Very sad to hear this.

After thinking about this and observing very mixed reactions from the community, I want to question the mods decisions to band two great, constructive members of SRF.

Before starting, I want to ask-if an "honorable member" such as Key-J or even SG himself were discovered to bot/support bot/violate forum policies, would he/she get banned? If, in the farthest extreme, every mod was found to be botting, would you ban them too?

Cracking down on these two members was wrong and unnecessary. As many have pointed out, cherished members have disappeared as a result and I have also seen a member blatantly defy the mods in the name of these two and get permabanned by turning him/herself in.

The bot war is a noble undertaking, but it should not be carried out in this community. Despite your power over this forum, banning will not guarantee that players will stop botting. Banning members on account of "proof" of botting accomplishes absolutely nothing. Nor is banning botting members your responsibility or concern. This is a fight that should be being carried out in Joymax's headquarters and in the lousy game itself.

I ask that all ex-members' bans be repealed, the "Exposed Botters" section be closed, and the SRF community never venture forth in a so-called bot war. At this rate, SRF will never be the thoughtful, brilliant community it used to be.

As a last note, shame, shame on those who fervently and deliberately sought to find members banned. Your actions will never resolve SRO's botting problems, and ratting on fellow SRFers proves nothing positive for your image. Getting a kick out of wanting and asking for members banned is just as bad as abusing the banhammer.

And if this thread is locked, it only further proves the mods' incompetency and unwillingness to face this growing problem in SRF. I wrote this thread to discuss this issue, not to challenge your authority. Thanks.

A little to late, but I notice there wasn't a peep out of you until prominent members were banned. Why is that pilot?

While I may agree with you on some points, it is not at our discretion to decide whether or not certain members get banned. Rules have been put in place on these forums and we as members are asked to follow them. If we chose to break any of the rules, we do so with full knowledge of the consequences.

lol. Retard, you fail. If you hate my thread that much, ask for it to be locked or just don't post. Apparently, I didn't use the search button BOOHOO.

I've been waiting for a chance to discuss this. What, did you expect me to write a thread like this after seeing the very first, 20 posts member get banned after being exposed? Tell me-how many people do you think would have even listened or cared if I had even made a thread like that? Why do you think people care so much about Sly and Deacon being banned? Its the exact same reason to why you're flaming.

/Lock. I'll post on the other thread.

No one hates your thread dearest Pilot, pray tell why wait? Was no Itonami's ban or Twelve Eleven's ban enough to incite an uproar? What of htrjoin (sp) he knew a large sum about this game, yet was there a peep? What of Luoma, was he not worthy of your crusade? You waited and missed out on a chance to let yourself be heard. The time has passed Pilot.

@KarmaPolice, because the internets are serious business.

They are like birds freely flying in the sky now. Dont call them back. In a cage, maybe they have good food there but, still, there is no freedom.

Ok Everyone here likes Deacon and Sylhana. But the facts are that there was proof of being bot supporters, and Syl even made a post saying that she was leaving. If we were to go soft now, then these forums would be disgraceful. I'm sure they will be missed, but it proves how far we have to go on the war on bots. SG clearly stated..

They broke the rules, they gotta go. It doesn't mean we hate em for it or anything, because they did a good job while they were here. I'm sure more respected SRFers will leave down the road or get banned because not everything happens overnight. They knew what they were doing was wrong and still did it. Break the Rules and you get banned. If you don't know what the rues are, Heres a link viewtopic.php?f=2&t=36691

@Pilot why do you think we should allow bot supporters here? Why should banned members get unbanned?
There isn't any Reason.
And be Careful on who call incompetent. Disrespecting staff is also against the rules. Personally I think they are doing a Terrific Job. And don't be quick to think it was an easy Desicion for them to make, as you can see it took awhile.

I think the War with bots here is stupid.. Why hate someone over a freaking game if someone bots why the fu.ck should you care... Besides it's only the gold botters that are so damn annoying it's possible to grind with a player botter.

EDIT: Not everyone thinks clicking/killing thousands on top of thousands of mobs is fun so they get a program to do it for them and they get to have fun jobing/pvping etc.

