By reading this text you agree to refrain from flaming, calling me names, arguing without valid arguments, and/or feeling offended, cause I don't mean it that way. Before people start asking: -I did NOT run headfirst into a wall. -I'm NO mental hospital patient. -I'm NO complete noob and/or retard. I'm just trying something new I recently switched to Warrior-Wizard and have to say I love it. I don't have a pimped armor set yet so that's why I ain't using one, and for those asking, I'm pure int. It's a unique build, no "garment fire glaiver" or "rogue cleric". Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6MwFKIORK0Now my question, why do people always choose the easiest way? Where's the creativity? Each glaiver video I see contains nothing more then Soul Departs (stun) and Ghost Spear (spin) attacks, or in famous words: Quote: Full strength garment fire heuksal glaivers? A matter of Soul Spear Turk and Ghost Spear Spam! I'm not particularly aiming this message towards glaivers, even though they do make up the majority of chinese characters, rogue clerics are also part of this monotony, but seriously; don't you ever feel the urge to try different skills/ways to finish your opponent? Or at least fantasize about other unexplored builds in silkroad? Or are you truly completely satisfied with your character even though it might be less original then others? Is it about being the best the easiest way, or getting some variation in Downhang South? And ofcourse, everyone follows a certain pattern during PvP, but having the ability to adapt to any given circumstance and still winning, that's strategy. I might add, one of the (in my opinion) best warriors on Athens just went to try something new also, he just did it, to be unique and to find a new build to experiment with. He's known under the name "Vapore", his build Warrior-Warlock, or in Athens, the "Vapore-Build". And finnaly, if any of you feel offended I'm truly sorry, but read my first line

Why on earth would glaivers do anything else then their strongest attacks? Why do 3k dmg if you can do 5k dmg in the same amount of time? =/
Same for bowers/bladers/ints...and every other Farking build in sro

It's not that it's the easy way out. Usually the cookie cutter builds are the most effective of all the builds in whatever game. In SRO it is no different. There are very few builds to really choose from because of this. There are basically...
Chinese Int = Weapon/Light/Cold, Fire/Light/Ice or Force/Light/Cold
Chinese Str = Weapon/Fire/Light
Euro's = Any primary with Cleric, Bard or Warlock sub.
Those are cookie cutters but they are that way for a reason. They are really the most effective build SRO has to offer. You can't really mix it up in SRO without making a garbage character. There isn't hundreds of masteries to choose from there are really very few.

why flame moshe for shame
force is good, its rare but its out there, 1 to 1 hybrid do suck, but other hybrids can be good. I have a cleric sub wizzard (lol i didn't plan it that way just stoped farming hearts for change because i got bored of it), But eh my rogue is unique enough for me, sub bard, i'm fine with seeing other rogues around with sub bard, i bet they dont' have a farmed tambour line, and i like move swiftly and kill swiftly, now vs groups a sub cleric rogue has advantages over my sub bard, but oh well i can take out a single target better and faster, and rehide fast, its just fun for me.
I think people just try a build out and keep playing it, some like a unique build some just wanna go with a build they don't have to take risks with screwing up, you make a hybrid you can mess it up, a pure you're not messing up, unique skill sets (yes a warrior sub wizzard is half way good i've seen them, though once you get a higher lvl sprint assualt is teleport needed?) can be fun but most people rather not take the risk and waste alot of time on a charector that they may decide to not like
edit
although my rogue used to be sub warrior and that was really fun, but i opted for jobbing efficiency

Only reason I follow a guide for my pure str glaiver is because I haven't played this game that long..When I get this character maxxed or really high level I will probably make some characters just to see how they turn out but for now I am sticking to make my character actually powerful

Who would have thought wizard/warrior would be so great in pvp. almost a tanking wizard Much better way of pvp then the skill spammers. I also like a nice variety in pvp which is why i started my warlock/wizard char on hera cant wait to get into action with it.

wow nice char u got there. but what is ur build? 70:70? 1:1? hybrid builds with chinese are possible, but euro hybrid builds dont do much dmg/dont have much defense. BTW ppl build glaviers cause they dont know alot about attacks, so they choose the easiest.

lol thought you were talkin about the fish kind of cookie cutters You're right about the originality issue though. However, you're going to have to be a little more understanding of them. The difficulty and lameness of the game forces a lot of people to choose easy paths-hell, no one likes grinding. If JM had made the game a little more "playable" it wouldn't be such an issue.

In terms of Euro, the only combination that I haven't seen that often is Warlock/Bard. The rest is either everywhere (Rogue/Bard, or Warrior/Cleric), or is used by famous players (Vapore's Warrior/Warlock, or Syl's Rogue/Wizard).
Sorry for the dichotomy. @_@

the problem with trying new things and taking risks is that it takes such a long time to get up to a decently high lvl so that u can effectively test ur build.

Thanks for all your opinions! I really appreciate both the positive and negative comments. Unfortunaly this thread got moved so the it'll propably dust away. My topic is about why people lack originality, not what's the best build, I'm just interested in why people don't try new things. So it doesn't belong in Characters Skills. And inky, ofcours some chinese strength characters choose garment for the magical defense (and/or mpconsumption+speed), but why do so few choose to make a kickass physical tank (with any strength build) by just choosing armor, ofcourse you'll do worse versus intelligence builds, but I estimate (and i base this solely on what I've seen sofar in athens, xian and hera), that the strength-intelligence ratio is like 6x-4x/3x, thus giving (on average) a bonus in PvPing. And in KSRO there are plenty of hybrid rogue-clerics, simply because otherwise they can't keep up the healing to a acceptable rate, they tank intelligence builds better and still kick ass. And even more important, most healing spells go via a percentage of magical attack, meaning they heal theirselves and others better then full strength x-clerics. And TOloseGT, I agree with you there, although carefully checking which skills you have at the cap can give a rather good estimate of what your build can and can't do. And (on the song of John Lennon ^^) "imagine all the people", choosing what they find cool over what they know is best, seeing more people like that hybrid force blader, or a warlock bard (which I find particularly interesting). Simply not going with the stream and choosing less popular builds, or (very important) distinct their character by the way they PvP, using less used skills, simply doing what you like, those kind of people I'll always respect.

After I finish my basic warrior, I'll make a warrior/wizard (or convert my basic warrior to a warrior/wizard).
Pure str, not pure int. My idea build is slightly different, and I'm not ripping your build I have had this build (Pure str Warrior/Wiz) in Mind for quite some time, just never had anything strong enough to push me to go through with it.
