Mkay. You have several choices here.

Pure STR or a 70:70 Hybrid.

I suggest your sp be placed in this way:

80 bow/ 80 fire/ 80 lightning/ 60 cold or something else.

lol, not the several i was expecting, heh.

The 70:70 hybrid....what level have you gotten this build to? Im not here to cut it down, but suggesting something that you either havent played, or havent played long isnt a good idea cause if it flops, it could cause a lot of wasted time and money. Instead, i would just point him\her to the thread and let them read and decide.

The typical 'cookie-cutter' bower is a Pure Str with Fire\lightning.

Really, you should read the Characters Skills section. It has lots of build guides and you can see different views for\against any build.

Well I can tell you from my experience. I leveled a 70:70 archer to 46, she always had nice gear and a good bow, and she always got owned in pvp by anyone around her level with a decent build.

Perhaps this will change at lvl 70+. Regardless, I think for this build to work well you need to have a ton of SP for all the buffs and passives and you also need to have extraordinary gear.

My pure str archer is lvl52 now and she's yet to get beat by anyone close to her level 1v1. Once again she has really good gear and a super bow but now I can tank with her like a mofo.

In my humble opinion, pure STR is the only way to go.

whats your definition of cookie cutter, from my experience in D2, cookie cutter means basically killing machine

yeah sure, try the 70:70 bow and tell us how you find it

i've always considered Cookie cutter to mean the basic build for that class/weapon.

There are two reasons why many go for Pure Str though.

1) Str Hybrids are weak. They have less HP and do less damage than Pure Strs.
2) The bow is built on crits. Pure Str means you will have stronger crits.

It sounds like this is your first character so I am going to go a different route from some of the other posts above.

First off with the pure strength verses the 70:70 build. each has its pros and cons.
Pure strength = less damage dealt but more health(harder to kill)
70:70 hybrid= more damage dealt but less health.

This is how the game is balanced. You have a choice being able to survive lots of hits and doing less damage. Or dealing more damage and dying easier with lower hp.

The tried and true build is pure strength, you are guaranteed not to suck but some people have very succesfully pulled off hybrid builds.

This is the easiest archer build.
Its easy because it requires the least amount of sp allowing you to level quickly.

In my opinion grasswalk is one of the most important skills you can have. It allows you to run fast and chase down enemys or runaway from certain death. It saves you lots of time in everyday grinding running from mob to mob.

So
If you are not sp farming then in my opinion you should only do 2 skill trees, 1 weapon 1force.
Stick with lightning and pacheon trees.

true fire does alittle more damage at first but the lightning magic buff will compensate at higher levels.

Ice is great against monsters but against other people at higher levels you will be at a disadvantage because it is relativly easy to be resistant or immune to freezing and ice does the least amount of damage compared to fire and lightning.

Read the archer build and Alfreds healer guide
http://sro.mmosite.com/guides/index.shtml

This build will not make you the strongest but you will be able to hold your own without having to farm 200sp.

To me, cookie cutter = identical builds based on weapon.

You want a Glaive? Everyone says Pure Str / Fire
You want a Bow? Everyone says Pure Str / Fire
You want a Blade? Most everyone says Pure Str / Fire
You want a Sword? Most everyone says Pure Int / Fire
You want a Spear? Most everyone says Hybrid Int / Fire

^^ These to me are cookie cutter builds cause thought rarely goes into them, people look for a template and copy it.

In the end, your just like everyone else except your gear is different.

ur not using lightning for main mastery so make it 69, ur only using it for buffs and grass walk, fire is main mastery and put fire at lvl 80 with bow