Why are so many ppl saying botting is ok as long as it's a player bot now? :banghead:

I Agree along the lines of what Pilot said, What did the war on bots IN this forum really accomplish? Sure we banned a bunch of botters, But does banning them from SRF really solve anything? Bet they login everyday and bot away. With the banning of countless "Elite" members for botting (If they did or not) What did that really accomplish? Now lets look at the negative effects, These people kepted quite about botting, never mentioned it (Not influencing anyone) Provided great knowledge and understanding for the game. Now that their banned The community has No real Experts on the game. I can't undo what has been done, But i can voice my opinion. My opinion is if you left them alone, would it really hurt anyone?

Now look what you got....

Thats my opinion take it how you want it :)

I said before that this "war on bots" is a misnomer. It does nothing to the bot population in SRO at all. Its simply a way to feel better about ourselves because most of us dont bot and SRF's way to show that it hates bots. So chill, I doubt the mods intended this in an attempt to discourage people from botting in SRO, they won't stop, you can't stop them. This is just a way to show SRF's position toward bots.

And you can't simply blame that someone is a loser and has no life by botting, but the real problem is Joymax itself. I doubt sylhana or luoma are actual losers in real life. People have fallen onto botting because Joymax is f*cking incompetant at anything. They just want money.

How many people do you think here has the time and money to hindgrind to the cap? Its nearly impossible, its overwhelming, and you feel like you are in an endless desert. When I used to play, at lvl 38, killing a mob would increase my lvl percentage 0.05%. Do you know how discouraging that is? I'm glad that I never spent money on a piece of shit that they call a game and I pity the people that spend loads and loads of money just to level up in a game that is getting worse and worse.

People will resort to botting. It is very ideal, what better way could you enjoy the game without having to spend money or time? Needless to say, it attracts many people, and you can't just blame them for doing that. The game is so bad and such a time and money sucker that botting is the only solution for them to enjoy the game. Even worse, Joymax makes the game so that you can only enjoy the game at a higher lvl. You have to blame joymax as well because they ruined this game and are preventing people from enjoying the game by handgrinding. Don't just think all the people here that bot are stupid people in real life, most of them probably aren't. Just think about it and you'll realize that joymax is a huge problem here.

There is a point that banning them from here won't stop them botting ingame, but if we let them post here, what say they won't convince other players and newbies to bot that start out here. Bottom line is, We Don't Support bots at all. And What's with the ppl getting sympathy only cause they were "Elite" members? A person here isn't judged by his post count, but by his contribution and respect they give here.

this guy said what I've been trying to say for a long time, but he said it in a more calm fashion. Most people on here that don't get this are usually arrogant little snobs or people who don't even play silkroad..or mods. Like honest to god go expose someone who is doing something bad in real life. I don't recall it being SRF's responsibility to decide who does what in a game and judge them accordingly.

are you blind, if there were elite they obviously have contributed and helped others out more then likely *especially mods*. they never said anything about bots to anyone, never encouraged it neither or do you have prove of it?

What? Since when did SRO become complex? In PvP all you have to do is press 2 buttons as fast as you can. How bout we mix it up by tossing in a ghost walk? Euros? One button for the most part.

You may find this hard to believe but there were "experts" on srf before Slyhana and Deacon joined the forums. There is nothing they know about the game that someone else is incapable of understanding. For the most part, we probably know the same things they know about the game. When it comes to knowledge of the game, everyone is replaceable.

Not to mention there was like a 3+ page topic about Slyhana supporting bots. Many were saying the mods were being unfair because Slyhana wasn't ban despite the evidence. Now that he is banned people are complaining all over again.

About a month ago people said srf was dying. I can't tell.

Did you even read SG post? He said they had plenty of proof on them being bot supporters. It's not like I'm demeaning them because of it. I'm just stating that they broke the very specific rules that they were suppose to enforce. And Elite just means you have a certain post count dude. And I know they have contributed a lot here. I was saying that you shouldn't automatically feel sorry for them because of their Status on the Forums.

Because it's an online game, and their breach of the ToS ruins the game for people who choose to play the game like it's meant to be played.

