I am currently a pure int spear user, with 9 gaps farming (skill at 71), and i recently thinking to change to s/s. What do you guys think?

Who do you think will win while 1on1? Pure int Spear or Pure int S/S?
So, what do you think I should go for? Spear or S/S? and I wonder who much do I have to spend to delevel all the heuksal skills

Depends. If with snow shield, Im gonna say spear. It'll almost or 1 shot the pure int s/s if not, then some husk moves would do the trick, while you can do Fanning Series to not get 1 shotted by the s/s.

If you're already spear I wouldn't recommend changing unless you got a lot of silk. But if you were making a new char, I'd recommend sword. So if you don't mind paying the silk, I'd go sword.

If you are pure pure int then s/s spear is for hybrids cuz they have more hp

even if you have spear and the passives wont last that much in pvp cuz less def.

So if your pure int s/s is better even if you lose 1k+hp cuz of the passive.

youll still gona have 2 weps instead of one so you gona have 2 with 5str

at least thats what i think :P

Spear can be for hybrids or pure ints...it's still an int weapon, can be used with any int-build.

Well, with s/s you'll last longer in pvp versus str builds, but fighting int builds who use spear, you'll probably get owned in pvp seeing how they'll usually nuke much more damage on you than you do with them (this is from personal exp before skills update with a pure int s/s with perfect alched gear and the max heuksal passive at the time; i.e., I nuked only 5k on a pure int spear while he nuked me for 7k...who you think won?)

Also, with the new 80 skills update the heuksal passive adds 2079hp at lvl8 than the old 1079 at lvl6. With snow shield and alched gear, pure int spears shouldn't have much a problem dealing with other builds, except euros, but everyone has probs with them lol.

If you want more defense, but to lose nuking damage (magical damage) then go with s/s, and you'll get those new status effects like bleed, etc. However, if you want more nuking damage, with a little bit less defense then just stick with spear. You do still have snow shield (hopefully), fanning spear series, and the heuksal passive.

Good Luck~ ^,^

If the other player doesn't pill off the status effects that the lvl 80 bicheon skill provides, then the s/s will nuke just as hard, if not harder than a spear int. Plus with a high br shield a s/s can last just as long if not longer than a pure int spear.

As a glave character, I'd rather fight a pure int spear with snow shield then a pure int s/s with snow, blocks are huge, and bleed etc suck. Just imo.

True, but if the spear user knew how to use a spear nuker and didn't have those expensive special pills, then they'd just throw up snow shield (if not already up) along with the fanning spear skill (mag def. increase) and they should survive long enough to deal with the s/s nuker.

um, maybe i havent read everything here yet, just started game...

but I made a pure int s/s... and I have no problems holding a spear when i want to nuke harder, then switch back to s/s for better tanking...

also the fanning spear move for mag def is kind of useless when you are laying on ground from a kd...

lol Why you use it before you get KD'd and switch to shield until you get back...Still, the fanning series will lessen the damage. Even though a str or an int build uses a physical attack (talking about chinese race here), magical damage still plays a role (imbue and the hybrid nature of chinese weapons), so the fanning spear series does help.

not sure but wouldnt you kind of suck if you switch to shield while on ground?

you are only on ground for like 2 seconds, i mean it helps you tank 2 or 3 hits? (i only got 1 down stab right now lol) but when you get back up, you have to switch back to spear or hit with fists, and while switching, i can kd again

I don't believe the damage difference is enough to make me bother with dual wep spear & s/s. A spear nukes me 9.Xk and a sword nukes me 9.Xk (spear being the higher of the two, but you get the idea), and with the bleed and all that a s/s hits me for around 11k. I'd rather just keep the shield out, take less dmg, and hope for some blocks.

i didnt mean being dual weapon

i mean being s/s and just holding spear to nuke, you dont need spear skills to nuke...

its same as person who said to just hold a shield while on ground, you just hold spear to nuke not to do weapon skills

No I know what you mean. But unless you have a macro or are just good at switching from spear back to s/s (you said you'd go back to s/s to tank more), then you're wasting time changing weapons around when you could be doing damage (in my case anyways).

You use shield while on the ground because you can't do virtually anything except sit there...why let them hit you all the time when you can lessen the damage and possibly block? (lots of people: glaive, bow, and spear switch to shield while kd'd).

Also, you switch back to spear while you're standing up, not when you're up all the way already so you're ready to rumble again lol.

Also, about just holding spear while nuking: You could possibly get just about 1 nuke out before your enemy is already attacking you, and you could possibly get caught in a kd or stun with spear still out, then you're pretty much screwed...so doing that isn't really recommended. Just stick to s/s or spear...don't try to fumble around in pvp with both unless you're dual wield.

*just trying to defend the pure int spear nuker to death XD*

other wise i use s/s to tank and nuke... i dont switch in middle of fight

Spear:
Bonus HP (though very little)
No defense (no defense + Low HP = Death by those who can take 1-2 nukes)
Most damage in game
Stun

Sword:
Defense (means you can live longer and keep hitting hard)
lose little damage
KD + stabs = pwn in PvP (capes, jobs, ext.)
Bleed, and the other 2 effects that are new to the sword(cant remember)
you can add str + int to your sword AND shield

i am a hybrid int s/s user. Sure i lose a little damage, but i can take a hit and deal great damage still

I normaly switch to Spear when killing mobs because i use nukes, but for Jobbing,PvP, or fighting stronger mobs, i use S/S because i want to kill.

I would Switch to S/S, Spear is really meant for Int Hybrids
