Hi,

I'm having some problems solo grinding my lvl 40 warlock/cleric(Warlock all skills maxed on lvl 36 and cleric on 36 too, maxed the necessary ones).
First of all I solo grind because there is a serious lack of euro parties in babel. Right now I'm grinding on lvl 37 Hun assault lancers. I have a great spot with just the right spawn rate (not too much, not too few) however when 2 giants spawn at the same time / within 2 minutes of each other then I'm dead because Bless doesn't reload so fast. Now my problem is:
I really don't know how to properly grind using a warlock (I solo lvled till lvl 23 and then I got Plvled in an academy I joined from which the master Plvls everyone till lvl 40 (Using his lvl 64+ bot which does nothing but plvl academy members 24/7).
Due to this I really haven't got any good experience grinding with a euro.
I already grinded till lvl 41 (But I just delvled due to 2 giants spawning -.-) but I don't think that my technique is the right one. I do one nuke (blood flower) and then I do 2 normal hits or 1 vampire touch and 1 normal hit when I don't have full HP. However I saw a vid of a lvl 38 (IIRC) warlock using NPC gear (mine is NPC too) killing the same huns I do, but they were PT mobs. I can't imagine me doing the same without getting killed every 5 minutes. This vid was from AceOps (Is he Da_Realest from this forum?!). Now can you help me with finding a good grinding technique and spot ? (BTW I have 2500 SP So I could lvl up cleric till lvl 40 lvl up recovery division and faith and have ~800SP left. But I think that lvling up cleric and leaving my warlock skills behind will not benefit me much since I use my warlock skills to attack. If I lvl up cleric till lvl 40 then I will have a 1 gap, not getting much SP. So then I will have to grind a long time to have enough SP to lvl up warlock too.)

SpoT^
If anything isn't clear then please tell me. I had a hard time writing this post since english isn't my first language.
EDIT: It's Da_Realest not Realist ^^

hm warlocks arent made for short fights, longer the better

so when 2 spawn, cast dots on 1 and sleep and stun the other then return to one with dots and use flower and vampire

also cast healing cycle on you when it isnt on

Thanks for the tips. I just lvled up healing cycle. It does seem like a very useful skill. Instant cooldown, so I can keep using it and very short cast time too.

EDIT: Any other advices? Like use more DoTs, use 2 DoTs on one mob then change to another

The Warlock class definitely takes more skill than most other classes out there. They can definitely win against anyone and anything but you must be an absolute master at attack canceling and debuffing.

I think it's the skill gap that is killing you. I have a 0 gap right now and I can kill party mobs (Hun Archers and Defence Lancers) within the 45 seconds of Bless Spell. If I see a party mob, I use Bless Spell and Healing Cycle, then switch to warlock rod. Debuff with Combat and Medical Raze and stun it when it gets close. Cast one or two DoT skills and then begin alternating between Blood Flower and Vampire Touch. You should sleep or stun whenever you can. Even though sleep's effect is nullified by the DoT, it can still stop an attack. Once Bless Spell wears off, you should stun it and run away because you will probably get owned. In your case, (like when you said 2 giants spawn at once), the only option is to use Bless Spell and Healing Cycle while running away.

thanks for your very elaborate post :-)
However I don't think the gap is killing me since you get almost get no new skils / updates before lvl 40. The only skill that updates is the Toxin DoT on lvl 38. So the problem really lies in the fact that I don't know how to grind efficiently. But all of your tips have helped me alot, I die ALOT less now, hell I didn't even die at all ^^.
Now I just hope that Da_Realest reads my topic and also posts a reply since he has a High lvl warlock (If he is AceOps on youtube)

Me

definitely your grinding technique... it's a little off.
imo never start off with blood flower ... yes it is a slow move but warlocks have nice distance.
Use toxin and decayed (dots) first. These two dots are the fastest single attk dots that you have... i don't use blaze or curse breath for grinding because they cast very slowly. Follow up with either combat raze and/or courage raze, Then cast blood flower. Blood flower should always be the finisher to give dots time to get a couple hits in. that strategy takes down mobs up to about 6 lvls higher... i think. Cast vampire touch after the two dots if you want hp. Anyway... this is how i grind.

you should prolly wear protector, you are at huns after all. just bring more pots if you have trouble with mp. I assume that you are pure int so i would go protector now unless you like the looks of some robes as I do.

Edit: stay away from normal attks... that's being too conservative :P
And stay away from medical raze... it's worthless in comparison to courage raze and a waste of time to cast... really it is.

I'm only 33 so that's how I grind. Sorry, I forgot to mention that.
I should probably try that sometime, since my subclass is party cleric and I have been using that more than my warlock. Thanks for telling us a different grinding technique. I learned something new from this thread :) Sorry spot I guess I was off. However we don't get Courage Raze until 44, which is a long way off.

I will hijack this topic for a while to ask some questions xD
Is it worth leveling up Medical Raze after level 44 when warlocks get Courage Raze? Or even Physical Raze for that matter?
Is Wheel Bind a good skill? Is Shadow Armor worth it?
Lastly, what is your skill sequence for PvPing Chinese people?

i normally kill with 2 dots and nuke, or 1 dot vampire and nuke

duribility goes down fast but you can still get a hour out of it :/
if you plan on saving weapon dont use warlock

and the zerk every minute works to balance duribility problem if you have it, just 2 dot monster then run to next and repeat

Is it worth leveling up Medical Raze after level 44 when warlocks get Courage Raze? I don't think so ... something else should be used in that time. what if it resists. The skill isn't important imo and only adds like a fourth of the damage that courage raze adds. Or even Physical Raze for that matter?
No... only if you are warrior they can spare the time to cast that.

Is Wheel Bind a good skill? 4 sec pot delay on chinese chars... worth it
Is Shadow Armor worth it? for that extra impact... becomes really powerful later. does about the same damage as the dots... a little more later i think.
Lastly, what is your skill sequence for PvPing Chinese people? Secret... i decided not to give this one out anymore; however, everyone on babel that pvps me at dw should know this one :P
