sword = int based weapon
blade = str based weapon

so if you are going s/s = sword/shield, go int

Pure str b/s (blade shield) aka Blader, or pure int s/s.

Blader:
Pros ~ best chinese charachter tanker, inherently good (tanker) even with mediocre equipments; you can pin down a strategic target when playing in a team; you can annoy alot of targets when playing in a team (lightning imbue helps in this case); blades tend to be really cheap in comparison to other weapons; easy to learn how to correctly play with for beginners, moderate difficulty to master this build.
Cons ~ least damage dealt of all the chinese builds; slowest to level up if you use bicheon mastery from lvl1 (there are other ways to level but thats beyond the scope of your question); high skill point requirements to master bicheon skill tree compared to other weapon trees; hardest to get a unique kill.

Pure int s/s:
Pros ~ deals alot of damage with magic attacks (aka nukes); fastest to level up among the chinese charachter builds; area of effect or splash damage is useful in group fights; many ways to build, many ways to play, so you could experiment alot with this build.
Cons ~ low hp thus hard to tank with (you die alot); dies alot in lag; hard to master this build, hard to play with effectively in 1on1 pvp; benefits alot from good equipments, so requires investment in better equipments at every opportunity (costs alot); harder to build at higher level caps because of the mastery limit of 300.
