9. Increasing Experience points:

Quote:
This is a great way of leveling up quicker. You must create a party first. Before starting a party, change the settings of the party. Press P to open the Party Window. Now choose 'Set'. Select Respective Experience instead of Distribution/Sharing. What's the difference between a Sharing party and a Respective party?

A Sharing party can invite up to seven members including the party leader which makes the party to eight. This is a great way to journey as a team, but the disadvantage of it... you only obtain such little experience points. Basically, this kind of partying is not recommened for most advanced players.

A Respective party can only invite up to three members including the party leader which makes it four in total. The huge advantage of this is that you'll obtain an experience points boost! Every player you invite to your party, you'll get a +20 EXP for each kill you do on a NPC. Example, a young tiger gives you only 240EXP on solo, while in a four member respective party, it becomes to 300EXP!!! NO SHARING!!! This is really, absolutely... VERY USEFUL to level up quickly.

I only ask that your party must be balanced. Meaning, players that are in range of your current level and able to work together as a team and travel together. Most importantly... make sure that your party members communicates... really, really important and check if he or she can speak English or any kind of language you speak. Also, players that are ~AFK~ and are not training you have the choice of banning he or she although, you still gain the experience boost while that player is ~AFK~. My suggestion is that you can keep he or she, but your not getting help from that player. Ban that player and invite another!

Take it from me, a party member leveled up three times in a hour and a half when I created a four member respective party. ENJOY LEVELING QUICK!!! =D

10. General Things:

Quote:
Stats

Strength(Str): increases hp, the physical attack/defence and the physical balance
Intelligence(Int): increase mp, the mental attack/defence and the mental balance

They do not affect hit/parry rate. Hit/parry rate increases by one on every level up. Each level you get you gain 5 stats. 2 are distributed automatically, 1 into str and 1 into int. The other 3 stats can be distributed manually.

Physical/mental balance

They factored into the damage you done so the higher it is the more damage you'll do. For example, a physical attack of 100-140 and a physical balance of 80% will give you a damage range from 80-112. It's more complicated than this but this is the general idea.

Hit/Parry rate

There's NO DODGE in SRO. REPEAT NO DODGE, IN THE PAST, PRESENT, OR FUTURE. >_< Hit/parry rate simply increase the chance of doing a high damage in attacking and receiving a lower damge, under the damage range. Take the damage range from above: 80-112. The higher the hit rate, the more likely you'll do damage closer to the maximum 112. If that's the damage you're receiving, the higher the parrying rate the more likely you'll receive damge closer to the minimum 80.

But sometimes I see a red "block" pops up and I receive no damage!

That's because you're holding a shield. A shield have a blocking rate, will equals to the parcentage you'll block an attack. So for a blocking rate of 10, you'll have 10% blocking the attack and rececive no damage. I currently don't know if it'll block skills also.

Equipments

There're five classes of weapons
Swords: can equip shields, mental based, double attack
Blades: can equip shields, physical based, double attack, lower critical
Spears: two-handed, highest mental power, higher critial
Glavies: two-handed, highest physical power, Slow weapon
Bows: two-handed, long range, fast attack, relative low physical/mental power

There're three classes of body equips:
Armor: high physical defence, low mental defence
Garment: high mental defence, low physical defence
protector: balance in physical and mental defence

Armor and protector equipments can be mixed but garment cannot mix with either of them. In addition, wearing full protector/garment sets will give you bonus:
full protector set: -10% mp usage, +10% moving speed
full garment set: -20% mp usage, +20% moving speed

Armor sets does not gives any bonus.

Blue equipments are equips with extra stats. There can be one to several stats on the blue equips.
Power and Mental: simply adds the number of power/mental points
Reduce status: reduce the duration of a status by a percentage, there're five types: freezing/frostbite, burn, shocked, poison, zombie
Immortal: When upgrade fails prevents equipments from breaking(losing the item)
Steady: When upgrade fails prevents equipemtns from losing durablity
Lucky: Increase chance of sucessful upgrade
Immortal, steady and lucky has a number of times use, and when the number reach zero the stat is gone.
Unrepairable: Cannot be repaired, durabily is 4 times larger than normal. (never seen any number other then 4 times)

Special shoes (I believe that's a bad translation)
There's a phyical and mental special shoes with every equips. This number determines the power/defence increased in an upgrade. It is said that 10% special shoe equals to 1 power/defence increase but this is not tested in the english SRO.

Degrees
Equipments comes in sets. Within a set there's 3 different leveled equips for each body part. A set is then given a degree based on the level of the equipments. So the first set (lvl 1-8) is degree 1, second set (lvl 9 -16) is degree 2, etc. This is only use in upgrading where you need to have the same degree lucky powder to boost in chance of sucess.