SRF has chosen to be a pro-legit forum; banning botters and bot supporters is the only fair for the legit players that this forum chooses to cater to. Should you not like it, there's always 0x33.

ping_lo is one of the most knowledgeable players of this game and he quit because of botters like your so-called "experts". Where do we go to talk about all the great members of this community who have quit because of bots? You're whining about people who broke the rules and have been banned? How about the legits that have given up because of all the cheaters? Not just in the game but the people who gave up on this forum because they felt that it harbored botters and had become anti-legit.

If you can't see that this game and community have been destroyed by botters - if you don't understand that the excuses are all just one big self-deceptive rationalization - then you're part of the problem.

It's interesting to see people whining and complaining about SRF's war on bots. Back when there was no war, people complained about the closet botters. They complained that everyone KNEW they botted, yet they were allowed to stay here despite the fact. Now that people are being banned, you complain because they were "Elite".

Do you really believe that after they are all gone that there will never be any new, knowledgeable people that join SRF? People come and go all the time. Who knows, maybe someday I'll have time to write some kind of a guide or something... but most anything I might want to write about has already been said. I still try to help out where I can.

SRF should not play favorites. It would send the wrong message to the community. If you break the rules, BAN. This SRF bot war might not solve problems in-game, but it was never meant to do that. At least that's how I've seen it. It was meant simply to clean up our forums and take a better stance on the whole "legit forum, anti-bot" thing. I'm glad they went that route.

Banning them doesn't mean we hate them. It just means that bots don't have a place on a legit forum. What's the point in a rule if it's not enforced?

Exactly.
This game is designed to be hard and the "near impossible to reach the cap" is meant to be so.
Because as long as you try to reach the cap, the game is a callenge oh, sry the game is a CHALLENGE .
And this is what gives ppl the most fun. A challenging game.
This is why i try to show my guildmates, when someone say "impossible" that someone is weak. There is no impossible.
huh... there is a site that hold a rly good speach about this
(adidas or nike ad was it with the face of Beckham?*grabs a brick*) But the whole giant placard on the wall had a rly good point: there is no impossible, its only hard but not impossible. Weak ppl say this word very often to attest their weaknesses.
How do you think champions are born? Or winners of the worldcup? Famous sportmans, soldiers(yes, war is art imho), (no politicians :D ), other ppl who contributed many great things to the culture of humanity?
They had a big goal and they gave everything for it.

EDIT: dam typos :?

seriously
even tho i dont rlly play sro now
these forums are awsome :D

im starting to like nuclear silo more and stuff.

i agree with everything da realest said :D

I wish everyone good luck in what their doing, and yeah, i know some ppl that wont bot just because they'd get banned from these forums, so it is working :)
You guys remember, when d2a was around?
I used to flame him all the time cause i couldnt bare he talking about stuff when all he did was cheating and bla bla bla.
Now with actions like these, everything will be differently.
Everybody will be more friendly, since our interests are commun.

Nowadays on srf, there's only a flame war when someone really really stupid posts a dumb thread, or when someone from time to time acts pro bot, they get flamed :)

So thank you so much srf team you're doing a good job and god lick your balls.

Peace ^^

Before starting, I want to ask-if an "honorable member" such as Key-J or even SG himself were discovered to bot/support bot/violate forum policies, would he/she get banned? If, in the farthest extreme, every mod was found to be botting, would you ban them too?

Yes they would be banned. Simple as Pie. if they were discovred to bot id honestly ban them my self.

SRF is a legitiment community , we like to keep it nice , freindly and legitiment if a player is found botting , We do NOT! want them here. just like a baker dosent want a bug in his bread. We know it dosent stop them botting that was never our aim in the first place. People like me and the rest of the SRF Staff keep this forum bot-free , we know our actions do not refelct anything in game. **** why dont we just let people post bots , no DC Client Since it dont affect anything ingame o yea IT DOES AFFECT THE GAME IN A HARMFUL WAY becasue we just become another place for people to get bots from.

The sole reason why we started this war is to Clense this forum free it form the closet botting scum that came to it. BOTS DO NOT HAVE A HOME HERE , it is OUR Rules we can set them to whatever we like Nobody is forcing you to stay here.

This SRF bot war might not solve problems in-game, but it was never meant to do that.
