I'm not telling you guys that you should all just give up and stop the "war on bots" but why not stop for a second and think about the situation. First of all, I myself, am proud to say that although I've been playing the game since the opening of the Olympus server, I've managed to remain legit all this time. Yes, bots do get annoying especially when you "grind" as a legit but instead of releasing our frustration on the bot-users, why not examine the source of the problem? Everyone probably knows this but the real cause of this problem is not the makers or the users of the 3rd party programs themselves because those people exist in every other game but the company that neglects their own customers--yes, Joymax.

I don't think we can really say that Joymax is too "poor" to solve this problem because if you look at what's happening, most people spend more money on Silkroad than the average World of Warcraft or Ragnarok Online player. I don't mean to sound..well, mean..but no one's going to win this so-called "war on bots" until Joymax decides to stop BSing their customers and actually do something about the situation instead of ignoring or patching it up. Several steps such as placing an anti-hack program (GameGuard/In-game software) and massive banning were already made by the company in the past but decided not to continue it. Besides, I'm pretty sure that a lot of botters wouldn't bother using a cheating program if joymax actually did something to keep the game "legit."

I can buy a plane ticket to Korea and stand outside a big building saying "grrrrrr" while shaking my fist. Not sure what that's going to accomplish.

Or, I can help get rid of the bots on this forum making it a more pleasant place to discuss SRO and keep botters from recruiting in the most popular SRO forum.

And this really shouldn't be posted here.

They did. But they didn't prevent them from going back since they're too f*cking cheap to use GameGuard or place another anti-bot program like the one they used around the time Euro was released.

I don't know about you but I never purchased Silk from Joymax since they started allowing the use of third-party programs. I refuse to pay for bad service.

Are the two solutions mutually exclusive? Can you not buy silk and support SRF's banning of botters? The way I see it, you are either part of the problem or part of the solution. By banning botters, SRF is part of the solution. I am thankful for that.

I wish JoyMax was more active in banning botters. I quit for a few months because I got sick of JoyMax's hands-off approach to customer service. But after playing on Venus and seeing what is going on there, I think this game can be saved. One hundred good people, cooperating to achieve a mutually beneficial goal, can easily defeat a disorganized, whiny group of cheaters. Look, it's already happened.

Well, people. What can I say? Let's just hope for the best. But unless Joymax decides to either do weekly anti-bot program updates or actually sign a contract with GameGuard or PunkBuster, the game is pretty much doomed. To be honest, I kinda' got tired of it and decided to just stop caring about it altogether but don't get me wrong, if I could have my way, I would prefer a legit game; I do miss running around having fair PvP matches and party-grinding with in-game friends. For now, I'm just using my friends' wizards to farm on my rogue so I can actually kill full-sosun cheaters in PvP/Jobs.

Gameguard sucks. It never gets anything. WoW's "warden" is so much better.

All it has to do is see a suspecious/known application or window title and you recieve the ban notice in your email. :D

I think JM could do a lot of things to help make the game legit without doin things with game guard. First, I think that they should mark all known botters with a red name (like murder status) and make them a free pk and they drop their item when their killed. Also, I think JM shuould make it impossible for these botters to join guilds or job. Finally, I think they should make channels for each server like in Cabal to reduce server traffic so it would be easier to log in reducing the need to use bots that never DCs. These alone would reduce the botting community by a lot, but JM's banns are helpful too.

Thats what I was thinking too :D , and all of the botters seal equipment would be back in the hands of legits.

For any of you here that have played War Rock. You would see what a better company is like. You can't use a hack for 5 minutes without getting booted and banned most of the time. Unless it's a VIP one in which is a waste of money cause the sellers just planted a keylogger and stole your account. But Jowmax would loose money if they banned all bots at once. I don't see why they don't sell some uber XP increaser cause then bots wouldn't need to be there for lvling. And lower SP needs so no more farm bots. And stop goldseller sites that are posted ingame. Then the economy will improve and no one will need to buy gold. Also increase sox drop rate by 100% so no one is selling them for 999mil. Maybe then servers being crowded will only happen because of a great game full of legits.

If they upped the drop rate SoSun wouldn't even be rare, or expensive. Everyone would have full SoSun sets.

And the game will be unbalanced.

Out of all the Olympus players I know, there are only a handful (2-4) of them who got their SoSun items legitimately and only 2 of them have weapons (I'm not entirely sure if one of them got it in a legit manner). Either way, all I'm saying that it's already unbalanced.

Thats a contradiction. Euros are much stronger than Chinese without sun, add SUN; and its "GAME OVER" for chinese  Hence: Unbalanced.

I refuse to buy 1 single silk until they improve the server security, start banning bots (Don't come with the "oh too many bots, they can't ban them all, they will come back" if they just TRIED... They could manage to stop the botting -.-)

I think what we can do is go on a sort of form of 'strike' but I don't think we can get enough people to do it. This would cause JM to lose money and they'd have to take some sort of action.

the war on bots is a misnomer, this is really only a symbolic move SRF did to show its position against bots by banning any member who has botted. and they showed no mercy to any old members either