Status effects
Status effects are given an effect number, and there's an effect number with every status effect skills. Using pills or healing qi simply reduce the amount of effect number, and then the effect number is equal to zero the effect is cured For example, if you're burned for effect 60, and you take a piil which heals status of effect 36, you'll still have the status for effect 24. It looks like effect points affect the status duration, but i'm not sure.

Now the status effects
Burn: you lose some hp every few seconds. hp loses are random but higher level burn does more damage. The random burn sometimes will do as much as 10x damage.
Electric shock: Lowers parry rate, thus increasing the chance of doing higher damage. This does NOT stun or slows you in anyway.
Freezing: Ah, the pvp status effect king. It renders you immobile, so your opponent can hit you without fear of retaliation.
Frostbite: Slows you down and decreses your attack speed.
poision: same as burn but damage taken is constant.
zombie: when any hp skills or potion is used, hp is decreased instead of healing you.
Damage:
White Numbers: This is showing the amount of damage you are giving to the enemy.
Red Numbers: This is showing the amount of damage you are taking.
Orange Number: this is showing damage being taken by fire status.
Greenish Yellow Numbers: This is showing the damage being taken by poison status.
Block: This shows that the damage was totally negated. Only characters with shields can block.

Is there a stun effect?
Yes in the spear skill tree the fourth skill (lvl 14) has a chance to stun. When stunned you'll glow yellow and a yellow tornado-like spiral will appear on your head. Unlike other effects stun does NOT allow item usage so unless you got a healer behind you you're stunned for the whole time.

Tips and tricks

Buy things in a batch
Tired of dragging the potions to your inventory then type the amount in? just hold ctrl and left click on the potion and you'll buy a batch of 50.

Manually turn off stat-raising effect
Right click on the little effect icon to discard the effect (e.g. attack up, defence up, etc.)

Extra experience points
When set to respective acquire experience, for every extra member in the party there's a 2.5% exp bonus. So a full 4 persons respective party will have an extra 10% exp bonus.

Sohonseok
This item can be bought in the general store, and when used summon a red lantern-like thing in the field. Upon killing the "lantern" it'll explode and kill the attacker. This "lantern" use actually used for killing botters but I think the botters in Chinese SRO already found a way to avoid them >_> They can only be used once per hour.

Stat-up skill with a different weapon
some stat-up skills requires a weapon or a shield(example bow attack-rating increase). The effect actually does not disappear when you take off the requiring equipment. So you can equip the require tools, cast the skills, then re-equip your major weapon, and you'll still have the buff.

Does imbues skills stack?
No they don't. You can only activate one imbue skill at anytime. However, different stat-up/down skill can be used together, for example you can have physical and mental defence up, burn, and electric shock together.

Glowing equipments
Equipments glows when it's upgraded. There're still effects:

+3 +4 silvery white glow
+5 +6 purple red-ish glow
+7 +8 Golden glow
+9 blue-green-ish glow

11. The use of the Resuscitation potion:

Quote:

After you have created a potion, you will no longer be able to get 'Curst Heart' drops (as far as I can tell). If you want to be able to resume collecting hearts, you will have to go back through the correct 'starting quest' conversation path with an herbalist again.

Once you have 'Resuscitation Potion' items, you again talk to any herbalist, choose the skill reset quest conversation path, and choose the KOREAN option in the conversation. This option will be very obvious. If you have Korean set as your default Windows Non-Unicode language, the option will be in Korean characters, if not, it will look like gibberish. In either case, this option will open up a new window. This window will look very similar to your normal 'skill up' menu, and works very similar too.

Select the skill you want to de-level by clicking on the red 'DN' icon under it. A new window will pop up asking you to select the desired level to reset the skill to. Use the Up/Down arrows next to the skill level to select the level you wish. If you want to drop a skill more than one level, you will need ONE POTION FOR EVERY LEVEL YOU WANT TO DROP. This means you need to collect (Number of levels to remove * 10) 'Curst Heart' quest items.

WARNING!! This is a VERY expensive path. Going from level 2 to level 1 in a skill costs over 16,000 gold, and going from level 3 to level 2 in a skill costs over 19,000 gold, and going from level 3 to level 1 costs 36,000+ gold!! (I have not tried skills of any higher level.)

When you drop a skill level, you will get back 80% of the SP used to originally gain that level. Before 'purchasing' your de-level, you will be informed of how many SP you will recieve, along with the required price in gold.

