we were planning to gap at 57 while grinding at guards.

I usually just go bard on new servers and 0 gap till the end and farm sp doing temple and fgw (since ill have to do fgw anyway). But for those not going bard. . .yeah. . .

I wish he would have just scrapped the whole "must verify register email" thing once he found that it wasn't working right. Theta didn't have this function and it worked fine, also a lot of places that have registration don't do this much anymore because of the problems it causes, I don't understand why Synx likes to make things harder for himself. I mean, the dude builds all this hype 5.4k facebook likes. .. 5.4 k potantial customers on launch - something 99.9 percent of pserver admins/game admins etc dream of having, and is not prepared for it. I don't think Synx is as professional as the community makes him out to be, I mean if he's the "best" the community has to offer. . .I shudder to think about those who can't hold a candle to him. . . With seemingly so much demand for a good server, it seems that no one can really take advantage of that in the community. If joymax were to release something like this server tommorow, they'd make tons of money. THEN once eveyrone on that server gets capped/fully geared, they can open another one etc etc, untill the turk well of money runs dry. . .They'd be Billionaires... Don't know why they haven't jumped on this yet.


@flinch, well the whole botting thing. . .the only reason why I never botted is because I can't be assed to download the bot, get it working, and spending more time setting it up, looking at it, etc etc than just playing the game. . .I've botted on other MMOs before(knight online waaay back in the day, twelve sky2 etc etc) and really its just not worth it, its just better to play a game that you don't need to bot at. . .a game that you can actually PLAY and be able to compete, rather than set up a bot 50% of the time. At least on these types of servers, (200x rates come on dude) you can just log in, play and log out when you need to. I dont get why Synx has to prioritize fixing the bot over getting the server up and running. Really if I HAVE to bot in a game just to compete, I don't play it, or Ill play the server when it first starts, when people who dont bot still party together because they are around the same level.

I don't really have a problem with botters themselves, rather the developers that promote that behavior by their bad game design(and their refusal to fix it. . .i.e. Joymax). Botting is the symptom of the bigger problem: bad game design/development. IF people don't want to play your game, you are a bad game designer, period.

It was pretty obvious that Joymax was doing this on purpose, I mean why sturggle with thinking up and making new content that will get your players to keep playing and spending money on the game, and is FUN? (like 60 cap Xian was and the start of 80cap, when euro came out on Hercules - which was a new server.)When you can just hire some artist to design a town and grinding area and monsters and raise the level cap every 5-6 months? I mean at that time, MMOs were all about the grind, and pay to win or grind forever as a business model. . .but times have changed, and people have figured out how to have this same effect but have their game be fun to play.

The reason why the legits are so adamant about not botting is because of the Venus server, where they had a critical mass of players who were tired of bots and decided to make a server that was against botters. This worked well in 80-90cap as euros were easy to level and cap with back then. . .I mean really I got to 80 cap in about 2-3 weeks grinding with my guild for 1and a half-2 hours a day. we even had one of the old srf mods in the parties/guild I was in. . .(he actually told me about this site heh)

Anyway because it was so easy to grind as a euro (compared to 100-125 cap wtf. . .) it was easy to get a lot of the players on board to being legit since it was a majority rule kind of thing. Of course, once Joymax kept on with their policy of pretty much forcing their players to bot(continual cap raises with extreme exp requirements), this eventually all ended.

The reason why the rest of the legits still act this way is because they 1) like to play the game in the same way I do (i.e. jbust sitting down relaxing and playing it) and 2(which is a flaw in my opinion): They think they can recreate what happened on venus again.
. . Thing is, Joymax scrwed that pooch, and most of the people that play the pserver are those that either still like parts of the game and got nostalgic for it (me). Or those that got sucked into Joymax's scheme and can't get away from the game (a lot of the egys/turks/brazilians/spannish/eastern europeans)and use botting as a means to satisfy that craving . The critical mass has shifted and those who are legit no longer have much power anymore. But they try to exert it anyway which makes people hate them(just look at the epvp board. . .arguing with people on the internet isn't going to help anything, it just makes people mad at you, instead of them wanting to join you.) I think if the other legits who just played, enjoyed the game and realized that Joymax made the game for botting, and let others do their thing, while the legits do theirs, there would be a lot more fun to be had. Also it would be much easier to convince the people who have the real effect on botting (GMs, P-server devs)to at least reward legits players so that they compete more than the botters do . . .to promote playing legitly -(on the myth forums I had a suggestion about this and one of the GMs - eddie, was simply just not having it, I'm assuming he thoguht that I thoguht that "AlIL B0T0RS M$St Di3" or something and immediately shut his brain down, and kept repeating "but botting is allowed" like I was trying to get them to ban botting which wasn't my point at all. . .but because of all the previous issues with "legits" he had that in his mind and just wouldn't listen) Of course if a bunch of great coders/game designers got together and somehow made a p-server where people wouldn't even NEED to bot, but be inspired to play the game legitly, that would be the best p-server ever. Unfortuantely no one has succeeded, or really thought too much about that yet. . .(yeah synx is trying, but at the same time. . .not which is disapointing.)

dude , its not about ( to be za best ) its about having fun and playing fair , boting = cheating , so if you use bot you are a cheater , its like in real life , no one likes an cheater ...

so if i play 2 hours per day of silkroad i`m ok when i know i did it fair and not cheating :)

oh wow, that sucks. My guess is that he's using a spannish host company. . .

Thing is spain is known for having horrible work ethichs there, It's a great country for partying and stuff, but for getting shit done. . .no. (source: the groups of spannish people I have met while living overseas)

Synx is really great at his job (db edits, pk2 edits, new ideas) but unfortunatly he wasn't prepared to deal with people using private exploits on his server: it's kind of hard to run a server that goes offline every couple of minutes. Due to the fact that only a handful of people know those exploits, and even less know how to fix it it's rather hard to get a stable server out there :soosad:


(if you want to know the hard truth: there are no private servers that have "fixed" all the exploits (not counting in nezekanroad online)) but happily not a lot of people are actively using them :)
