The title basically says it lol I've got some spare time on my hands, so i'm planning to play some sro again. Downloading SRO-R to check what's new, but i think i'm going to play on some private server again. But what server to play on, there are soooo many out there, i heard about silkroad salvation (i think i still got a char on there), silkroad revelations, myth online,... Like everybody i think, i prefer an active server with a nice community. And yes, i've seen the thread about it a few posts down, but i'm not quite sure it's still relevant in the ever changing landscape of private servers Thanks in advance

Salvation's still going on pretty well. Relevation's the new server some of us are playing at the moment.
So far, Relevation has done a good job in keeping bots out due to its client version, although it's still pretty new and there's not much activity going on.

Theres a chinese-only 80 cap server aswell, Apollo (playsro). Its pretty populated, like ~700 ppl on at the same time, etc. But it allows bots (or there are a lot of bots but doesnt allow it) and grinding spots are very crowded.

In my head at least, potential describes what a server can become in the long run (the future). Salvation has pretty much positioned themselves now. And one may like or dislike what they have done to the game. But what I'm getting at is, that a new server will often have more potential than an old server (note: I do realize that Salvation might re-position to a PVP server - or at least so I've heard). Now, I'm not saying this isn't a reason to plan on a old server. I am just commenting on your use of the word "potential", you sexy beast (ps. we no hat eon your mic, menz!) As I play on Revelations I'll obviously recommend that server. It has a rising activity at this point, and the server is still new, which means you'll not be far behind of the best players, as nobody really has a pimped set yet. No matter where you go, I wish you the best of luck

No new servers ever get more then 50-70 people. Sure it may have a bit of a spike now, but this is the highest population it'll ever have. By potential, I meant possibilities. Salvation has double the players, double the content, and it's been strict on botting since day one. Once someone creates a bot to fit Revelations client version, which they will, I highly doubt they'll be as strict on enforcing no botting as Salvation is, and always has been.

Yes indeed, Salvation has done a great job on fighting bots. Doubt there'll be a bot out for the jsro files anytime soon, though. Seeing as the files are not leaked anywhere else, which means only this one - yet small - server users the files Anyway, check your PM's

In Salvation there's currently only two towns, DW and Jangan, so yes, Jangan may be a bit empty (Since it takes like 2 hours to hit 40+), but DW is much more populated. Most servers have all the towns which is silly, since 90% of them are empty.

I think i'll go with revelations, both seem very similar but since i will not be playing a lot, the 60x vs 10x xp rate made the decision for me Thanks for the help

Plus, sure Salvation's rates may be slightly lower, but so is its cap. Takes about 2-3 days to cap on Salvation. (Unless you start now before the inspection cause the rates are currently doubled, so you'd cap that much faster).
Oh and Mari, what's your ign?

So i have been playing on both of them, revelations seems pretty nice, with the increased exp and 500k sp at the start. Salvation on the other hand has gotten worse with the instant 70 thingy imo, i've got almost no gold, so i gotta grind with some basic outfit, and my only goal is.. make gold, while items sell for 0 gold and mobs drop 2k each.. so i've got no motivation what so ever to play there. I'm gonna stick with revelations i guess
