no-d/c. The Middle Upper class Man will be the Mod caught using no-d/c. The Small bread selling shop owner will be The catalyst, "the [metaphorical] snitch". Communist China will be Silk Road Online. Dunhuang will be the Silk Road Forums. Survival will be equivalent to logging in. The Rich man's wallet will be his "Premium" ticket.
What the community wants ATM: Act 1: A male peasant is having a hard time getting by in Communist China he needs to feed his wife and child. The peasant eyes a bread shop, and notices the owner has his back turned. In Dunhuang, although theft is a small offence, it will get you imprisoned. The Peasant grabs bread and starts to run, the shop owner done making a fresh batch turns and sees the peasant running. The shop owner exasperated calls for help "Thief, Thief" he yells, shortly and Military official gives chase. He tackles the peasant. The peasant scared and frightened knowing what he must do for his family, fights off the Officer and Keeps running, he careens into a dark corner; a dead end. Trapped the peasent gives up then is held for detainment and questioning. While questioning the peasant the Officer is told his situation... showing no sympathy or remorse the officer gives him 7 days in a Local jail, saying "He is only a peasant."
Act 2: A rich man is walking down the street, he left his wallet at home and forgot to refill his back up one. The Man sees a bread shop and is hungry, he notices the shop owner isn't watching and is grabs a piece of bread, he then begins to run towards his car. In Dunhuang, although theft is a small offence, it will get you imprisoned. The shop owner angered yells for help "Thief, Thief". An official cuts the rich man off and stops him from entering his car, the rich man slick like and eel gets closs to the officer and whispers his name. The official backs down and replies "You owe me one, Wei Han Yue". The official then goes to the Shop owner and calmly says, "If you want your stay here to be pleasant then shut up before i make you shut up".
Is That what you guys want? Corruption, and playing favorites... Isn't that what you BLOODY CRITICISED US FOR! We have never played favorites, and we try to keep our ranks pure. When one goes bad we don't play favorites we do what was done to the peasant we do what is FAIR! Be realist, stop being idiots. Stop rationalizing something that is considered cheating, sure, you may have valid reasons but that doesn't change what was done, facts are facts. And Facts be told.
No-D/c was theft in this story, survival was the rational behind it. Murder would be botting in the next, not liking someone would be the rational behind it.
No-D/c is the small "crime". Botting is the "20 to Life crime".
The No-D/c person was simply trying to log in. The botter was just to lazy to level. The Thief was just trying to get by. The murderer just didn't like that person's face.
Notice I put ludicrous reasons next to botting and murder to make the Analogy hit home harder. I put understandable reasons next to No-D/c and stealing.
By your logic someone who breaks the rules while in the army shouldn't be court marshaled if they have a high rank. Stupidity ftw?
I'm not comparing real life to an online game, I'm putting matters in perspective because you guys apparently don't have the reasoning capacity to understand wtf is going on. Yeah I'm pissed now.
EDIT: I still think the evidence was weak, but Deacon admitted to using No-D/c in the secret mod section.

EDIT: I still think the evidence was weak, but Deacon admitted to using No-D/c in the secret mod section. I didn't read any of this. @keyj I never wanted a bot ban hunt (I was inactive on these forums before that ever came) nor do I represent all these new age forumers, I represent the forumers in the days of Moogie and demarthyl and hakufudomine and kurohagane and helsharpt and many other greats, in the days where this place had a strong community of active, experienced helpers that had great stories and screenshots and topics and videos, the entire exposed botters forum and banning alleged botters is ridiculous, you should leave all the people productive, botters or not, and ban the people who disrupt the community in other ways, or else hurt the community some how. I wish I cared enough about this game anymore to bot, joymax is the worst company ever (though, at this point, if I were them and I had a playerbase as butt-Farking-stupid as this one, I'd be laughing my ass off to the BANK) and deserve to have all these people ruining their game, maybe it will open the eyes of all the legits left to abandon their full farmed builds on a shitty server packed with goldbots and start a completely legit community on venus, probably the best server out there (thanks to avalon no doubt) until then this game can go to hell and back for all I care, it just gets under my skin all the people whining about this game on this forum when they won't do anything about it (see previous sentence) as for the people who will inevitably say "if you don't like this game or this forum, leave" to you, I have plenty of other reasons to visit these forums.

I come here like ones a week now.. just to find out it's still crap. It's so sad that a goal like making the forum bot-free.. can send a great forum down the drain this fast Imo it's about sharing idea's and strategy's for the game. How you lvl is a whole seperate thing. The rules were fine before: just talking about it was not allowed. Now you guys took the war from joymax and made it your own while it isn't your battle to fight. I did lol at the 7-day banning for using No-dc client talk about overdoing it

I'll tell you who, everyone and anyone who has ever borne the forum rank of "Regular User"
Thats right, it was all because the users kept complaining to the Staff that there were too many bots, that so and so is a botter, but we just let him/her go on like nothing. i don't get it what exactly does a closet botter do too people on here? i can understand to some point why people would come to here too ask for help of getting rid of botters but hold on what does that do for the actual game again? thats the only thing i don't understand about this whole ordeal with bots on this forum.

double posting ftw?
sux that they got banned. i never knew holding an accnt on srf was such a big deal. they chose to bot, they get banned here, there doesn't need to be all this whining and complaining.
if u miss those people, talk to them on msn/aim or some other forum, they're not welcome here.
