I was thinking today. And i was looking through a bunch of force skills and an idea surfaced in my mind. What about a monk? I mean i know clerics are good for buffs and all. But it seems monks are better for straight up healing. The main mastery's i plan on working on with my new concept build are main Force/Light, with a sub of spear. Im gonna have force to heal, lightning for a little more damage and utility, and spear for defense. I know im not gonna "Own" But are RPG games always entirely about owning? No. It's about having fun, and roleplaying. Most people usually dont see beyond that, and are imature ego frenzy little kids, and those need not to comment on this thread.
Any tip's, or if you have tryed something like this, id love your thoughts on it. Ill be posting frequently, and if it ends up worling out, ill start a guide.

Update:

I cam up with a cool buddhist name, Zenkai, it means World Zen. If you play in Venus, and you see me running around, dont be shy to say hi! :)

Aswell, my charchters body is the old monk looking guy. Keeping the roleplaying going.

Also I forgot to include, I will be a pure int build.

So far, at the lower levels it's the same as a nuke, except im more self sufficeint, as i can heal myself. And is saves money.

Job: Well at my current level, i cant have a job but im trying to decide between hunter, or trader. In a rolplaying perspective, monks dont really hunt bad guys, or kill in general. One thing monks do, make pilgrimages, which brings in the essence of the trader. So I plan on being a trader. This could change later though im not sure yet.

Note: Keep in mind that this is an expirmental build, im not intending to copy any already set build. Im forging my own path. NOt to say i wont listen to any adivce you guys may have, Just dont tell me that there is a specific build *Blah blah* that I should follow.

cool ^_^ , but spear isnt for defense, take the sword/blade + shield = more def :)

Yah i loved being Monk in guild wars, Farming kinda died with monks though. And i want spear for knocks down, and more power intelligence.

spear cant knockdown and doesnt give you more power intelligence man! Sword gives you knockdown + more def.

I meant stun. Plus i like the look of spears more. Im not going to start leveling spear, or sword anytime soon im gonna coast forawhile then pick one later on.

I acctually had that idea. But idk how effective it will be if i do that. Plus ill have to wait untill i get the lightning nuke, so i can cctually train.

monks don't believe in material goods so you shouldn't job at all. you should just go around and do good works such as healing random people, ressing all those that are lying dead, and perhaps give me money XDD.

I was on my rogue on sparta and I found a 5star laying on the ground so i took it but i couldnt take on the hunters, so i tryed to find some theifs to give it to, and every one that accepted saw my lvl and banished me, so now im just siting here with a 2star at my feet with no one to give it to, if your on sparta, PM me DarkMajesty, and go to donwhang, you can have it.

dude u shouldnt of made it pure int cuz in team pvp they aalways kill the healers 1st and your gonna be the weakest charter health wise you should go pure strgth with glaive skills as main class and force and maybe light or ice as sub classes with ice you get def so youll be almost invisble but with light ovisuly u get speed buffs so youwill lvl faster with that.

or just got weapon skill and force all the way that will probly work out better for final cap cuz u can max both and with vital spot you dont realy need imbue.

if they keep up with the way vital spots are going now and release some awsome new ones for like increases crit chance on that target... omg it would be sweet to see a force bower then. better yet, increases damage done by a crit by 100% LOL 30K CRIT FTW?

I recommned for the Monk/Taoist build, that you take spear at lvl30 as ur sub, and max ice and light, you will need snow shield and phy defense, also the nova's are so-so against non immune people, depends if you see freeze as a cheap shot or not, and also crystal wall. this is a fun build to play from my personal experiance and shines where dps is involved thanks to the vital spots, in 1v1 its not bad once you have impotent, but its really a support build :)

IMO a good monk is a Blader with Ice/Force/Bicheon in garms.

Well right now im gonna SP farm at bandit den untill i can take it anymore. And im gonna get curst heart quest as soon as i hit lvl 20. TO fix if i screw up. SO right now im going force/light/spear. And i got a new little monk companian squirel, his name is Eko. :D

well i think ull still do nice nuke damage cus if u debuff ur enemy first with vital spot ull do nice damge

i did this once before, but why not force ice and bich, force gives you the support you want, ice gives you freeze/ frostbite to help your party with mobs plus some dmg if you are int, bich gives you more defense, and 30 light for a bit of grass walk

i think that'd give you best support, debuff and stop enemies, while healing others, at higher lvl force gets stun but untill then an up to date freeze ball could be very good support to a party

edit: lol some one above said the same thing, of course its baro, me and him have both spent too much time learning about all builds to get caped

WEll my take on it is, LIght will increase my damage and heals. While also increasing speed. And Light has the most powerfull nuke wehn maxed. Im also going to put sp into ice, for its nuke, and defense. And finally, im going to max the vital spot tree, and all the healing trees. And im not going to fully invest in any *one* branch of weaponry. Im going to switch between spear and s/s depending on the ocasion. But most likely put sp into bacheon, because i will most likely use sheild skills more in pvp. Im going to leave heuskal alone, and just use spear for extra damage when needed.

light won't affect your heals, unlike clerics Chinese heals are absolute, a pure str will heal exactly the same as a pure int in Chinese, only the int will have more mp to afford the heals

edit: i'm assuming you think the peircing force's magic dmg increase will help your heals, and thats incorrect

Light won't effect your heals
Fire has the strongest nuke and imbue
Ice nukes are a waste of SP for PvP
So we have:
90 Light
90 Force
90 Ice
30 Bicheon
Pure Int That switches between s/s and spear while using 30 bicheon for KD. You'll die out of Snow Shield. Purpose of a monk build is to stay alive and help others deal damage. As Ice/Bicheon/Force Blader you'll still be able to kill if the need arises and you won't die out of snowshield.

My 2 cents but if you like your current build go for it. =]

Primarily support with low offensive and defensive capabilities. Will you be wearing protetor, armor, or garms?
