Hybrid Int Sword and Shield Guide

By Marce_

I wanted to try this build out because I was tired of playing with traditional builds such as pure str glavie, pure int s/s and pure str blader. I thought i'd be great to stray from the same builds and go for something unique. This build is based on the lvl. 80 cap. THe purpose of this build is for those who want to tank and deal a great amount of damage. THis biuld does not show it's full potential only until lvl's 69+. I will show you the way I am farming this build but by no means does that mean you must too. At lvl. 80 you should have 40 str points on your character adding ab out 1-3k HP to your character as well as physical damage increase and physical defense increase. I would recommend to go pure int until llv. 66 where you would add two int points and one str point. From there on you would add only str, therefore making it 40 str points in total. Why would you go pure int in the first 65 lvl's? Because you will be able to lvl. up the fastest but again you may choose to put them at your discresscion. Be adviced that this build is heavy on skill poits so you WILL NEED TO FARM alot.

Sword and Shield

For this bild it is necessary to have a weapon with three things: Hiigh magical attack power, Critical, and Attack Rating. As for your final weapon you will have to empty out your pockets for a weapon with stats 40% for everything except not much for the reinforcement (but it's better if you do). The shield is the mian component in this build. It should always have a blocking ratio of 16 or more and as for your final weapon you should have blocking ratio 18 if you wanna be able to tank really good.

Gear

Since this is a Hybrid build, I would go for Protector since it would increase your magcal and physical damage all at the same time while increasing moderately your magical and physical defense as well. If you are an anti-str build :D , then you could go ahead and wear Armor. I advice you though that you do not wear garment otherwise pure str aor str based builds will have the upper hand against you.

Mastery to SP:

Bicheon: 80

Total SP spent on this mastery: 125,953 SP

Fire: 80

Total SP spent on this mastery: 116,182 SP

Light: 80

Total SP spent on this mastery: 117,866 SP

Cold: 60

Total SP spent on this mastery: 24,927 SP

Total SP: 384,928 SP

Masteries:

BIcheon Mastery:

In this mastery will be where all your physical damage derives from. It can be used to deal great damage against heave Int based builds. This mastery helps in great temporary physical defense, increasing your blocking ratio, and with a few crits, dealing a great amount of damage.

Shield Technique Series 18,261 SP

This series greatly increases your physical defense for about 15 seconds. It can be used against str based builds to prevent getting hit for great amount of damage. It should be used carefully at the right time because it can be a life saver. It is one of the main reasons that makes this build tank. Max all the skills in it, except for Mountain shield and Giant Shield.

Hidden Blade Series 36,902 SP

This series is a must. Knockdowns help you pot up when you are low and can save your life. They are also a great way of dealing damage expecially witha good crit or two. Max it out.

Killing Heaven Blade Series 20,138 SP

Obviously the follow up for a knockdown. It can be what wins you the fight if you can land a good crit hit on the opponent. Max it out.

Shield Protection Series (Passive) 5,844 SP

This series can be one of the most important of all. It increases your blocking ratio which can be a life saver as it blocks and canels your opponents damage, max it out.

Fire Mastery:

In this mastery is where you get your imbue, for a great part of your damage. It also helps in physical damage increases for your bicheon skills, magical defense, and abnormal status reduction. This is where your strongest nuke derives from.

Fire Force Series 21,769 SP

This series will be your imbue, which is one of the most important series of all. This is where most of your power derives from. Max it.

Fire Shield Series N/A SP

This series helps prevent abnormal status. Get a good final set of accesories with abnormal prevention blues and you are set to go. Max it.

Flame Body Series 5,033 SP

This series increases your physical attack which is great when dealing bicheon based attacks such as KD and Stab. Max it.

Fire Protection Series 20,082 SP

ALthough Int based builds have a lot of magical defense, this bild is a Hybrid build and needs as much magical defense help as possible. Max it.

Flame Wave Series 18,628 SP

This series is your fire nuke series and whre you will have your strongest attack from. Although there are four nukes in this series I went with Fire Wave Burning only since I will have also two (which are the second and third strongest nukes) lightning nukes. You must lvl. the first fire nuke in order to lvl. Flame Wave burning. YOu can max out the rest. I maxed out just Burning.

Flame Devil Force Series (Passive) 5,844 SP

This passive helps increase your physical attack. Increase it so you can deal more damage with bicheon based attacks. Max it out.

Light Mastery:

In this mastery will be where you get your other nukes for pve as well as pvp. It also helps in increasing your magical attack power, speed (also zooming fast), and increasing parry ratio.

Piercing Force Series 5,892 SP

This series increases your magical attack power. It will help you deal more damage with your nukes. Max it.

Wind Walk Series 25,521 SP

THis series increases your speed as well as helps you zoom very rapidly from one area to a great distance of another one. You should use this at all times including for jobbing and grinding. In pvp Ghost Walk Phantom and Shadow can be used to get away from your opponent in order to pot up when your HP is critically low. Max it.

Concentration Series 14,058 SP

This series increases your parry ratio, which decreases the damage dealt to you. Max it.

