Guys just understand this. Emulators are illegal and legal. Legal if you use it only for your self for education purposes ( but not use it for public use )
illegal if its use for public use. Like hosting the server. Your still using joymax client and all this data so its copyright. Meaning you wont win.
Now you might be thinking, but Joymax is on korea they cant sue me. (Which in fact i've heard many ppl actually say this ) is not entirely true. They also have a corporation here for international silkroad, which means they can and will sue you.
client is released as public content and can be used to whatever extent as long as it is not modified or defaced.
True , but aslong as it connects with their content. Not yours. Open it open you'll see in the center bottom a copyright information. Not matter what you say , the court will win over joymax not you. Also Pk2 editing the large "silkroad" logo upon opening client into ESRO or something w.e of any kind of pk2 even if its 1% small , is considered modifying the client. Which "could" also get you in trouble if it is released into public for public use of "this specific" server host.
Also editing the HOST IP of the media is considered client altered , so is illegal as well. You see eckoro , your still screwed either way.
Edit: Joymax "could" sue you for using that client. Now the most important part is the item mall. The game isnt your's to begin with. You gain 1% of profit from this game you will become 100% probable of being sued. This includes selling sp , gold , "ITEM MALL" and thoes things.
Edit2: Now I know someone talked here about blizzard sueing a private server. This is completely 100% true. Blizzard won this case. And that server was using a 100% self created emulator. You guys might wanna take a look into that case. If any thing let me know I can link the sue. Most funny part is blizzard didnt just go after the owner of the private server , but also after the moderators of even the forums. And ofcourse the Gm's of the server.
