anyway, i'm going to get to my initial thoughts.
+ DMR > BR
+ needle Rifle > carbine
+ network coding is far superior to h3 (no dropping shots)
+ hitscan is BEAUTIFUL.
+ magnum is a great sidearm, very versatile, good at close range, good at assisting mid-range fights.
+ enjoying the new medals
+ the xp system will be nice for people who want to make themselves pretty.
+ new gametypes aren't terrible, would be surprised to see them in MLG but the concept of them is intriguing.
+ new sniper rifle is slightly easier to use
+ fall damage (which you can crouch last second to avoid i'm pretty sure, like in h1)
+ smooth textures, grenades don't get caught in random graphic crevices or bounce awkwardly.
+ new voting system is great
- powerhouse stockpile and one flag are pretty heavily imbalanced.
- plasma launcher too strong
- focus rifle arguably too strong
- magnum clip too small (an increase of 2-3 shots per clip would make a HUGE difference)
- reticle is too dull, get's lost in the scenery too often
- DMR bloom is a little much at times, not even close to gamebreaking however
- don't like the changes they made to swordbase during ctf games, leaves too many predictable routes to and from the flag room.
that's about all for now. armor abilities aren't too bad, i don't think i'm going to enjoy them forever, but they don't make me hate default settings like Halo 3 equipment did. so far it really seems like reach can challenge halo 2 if they don't change too much from the beta to retail, and mainly focus on polishing the game.
