Hello, i have a few questions about my character, a battle Bard/Cleric, and if you can answer them it will be much appreciated.

1- 9 Gapping/Soloing
I want to 9 gap farm on my Bard starting at a relatively low level (1x-2x). How well will he fare in this situation? Also, since i am on server Xian i will not be getting many parties up until 6x/7x so i will be mostly soloing.

2- Light Armour or Robe?
Most of the time my Cleric and Bard masteries will be at the same level. So would it be better for me to wear Light Armour instead of Robes?

3- Mana healing.
Is it really worth it to level such skills as Mana Cycle or Mana Wind? From what i experienced in this game so far the majority of players can easily keep up with their MP expense with pots, even those with a 15sec delay. So if i am in a Party playing as a Bard wouldn't it be better for me to contribute to the damage by nuking instead?

4- Cleric skills.
There isn't a single Guide on here about this so which Cleric skills should i take? I know about the obvious ones such as Bless and Recovery Division but are there any other crucial ones? Is Offering worth taking as well? Lastly, i prefer by far to play as a Bard in a party situation but i'd like to be able to switch to Cleric if my party really needs it. Which skills should i take in this situation? I don't want to level all of them to the point of being able to play as a Full Cleric, only the most crucial ones to serve as a secondary Cleric or in emergencies.

5- Individual skills.

Is Echo passive useful? It increases Range of Music Pleasure line skills but since a party is supposed to stay put and not run all around the place is this skill worth leveling?

Hit March. One of the Guides tells not to take it but isn't increased ATK rating pretty important?

Tuning Noise. I know that it is absolute damage and helps recover your MP but since i already will always have plenty of Mana could i skip this skill since from what i've heard it deals lower damage then normal harp attacks at higher levels?

Prism. I don't really understand the explanation for this passive, can someone explain it in their own words for me please?

Lastly, how fast do Bards generally level in solo situation? Would you put them as pretty fast along with Wizards and Pure INT Spear or among the slowest close to Bladers?

All answers very appreciated.

It's doable with good enough gear. But I would've never been able sustain that, kudos to you.

I say go LA for the passives.

No. A bard's main contribution to a party is it's mana healing abilities. Having said that, you can still keep everyone's MP full while ALSO nuking in between. It's loads of fun IMO. =)

4- Cleric skills.

This I cannot answer completely as my experience with clerics is somewhat, limited. But I would def get Offering.

5- Individual skills.

Yes it is. Party members do not always stay put like their supposed to. And for soloing/pvping it's a wonderful skill to hace.

Hit March. One of the Guides tells not to take it but isn't increased ATK rating pretty important?

It's really only ever usable with 2 bards in a party, I'd definatly get it. But, if there isn't very many bards on your server then don't worry about it.

Tuning Noise. I know that it is absolute damage and helps recover your MP but since i already will always have plenty of Mana could i skip this skill since from what i've heard it deals lower damage then normal harp attacks at higher levels?

Skipable. But it's nice for it's quick cast time and since you don't have many attack skills in the beginning.

Prism. I don't really understand the explanation for this passive, can someone explain it in their own words for me please?

I can't really remember exactly, but I feel like it helps you resist certain conditions like poison and what not. *shrugs*

Lastly, how fast do Bards generally level in solo situation? Would you put them as pretty fast along with Wizards and Pure INT Spear or among the slowest close to Bladers?

The thing is with bards is that they don't have many attack skills when you first start out, and less attack skills = less damage per second so yeah. IMO though they grind a tad bit slower then a Chinese s/s nuker does.

All answers very appreciated.

It's possible to farm at that level, but it's quite tough unless you have a nice weapon. Why don't you go to a server with more humans? *coff*venus*coff*

Yes. LA will give you a little bit more physical defense against the monsters. You will make up for the 10% loss in speed and 10% more mana consumption since you are bard.

It is worth it because you will not be paying for mana pots. Mana cycle is necessary. Mana wind not so necessary. A bard's primary job in a party is to keep everyone's mana full and keep tambour/dance up, so you would be useless in a party if you could not heal mp.

I don't know... in my opinion non-Full Clerics are next to useless in healing power compared to a full cleric. You'd be a bad secondary cleric. In the case of emergencies, you might also want to get res skills as well.

Most people on xian usually haven't been playing the game so they wouldn't know to stay put. They will join your party and say, "Ok, I turned on my bot, i'll be AFK"

It's ok, but if you are the only bard in a party, you will most likely be using tambour instead of the other marches because it is more useful.

This skill might come in useful if you never buy mp pots and accidentally forget to MC yourself.

I have no idea either.

They do somewhere close to the damage of Pure INT spear, but with a 9 gap you will find it somewhat difficult unless you grind on mobs lower than you.

There isn't much to add, and I am still learning bard, although I must say it is a fun class to play once you hit 60.

Prism is your resistance to mobs hitting you and taking off your tambours, so it's a must-have in my book. If you didn't have it, a mob would likely hit you once, and your tambour would drop. With it on, at level 64, I noticed I could take 4-5 hits before the tambour would drop. Having mana cycle on at the same time seems to help a little bit.

As for cleric skills - you mentioned you might keep your cleric skill level equal to bard. If that's the case, what I hear is that you'd be like a "dual-class" and could fight equally well as cleric, so I'd assume you'd want to keep the cleric passives like glory armor and favor armor. Not to mention that Charity and Faith are required to get some other skills.

If you want to go bard main, then only take healing - you don't need to max it - and res skills like reverse oblation, reverse, grand reverse, immolation. Then recovery division and bless. No need for attack skills at all, unless you want to PvP a lot in which case overhealing, glut healing, offering and pure offering seem to be useful.

Don't take innocent or integrity either unless you really want them, they remove statuses, and Cure Melody will kind of address that. For the most part you won't need even Cure Melody as a full cleric should be in your party too, and a bard isn't designed to be a healer.

If you don't level the cleric skills, a bard with cleric sub doesn't take nearly as much SP.

Oh, I forgot: I 4-5 gapped to 60 and man was it a pain. I didn't have decent gear, only managed SoS once at level 52. I couldn't fight mobs my level with any reasonable speed. I prefer to be able to one- or two-shot mobs.

Thank you all for your answers.

The only question that i have left is whether or not take Offering. Personally i don't think its worth it, since Bards don't have any Stun/Sleep spells, i just can't imagine myself being able to cast it unless my opponent goes AFK or something. What do you guys think?

As for Cleric spells, i am thinking of taking the following.

Faith
Healing Cycle/Orbit
Bless
Recovery Division
Reverse Oblation
Charity
Holy Spell/Word

Should i take out any of these skills or take any other ones?

Thanks.
