I have like and hour to do my review and study it. Its 12:41am and my exam is at 9am in the morning; so i would love it if you guys could help me with some questions. You dont have to be too detailed with them. I'll be up at 6 in the morning; so keep the answers comming

Aboriginal Spirituality:
-Explain the significance of the Sun Dance

Buddhism:
-What are the 4 Sights? (Just list them)
-What are the 4 Noble Truths? (Just list them)
-List the 5 Prececpts
-Why is a lotus flower a good symbol of buddhism (opinion question)
-What is the eightfold path? (Just list them)

Hinduism:
-Describe the milestones and festivals

Islam:
-Name and explain the 5 Pillars (list the arabic terms too)
-Describe the main belifes
-Which direction do muslims face when they pray?
-What is the significance of Ramadan? When does it take place? What is done?
-What is the meaning behind the star and crescent moon?

Judaism:
-What were the political beliefs of Sadducees, Pharisees, Zealots, and Essene Jews?
-What are the differences between the Torah, Talmud and Pentateuch?
-What is a menorah? Why are there two types?

Christianity:
-When did the Great Schism occur between Easter and Western Churches?
-Who is Constantine?
-Describe all the milestones and festivals. Which is the most important festival?
-What is the significance of the fish symbol?

This isnt all of it, its just the ones that I think would take me a lot of time. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Milestones = Important events that a person must go throught (ie. Circumcision in Judaism, Baptism in Christianity, Childs Firsts.. in Hinduism, Vision Quest in Aboriginals)

-What is the significance of the fish symbol? 'Fish' and 'profit' has the same pronouciation in the old language, so at the end of the year symbolizes that every year profit will be made

I had a world religions class last semester and I found it very interesting, lemme get my notes and see if I can help you.

Sun Dance: Well looking back on my test I missed that question :P

So moving on

Four Sights: A decrepit old man, diseased man, a corpse and a woman weeping over it, and a religious ascetic

Four Noble Truths:
- To live is to suffer
- Suffering is caused by desire
- Suffering can be brought to cessation
- The cure to suffering is to follow the noble 8 fold path

Five Precepts: (I'm assuming just the normal 5 and not the monks and nuns five?)
- Do not take life
- Do not take what is not given
- Do not engage in sensual misconduct
- Do not use false speech
- Do not drink intoxicants
Easy way that helped me remember: don't kill, don't steal, don't have crazy sex, don't lie, don't get wasted

Eight Fold Path:
- Right Views
- Right Intentions
- Right Speech
- Right Conduct
- Right livelihood
- Right Effort
- Right Mindfulness
- Right Meditation

Now the lotus I'll just give a short little explanation, because that's basically all I can remember. A lotus is a good symbol of Buddhism because buddhism teaches that one has to look inside of oneself to discover meaning and reach peace, union between mind, body, soul, and to reach nirvana and be enlightened. The actual flower bloom of a lotus is inside of it. Also here's a phrase that I remember from a film we watched, "the space in the heart of the lotus". I think it was expressing that inside each of us, and inside a lotus (lotus being a symbol for us and our hearts) there is a space, and within that space is the universe, we just have to unlock it and find it.

Hinduism: Have no idea what you mean by milestones and festivals, sorry.

Five Pillars:
- Salat - Prayer
- Zakat - Purification (literally meaning a tithe, a tax)
- Saum - Fasting
- Hajj - Pilgrimage to Mecca
- Shahada - Witness, the english translation of their declaration of beliefs is loosely "There is no God but God and Mohammed is God's prophet."
Those were just taken from my notes, sorry that I don't have more of an explanation.

-Muslims face towards Mecca when they pray.
-Ramadan, just google it :P I don't really know much about it besides that it is a time of fasting.
- Don't know the meanings

Judaism we didn't study but I'll tell you what I know of it.
- A menorah is a type of candle holder, I believe it holds 13 candles?

Christianity, I go to a catholic school so I've had to take religion classes for a long time, I'll see what I can do.
- Don't remember much about when the schism happened, only thing I remember was that schism sounded like it should be some dirty word :P
- Constantine was the first roman emperor, he spread Christianity throughout Rome, I can't remember much more.
-Easter is supposed to be the most important because it was when Jesus was resurrected or whatever
- I heard once that the importance of the fish was that it was a way for early Christians to communicate that they in fact were Christians to each other (since it was against the law to be one basically) and that a person would draw half or part of the fish, and if the other was a Christian, they would finish it, though User's sounds right too

Shoot me a PM if you have anymore questions, I'll be on for maybe 20 more minutes.

***I did not mean to offend anyone or their beliefs, I apologize if I messed up on part of describing a religion, please don't take offense and please correct me!***

I had a little part of this in History some time ago.

I think the Constantine they are referring to is the Constantine who founded Nova Roma, later to be called Constantinople. I believe this is the Eastern center of the East/west seperation. West would of course be Rome.
They split up because the Greek (primarily AFAIK) thought the Romans were too lose with the bible. I had this in Dutch so there's words I can't really explain, we call them 'aflatingen' which means you pay the church money so you decrease your time in hell. The eastern Christians were against this. The pope was also having children and things like that so they thought it'd be better to get their own church.

I don't think there's a year for it when they split, they grew apart.

But it's a long time ago I had this.

3. The Spending[got no other word >_>] [ El Zakat ] - Spend poor people your money, e.g. if your wealthy and your neighbour is poor it is your must to help him out, helping the ones who need it.
4. The Fasting - A whole month everyone needs to, expect people who are ill, mentally sick, women who are pregnant, lasts 30 days after that we have 'Eid' you could say thats little christmas for us
5. The Pilgrim [ El Hadsch ] - Once in your life you must travel to Mecca and do the Hadsch, ONLY if you have enough money to keep your family life up and still be able to go to Mecca.

-Describe the main belifes
We muslims believe that there is no god expect Allah, and that mohammed is his prophet. Jesus, Moses etc. are all his prophets. Allah doesnt have any sons, wifes, sisters, nothing.

-Which direction do muslims face when they pray?
They pray in the direction to Mecca[/b]
-What is the significance of Ramadan? When does it take place? What is done?
30 Days from sunrise till it goes down, ure not allowed to eat and drink, everyday the imam reads 1 site of the korean, if not more.
-What is the meaning behind the star and crescent moon?
Thats the turkey flag? It has nothing to do with islam o_o

Constantine is the first Roman Emperor who made Christianity the official religion in the Roman Empire. it was this decission that made it possible Christianity could grow this big.

Classical mythology was also one of my options.

"Traditions" was another term for "History" I guess since that's pretty much what the class was. It was interesting though. Even though our professor was a pastor, it was presented in a very secular way.

When I had to take that course it was HRE301. Really helped my average.

Ottawa here. I had no essay question luckily but I had 142 multiple choice/matching along with 7 short/long answer questions. I'm guessing you're grade 12 whereas I'm only in 11, probably the reason why.

edit
not sure on course code
