The first book is good for low levels. And the second book of smashing series is the best out of Smashing series. Don't bother with the last smashing series it takes too long to use and doesnt do much damage. The second book however is a quick stab that does quite alot of damage. When you get to the higher levels youll be using blade force series, knockdown, and chains.

if u plan to lvl/grind as a blader, it's worth it, other than that, i think for pacific ima get bow to lvl/grind, & only go blade for endgame farming for pvp (practically only need kd & stabs from blade for pvp, saves ton of sp)

The wolf makes it superfluous as a finishing strike. And instead of doing chain - smash - chain, I rather do chain - knockdown - chain. If you get the mob down on the knockdown, the stabs will finish it off.
The second knockdown skill has aoe attack, so if you are mobbed, you will both take of some hp from more then one and hopefully floor as many as possible to save some of you hp pots.
The petal sword dance is also great as a finish blow. If the mob you are hitting isn't down after the last chain, agro a new mob with petal and the aoe will mostly kill it.