Changing Mastery Level:

To lower a mastery level, you must have NO skill leveled up that requires that level of mastery. You will know when you meet the requirement for this as a red 'Level Down' button will appear next to your mastery level in the 'de-level' window. After that, it's the same process as lowering a skill level.

12. The Basic Information on Alchemy:

Quote:
What is alchemy?
Alchemy is enchanting you weapon, armor, or accessory.

What does alchemy do?
If you have ever seen a weapon, armor, or accessory with a (+1), or (+2) etc. after the item name, this is what alchemy does.

How many +# can I have on an item?
You can have up to a +9 from my understanding although I’ve yet to see any this high. The highest I have seen is a +7. The +# on weapons also gives different color glows depending on how many +s you have. For example a + 3 weapon would give just a nice shiny glow to your weapon.

What does the +# after the item name mean?
This basically means that the item is 1, 2, or 3 etc. levels higher then its current level although it is not as good as an item actually that level would be.

What do I need to do alchemy?
An item, elixir, and a lucky powder are the only things needed. The lucky powder isn’t necessarily needed but it is recommended because it seems to give a much better chance of a successful enchant.

Tips for better success in enchanting:
Lucky powders: Increases the chances of the alchemy succeeding.
Mods-
Steady: If enchanting fails it prevents equipments from losing durability.
Immortal: If upgrade fails prevents equipments from breaking(losing the item).
Lucky: Increase chance of successful upgrade.

Now let’s learn how to use alchemy on an item. Let’s say you want to enchant your level 24 bow. Lets say your bow has 4th degree on it so go to the grocery store in Donwhang and buy a 4th degree lucky powder. Once you buy the lucky powder you need to find or buy a weapon elixir since a bow is a weapon, once you got all of that press “A” and right click the alchemy action; it looks like an open scroll. This will bring up a new box with an empty square this is where you place your bow, so put it in there now. When you place your box in the empty box 2 other boxes will open up this is where you place your weapon elixir and lucky powder. Go ahead and do that, once you have press the Joint button. In the chat window it will let you know if the alchemy succeeded or failed.
If you had +2, +3 etc. and the enchant fails you will loose those +s, durability and even possibly loose the item, I haven’t lost the item yet from a failed enchant so it’s a low percentage to loose the item. That’s about it on enchanting an item, good luck.

13. Frequently Asked Questions:

Why do some people have birds?
Birds are a hunter skill, it makes your hit rate go up.

How do i get a horse?
Buy on at the stables, if you get off them they disappear. Buy alot of horse potions when your ging on long trips cause i think they have a time limit or get slower.

Can your pvp in this game?
Yes you can. But i dont reccomend you do this freely because it gets annoying. to pvp yur have to be level 20 or level 10 with a cape, you can buy them at the genral shop. if you pvp with a cape your wont lose exp when you die to another person. when using ca cape you can oney attack cape users

Whats the strongest class?
There is no strongest class, all depends on how you build your character.

Are there any jobs in this game?
There are no jobs your skillpoints and build decide your build.

Is this game free to play?

How do I Set a new respawn point in a new village?
Go to the dimensional gate, which looks like a blue portal.

What to do if i am a Murder?

Quote:
Note: everybody involved in this scenario is above lvl 20.

Ok, you are sitting around lvling, minding your own business, and some punk KSes you. You look and notice he got a really nice item from it too. In a fit of rage, you hold the alt button down and attack him. After a moment he goes down, and you are partially relieved.
Then you see that your name is a funny red color. Congratulations! You are a murderer!

First thing to do is look at the nice number showing you how deep a grave you have dug yourself. There is a little box with a skull on it just below your MP bar. If you put your mouse on it you will see some info. The one that is important here is the really big one, probably around 1200 for your first kill.
Until you work this number down to 0, you get sone nasty penalties.

Penalties:
Cannot use recall scrolls or horses. Just a minor inconvenience, and keeps you from outrunning the glory-seekers who are now going to be in your tail.
Slowly take damage while in town. You can still make runs into town and buy stuff as long as you didn't kill too many people, but you have to get back out again pretty fast. This one is not too bad.
Lose sp and extra xp on death. This one hurts a lot, mobs cause you to lose 3x normal xp and players lose you 2x i believe.
Drop equipment. When you die, you have a chance of dropping your gear, depending how high your score is. After one or two kills, you will probably usually drop one item per death.
The worst part, is other players get to kill you, and do so without thinking twice. Most people seeing a red name tend to jump you immediately. Some wait till you are fighting a mob to attack you. People dont bother to wait and listen to the fact that the guy you killed had it coming.

