Hello,

I made a bard and I really like it but I'm not sure of my decision to go pure bard. It seems that most people take bard as as sub, but I think those people just want the advantages (eg. moving march, noise), and don't take the sub to support other people.
But I made this bard to be a bard and not to be an solo character (eg. rogue) with some bard skills.

So my question is: is a pure bard worth it, or is bard only good as as sub-class? Is he a vital member of a party or is he nice but not nevessary? Can he solo if he has to? And last but not lleast; is he okay in PvP?

Thanks in advance,

Micheeels

PS: I wrote this on my iPhone, so forgive me if I made any typo's.

I dont think bardic is a good primairy class at all. it has less damage then a wizard no fear status its not really worth it I tried to plvl @ ongs with it the only advantage is that you dont use MP pots ^^ but it just sux
if you want to be a real party supporter go cleric you can heal you never die you deal nice damage you rockkk in job because u can buff your party members and urself with light armor u got uber defence etc

Bardic kinda sux sorry man

well if you like ur bard then keep it. my friend was a pure bard up until lvl 81 he loved it the whole way up and lvled fast cuz he usualy had a 0-1 gap the whole time ithink at lvl 81 he added wizard. and ya they do help parties alot id say(could be wrong but if they didnt then why would they make them for euros...) and pvp probally not so good.

ive never had a bard this is just from waht i know/heard so i could be wrong.

IMO, single bard i good for pve and support.

For me it is a complete grinding package.
-good attack(stated herein as good as chinese nuke)
-fast movement with teleport
-prevent aggro mob with noise
-defense buff with tambour
-save mana pot
-save pills

bard is a nice build (well pve seems hard to me)

every (wizzie) party needs atleast one bard because they use more MP as pot delay gives them,, its as important as a cleric for a nice party,, stick with ur build xD

there where a few topic about i think,, some high lvl bard upped wizzie skills for pve if i remmember right,, for grinding pve

and pvp,, bard has the fastest cool down,, i dont have a bard myself so cant tell all the pro´s and con´s but what i remmember is that pvp aint that bad and u will get enough partys (well if you server has legits) but pve,, chinese nuker dmg is to less,, chinese can do that ´´low´´ dmg because they dont have pot delay,

Bards make wonderful primary casters. Check out viewtopic.php?f=5&t=88001
I love playing with my bard/cleric. It levels quite fast, solos well, and is a very good party player. My sub is cleric, but warlock and wizard are also fun subs to take for a bard.

I actually do reasonably well in pvp; I was surprised about that. The continuous tambours do help in that regard of course. :) The best part is though: quick spells with reasonable damage, and a low cooldown.

People underestimate bards and you should take advantage of that.
Pity that people won't do so on Venus thanks to Guardia.

But bards are needed often in parties and I seem to bard quite often when I party.

Even on Venus I don't see many bards. :O

Just a quick question: What makes me reach a higher level faster? Drop quests and grind, grind, grind, grind or do quests?

I was talking about underestimation of bards.

Pt grind while doing quests on those mobs. Open a site which has quest information (mmo-site, I think SRA or any other) and look which NPC gives a quest for a certain mob. Ignore the levels that are given. Normally you can take quests at an earlier level but they'll be red, which doesn't matter because you'll be pt grinding.

Yes, but all those europe quests are linked. So in order to do one I like I have to do other ones first.. :(
By that I'm having problems finding a party, since I'm only level 14 and there aren't much people that do some serious partying. Most parties are just people soloing in a party, if you know what I mean. :P

Thanks for the tips, though. :)

+1 Bards have awesome mag. attack and they get there skills off faster then a wizard... so pure bard vs pure wiz
Bards<Wiz
awesome build.

I play a pure bard, currently lvl 87, 0 gapped the whole way. I find it a lot of fun, you actually have more to do than most other characters, button wise anyway, I find. Yes, you cycle mana (or do orbit at 90), but you also have attacks to contribute, at the higher levels parties love you for the dances and tambours, which also means there is two party spots for bard vs 1 pty spot for pure clerics. You can solo if you have to. In group PvP, they are very good, especially with a few warrior buffs. 1 on 1 PvP, that is where they are weak, yes you have the tambours for defence, but not much else, if you can't nuke him in PvP first then you'll probably lose. The Patter Clamour fails more often than works so the bind doesn't really work. You do have an absolute damage attack for getting through all those pesky buffs though.

Thing I liked the most about it, if you read Guardia's bard guide, you can 0 gap pretty much the whole way and if you're not an afk bard, you will level very fast.

A bit late for me to chime in here but the strongest advantage for euro party to have a bard is really their mana pimping skills. In a serious hard-core grind party with wizards those mana pots can't keep up (due to the delay that was put in place to make bards and clerics useful).

Whether you are primary bard with a nice sub like wizard (for solo or when there are enough bards in a party), or pure bard, Bard is very useful. However parties rarely want more than 1-2 bards but will usually take as many wizards as they can squeeze in so...

This is why there aren't a lot of bards. The demand for them isn't as high as for the other euro classes (don't need as many in a party).
