Hello all,
I am currently playing a 1h Warrior/Cleric on Venus. I am curruently lvl 24 and wear a mixture of armour and protecter. But i was thinking, because i am full str, i have good phys def, and since i am keeping both warrior and cleric trees at the same level, i could really wear garments.
Is this a good idea?
Opinions appreciated
Thanx

(o, btw, i failed getting my new shield to +3 today, failed 4 times going from +1 to +2 ,is that bad luck or what, was using lucky powder AND premium)

heavy armor till you're 80 and fully farmed. and even then. heavy armor. But keep a Robe set for roc mountain mobs.. a lot of them have mag damage.

But until you're capped, heavy armor! I have light armor shoulders but that's only because the heavy armor ones look like cra.p on me ^^.

no matter how good your phy defense is, you're tanking 5 -> 11 party mobs at the same time that are 10+ levels higher than you. There's no way robes can do the job until you're capped and farmed.

+1 to GodsAngel post

It DOES make sense about tanking the pt mob, thats what the role of a warrior is right?

Robe robe robe robe

You're ganna need it for grinding mag. mobs, and also it's alot better for PvP, in my opinion.

Most of the level 80 glaviers wear garments.. why? because they have high phy. defense so they don't wear armor
same with 1H sword

again, all imo.

Light armor [looks like I'm the only advocate...]

Benefits:
-A tad bit more magical defense while sacrificing little physical defense
-Cleric buffs gain a boost, and if you switch to your cleric rod and buff yourself, your defense will go through the roof. [With my 2h I have about 950 pdef and 1163 mdef. When I switch to my cleric rod and shield, cast body deity and soul blessing on myself, I have 1400+ pdef, and almost 1800 mdef. Saved my ass aplenty of times.]

mm I think Nyahgis is a special case. If you plan on actually farming your cleric skills then yea light armor might be the better choice in 1 on 1 pvp and perhaps pve depending on the situation.

However, on Venus once you hit penons + there won't be any solo grinding or grinding without a good euro party and if you join the avalon union you won't find yourself pvping w/o a good euro party either.

I think nyahgis' build is quite good but it was born out of necessity on that particular server where there was a lack of high level euros. However, here~ staying alive and keeping warrior buffs on ints are main priority.

personally, although not recommended I'm switching to robe when im capped and fully farmed, why? because it's pretty <3.

Few warriors actually stay in heavy armor when they are capped. Reason being the whole PvP deal. You want to be able to at least take a few shots from a chinese nuker. With cleric sub the obvious choice is light armor because of the defense passive. At high caps, it's light or robe really, str can't kill you when you are partying with a cleric anyway, so might as well get some extra m.def.

For partying though, heavy all the way, parties don't kill magic mobs, since everyone has more p.def buffs, and the warrior's defense is the most important.

Partying = Heavy armor

Solo grinding = Id say light armor or robe (but its really not worth getting robes just to solo)

PvP: I say light or heavy armor. With mana skin (and in cleric sub case, bless) You can generally tank a nuker a few hits w/o dying, and can usually beat them very fast. Glaives and bladers are going to be major opponents, and since a wiz battle is whoever gets one shot first, i think you rly need the heavy armor or light armor to tank the str chinese while waiting for crits.

I would do light armor.

youll see a drop in defense as soon as u switch away from ur 1h sword cuz your passives will no longer be active.

thats when the cleric passives come into play, but those only work with light armor on.

light armor is fugly though, it looks like used up rags.

I'm the exact same build and I think that heavy armor is the best. By choosing the garments or protector you just make yourself weaker. Having cleric as a sub means that you will be able to buff your magic defense so you won't have to worry about that. In addition almost 90% of the mobs in SRO deal physical dmg. If you're worried about pvp then just wait till you get the skill mana skin and then laugh at the nukers who hit all low on you. :D