How to work off your murder points:
Kill or Die.
1) Kill mobs. Every mob you kill takes off a few points, based on its level. A short attemp at working off the points at the bandit stronghold yeilded 3 points per bandit.. no more even for giants. If you decide to go this way.. Good Luck! I'd recommend finding someplace secluded, otherwise you will get PKed every ten seconds.

2) Die. Every death takes points off, at a high cost to xp. Players killing you take off 200 points and mobs killing you take off 600. My recommendation would be to find a rezzer that you trust, and find someplace to let mobs whack you repeatedly while he rezzes you and gives you back the stuff you drop.

In an incedent similar to the one above, after all was said and done, my total damages were this:
Players murdered: 2 (original and then some hunter who attacked me.)
XP lost: 15% of level 20.
Gold worth of items lost: 40k.
Deaths to mobs: 2.
Deaths to players: 5.
Mobs killed: about a hundred.

As you can see, being a murderer sucks. I would only recommend it if you have a powerful guild behind you to back you up and discourage random people from trying to kill you. Heh, I would love to see an entire guild of murderers.

14. SP FARMING:

Quote:
To SP farm, you want to maximize the most SP (Skill Points) you can get per monster. In order to do this, your skill masteries levels (your forces, such like Ice, Fire, Lightning, etc) must be lower than your current level.

SRO takes your highest mastery level (It's the level of one of your forces/skills, i.e. say I have Ice lv 10, and Fire lv 8, lv 10 is then my highest) and computes it against your level.

Now, let's go by example.

Say I'm level 16. I'm SP farming at the Bandit Stronghold (where if I can remember correctly, the Archers/etc are level 12/13).

Let's also say my highest mastery force is Ice, at level 10. Say then now each mob is giving me 100 EXP, and 200 SP. That's pretty good! (slow leveling but giving you lots of SP)

Now, if I use my exisiting skill points to raise my level of my Ice mastery, say to level 15 or 16, this will GREATLY increase the damage/effectiveness coming from my Ice skills, and also now, if you have seen some screenshot/personal anecdote evidence, you should be getting about then 200 EXP and 100 SP per monster.

So, in simple terms

Difference between your highest mastery skill and your level is LARGE (4-6+ levels), little EXP, lots of SP!
Difference between your highest mastery skill and your level is LTTLE/NONE, lots of EXP, little SP!

So, while you might be leveling slow, you will be gaining massive amounts of SP. Then, when you think you have enough, pump one of your skills up to your current level and you will then most likely level faster 10 fold.

And at least when you copy a whole article, try to remove the Quotes and tell the name of the real creator: SHaW :x

Reasons I don't like it:

1. You don't credit anyone. Always cite your sources!
2. It's hard to read because of its length and lack of formatting.
3. Parts of it are copy / paste from other guides in the same forum. Redundancy is wasteful.

:P

Make headings and sub-headings easier to read by changing the color or the size of the font. Don't make the font too big though.

Keep quotes relatively short. If you want to include a large quote, simply post an excerpt or comment and a link to the original. It looks better, it ensures that people will have updated information if / when the original is changed, and it gives credit to the original author. Readers can also comment and read comments on the original. If you want to check out a fully formatted guide, check out this one.

also, i noticed (and yes, i read all of it) that there is some missing and incorrect information in your guide. before this one is sticky-worthy, it will need bonzai's formatting and the misinformation to be cleared up. spend some time, and we'll see how it goes :)

props for spending the time and effort. it's appreciated :)

a good addition to the guide would be a description of the trader, hunter, and thief jobs. since they're the driving force behind the pvp system, it makes sense to include them. the only thing i saw about jobs in it was this:

Quote:
Are there any jobs in this game?
There are no jobs your skillpoints and build decide your build.

i know what you meant, since most games have fixed jobs that determine the skills available, etc, but it's a bit vague and misleading to someone who's never played before i'd think.

9. Increasing Experience points:

...
...

VERY USEFUL to level up quickly.

...
...

Take it from me, a party member leveled up three times in a hour and a half when I created a four member respective party. ENJOY LEVELING QUICK!!! =D

while a distribute party IS a good way to level quicker, you'll get nowhere NEAR the kind of increase you're talking about here. 240 to 300? in a 4 person party? that's like a 25% boost, which you can't even get with a full 8 person share party. the boost for a 4 person party is between 8-10%. it isn't a fixed +20 exp per person, it's a percentage, and it's way less than stated.

and if a party member leveled 3 times in and hour and a half, even considering the 10% exp, they were probably level 15 or below. i'd say probably below 12. at higher levels there is NO WAY to level that fast.

basically, what i mean to say is this: if you're going to quote people, you should at least make sure they know what they're talking about before sticking it in a guide. and credit given to the poster is a nice touch too.