Thunderbolt Force Series 21,725 SP

THis series will be your other set of nukes. It is best to use the last two books ince they are the strongest. In pve this can be used to attract more monsters to you or to kill several monsters at a time. Max it.

Heaven's Force Series (Passive) 5,844 SP

This passive premanently increases your parry ratio. Max it.

Cold Mastery:

THis mastery is mainly used to increase your physical defense as well as using Snow Shield to convert your MP at a set percentage into your HP.

Frost Guard Series 6,422 SP

This series increases your physical defense, which is a big h elp since you will need the extra physical defense against str based builds. Max it until lvl. 60.

Snow Shield Series 4,061 SP

This series consumes your MP by a set percentage instead of your HP. It can be a life saver and it helps you tank. Max it until lvl. 60.

Cold Armor Series (Passive) 1,680 SP

This passive prementantly increases your physical defense. Max it until lvl. 60.

Farming and Leveling:

There are many ways of farming your character. You can farm the way you'd like to. From the Bandit Stronghold farming to the Penons Ice farming. Either way you choose to farm, make sure you have enough to make your SP at the appropriate amount.

I 0 gapped it to lvl. 69 and then deleved my masteries to lvl. 60. Then I'm 9 gapping it to lvl. 73, which should have me fully farmed.

Here's how the SP chart shows it:

lvl. Sp at 9 gap

69 87,632 SP

70 91,577 SP

71 100,004 SP

72 104,505 SP

73 109,207 SP

Total: 492,925 SP

This is way more than fully farmed. You can either do that or once you've reached the amount stated at the top of this giuld you can close your gap mid. lvl. 73 and be fully farmed up to that point and lvl. to 80 fully farmed. Either way is fine.

Special Thanks:

I'd like to give special thanks to my brother 1hiT_NuKe for...yeah thanks anyways..lol :D . Rainigul for the images. I'll plan on adding them later :D . silkroadforums for letting me post my guide here, and to anyone who takes their time to read this guide. I hope you enjoy it and maybe actually make a character based on it.

Few things I noticed. First is that what you wear in terms of armor/protector/garment has NO effect on damage. Also, most hybrid ints with that amount of str tend to use garments due to the fact that the added phys defense and hp allows them to use garments. If anything, garments are recommended for a hyb int s/s with that much str. About the weapon, any build with that kind of gear can do extremely well, and as you go higher in level, reinforcements get more and more important. I would rather use a 40% mag attack/40% mag reinforce weapon than a 60% mag attack/20% mag reinforce weapon. The flame body series and passive are completely optional, because even though you are hybrid int, your phys damage is still pitifully low. Lastly, about your farming method. It will easily take you months to level from 69~73 with a 9gap, and 500k sp is overkill. I suggest keeping a small gap, like 0~3 for a while until your skills fall too far behind, then open a 9 gap and farm some sp until you have enough to catch up all your skills.

Let's start by saying that you want the MOST PHY. defense possible so Protector would suit best. It will have average mag. and phy reinforcement which helps maintain a balance.

You want a weapon with all stats 40%+

By being Hybrid Int doesn't mean your phy damage is pitifully low. Can you do 4-6k dmg on a pure str glavier 5-7 lvl's above you? Didn't think so. Upping Flame Body Series is a must to add EVEN more phy damage to your bicheon skills. I said it's optional to farm with a 9 gap at those levels. I am doing it becuase I play 8+ hours every day. I meant to farm for 430k SP, not 500k SP pay attention please. It helps for when 9D comes out, YOU DONT have to do it.

You might want to delete that part then. Right now I am a 88% naked hyb int sword with an average prot set. All the stats are good on it, and I have 54 int in total on everything, bringing my mag balance to 105%. Right now I have the most trouble against other int's. Especially the ones with high level frost shield. With your 40 str, which is a 85% mag balance iirc, int's will do even more damage to you, which is why I suggest garms. With ice tree, str on gear, and good stats/+ on your garms/shield, str's are no problem, and the mag defense from garments help a lot against other int's.

Of course you want a weapon with all stats 40%+. Who doesn't?

Now, about the last part in your post, yes, your phys damage is pitiful. By that, I mean a non imbue hit. Weapon skills + imbue is both mag/phys, where your imbue is doing most of the damage. If you attack someone 5~7 levels above you with NO IMBUE and do 4~6k damage, then I will take back my statement.

Total: 492,925 SP

Thats close to 500k sp, sure you could end it early, but still. Also if you were doing this at an early level, it would be good. But since you are already 69+, your masteries are already at lvl 60+, which I also think so are most of your skills. Sure some skills will be behind, but you will have to subtract the amount of sp from all the skills from lvl 0~60 from your total amount, to see how much sp you need for your skills after lvl 60. Right now you are farming for skills that you already have.

How did you 0 gapped it to 69? Did you have enough sp for all necessary skills? Which skills did you upgrade?

I'm surprised 0 gap would yield any number close to what's needed. According to CobbZ, a 1 gap is needed to support the lightning tree alone.
