I fail to see how PvP is more important than PvE. A LOT of people are making PvP based build nowadays, but I don't see a point to it. IMO PvE is MUCH more important.
And don't say, "Just get to 90 then you will be great at PvP" or w/e. You know, it's not that easy to grind a character to lvl 90, and until then you will have to PvE which is truly important. As I see it PvP is just a waste of pots...

Because, when you start the game, you cannot PvP ... while you're climbing to cap, your desire for PvP is higher and higher...
PvE stops sometimes (lv.90), PvP never stops. PvE is boring, its not fun to mash mobs all the time, PvP is always random.

Well, yeah, Pve is important (at least if you handgrind....which are only around 10% of the players, Proud to be one of them ) Nevertheless...why do you do Pve...to use your character later on. As for me, that's for guild wars, fortress wars and jobs...For other that might mean PvP. Just what you prefer. However, it might be said a bit more often that a good PvP'er ain't always good at FW etc...

PvE does make up an important part of the game, but it's not as large as PvP (which the game is made around: the silk road aka jobbing). You can PvE as much as you want, until you hit cap (speaking on the basis of 1 character alone)...then what do you do? You go PvE all over again or you go take your work and PvP. I like to PvE time to time (I solo'd pretty much to 80 on Venus), but PvP is just so much more fun. Jobbing, GW's, FW's, Cape Pvp, CTF ...you can't deny that PvP makes up for a larger portion of the game.

pve is cool but i'd like to be able to hold my own vs players too, though i care more about pve since i'm going to be doing it for another 50 levels, but ctf usually takes care of my desire to pvp oddly enough its enough for me
but the main reason is most are bots, they don't hand grind so they dont' care how pve goes with their build.
Favorite build used to be rogue/bard but whats the bloody point with all these cheaters with invisible hack, it was great pve and pvp. But being only great pve now its not much worth it, warrior you can't pk2 its defense away. Even if i still focus more on grinding then i do fighting people i still want to be able to stand a chance when i do fight them.

Well, for me, I look down on people who like to just do the 1 vs 1 PvP. Kinda reminds me of the juvenile fighting that took place in high school 20 some odd years ago (yeah, I am that old). I also despise job wars when there is no trade to jack or protect. Ask for help? Forget it, I'll go back to grinding. 1 vs. 1 is pointless. It does not show the true value of the build. The value of a build can only be assessed in a team context.
I remember back during the 70 cap jacking 3x 5 star trades with my union against a rival union. The end result of the battle was determined pretty much by how many rezzers we had on one side. Pretty intense battle. I also remember grinding, when we would get a call for help by someone trying to get a trade through. We all stopped what we were doing, it didn't matter if we were on GT time or not, we would stop and help. That was a lot of fun, to me that is what PvP is all about, helping your friends. It takes a lot more than just a strong PvP build to do that, you have to think with your head.
Regardeless of your build, no matter how strong it is in 1 vs 1 PvP, if it cannot contribute to the team, it is worthless. But in this game, most of the trouble is not with a particular build people go with, but rather with the player themself. Even a nerfed build can play an important role in a team setting. The only limit is the imagination.

i wouldn't claim 1 vs 1 100% pointless there are times it is fun but the true value is how you can help in a job run or a war, even 1 on 1 happens on the fringes in a war or sometimes a lone theif vs a lone trader
i agree and have always said job wars with no loot is pointless

exactly. to me pve isnt really fun unless i am in a 8 man euro pt. i pve so i am able and do better in pvp/ job/ fw/ gw. fighting against computer generated AI is never something i enjoy. i dont even play the single player story mode of the other games that comes with online multiplayer. playing against/with real people is the fun part.

After you reach cap and you are full farmed, you PvP. There is nothing to do. You would not go back to PvE because it would be a waste of time unless you are powerfarming or powerleveling someone.

Does not want I remember the days I killed a mob and got 0.05% those were the days I think there is no player at lvl 90 that said: "Man i just loved grinding my way to cap! Ill do it again without plvling!" The point of SRO is job wars and fortress wars, but to be good at those 2 you need to 1vs1 pvp to, so you get the best combo of your skills for each class you attack... I like all... 1vs1 PVP, jobbing, FW... And I don't like FARMNING its so damn borring!!! Maybe regular PVE with no gap isnt that boring, you can do quests, you move to the next monster soon, NO DLVLING (dlvling hurts my soul!!) and up to date skills While at farming you have to look at the same monsters ass for months!!!

Silkroad=Triangular confict=PvP
It's as simple as that, for me I like PvE but I like PvP, especially jobbing, more.
