Ok, hi i'm new here so don't say "Wow its so easy you noob, you do... blah blah" Ok? Good  . Now i've been following the guide http://www.silkroadforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=42811&highlight=pk2+edit+monster<<Here
. I want to change the ice nuke to the skill 'Cold Wave Arrest' but i dont know where i can find 'Cold Wave Arrest' in the list of skills in 'skilleffect.txt'. Can someone tell me where i can find the location of it or the name of it? Thanks

It is easy but only after you have seen it and read it several times, if you are not familiar with it, it's confusing, so i understad people don't get it at first.
Cold Wave Arrest:
SKILL_CH_COLD_BINGPAN_A
SKILL_CH_COLD_BINGPAN_B
SKILL_CH_COLD_BINGPAN_C
As far as i know there are only 2 books of cold wave arrest, but the file has 3 strings, maybe it's like the fourth book of fire nuke... hidden skills ftw hehe

Oh no! It came up with the ??????? error! How can i fix this? My skilleffect.txt file is the same size as the backup i made of it and I put the whole contents in the media.pk2 file correctly... Is the media.pk2 (edited version) ment to be the same size as the origional? or doesn't it matter if theyre different file sizes's?

i'll be looking foward to your reply (= heh heh,. i'll bet after the first one, u can do the second one even faster. ^.^ if you get it right that is.
Edit: wow, post at same time. Yes, it have to be the same byte or you'll get ?????.

Yes the size must be the same...

i didn't pm him. in this forum it's hard to find the PM box.... tho i PMed someone that couldn't get his pk2 extractor work.. i think it was xmoshe.

Yes, the media pk2 have to be the same byte (file size) as the original. JM like to make PK2 hard for us, that's why.

Not just JM... almost every game has an "unmodyfiable" file, but, of course, it can be fooled...

*shrug* and JM is the one who makes us D/C to start the client over and over...  . JM likes to make everything hard, IMO xD. but true the fact about the unchangable files...

Ok i have just found out.. when i made the modified pk2 (with the skill mod) i checked to see if the size was the same, it was EXACTLY, but it STILL comes up with ???????? error.... A lil help?

1st= When you inject your skilleffect.txt, did it end at FF, FE?
2nd=I hope you added nullbytes using 00 00 00 00
3rd=Replace media.pk2 and start from scratch.
4=Replace skilleffect, and media.pk2. and start over
I hope you replced your media.pk2 with backup the first time u got ???? error...

welll, just so i make sure my mod is right, would you be able to change the 'Cold Wave Arrest lvl 1' to the first lvl ice nuke, thats what ive been trying.. so if you could mod that for me so i dont have any mistakes, then upload it, i will be so happy^^

It's no use... the files change constantly, the mod would stop working soon...

I guess he could make a guide. Maybe if you looked in skilleffect and changed some of the .efp files that go along with cold wave arrest. It should work - if you take a look at my guide in editing imbues.
