I was looking at this guide:
viewtopic.php?t=1243

and I saw this:
"At level 10 you will now be finding life difficult...pick one weapon mastery tree of choice and ONE elemental mastery tree of choice...Before you go overboard, we are only spending points to bring each mastery tree we want to level 5. Do not take any mastery tree over level 5 right now."

Why I am pointing this out is that if your level is 10, and your mastery is 5, your gap is only 5.

Wouldn't it be more effective if at level 10 your mastery is 1, at level 11:2, level 12:3, level 13:4, and finally level 14:5, and at level 14 you get your first imbue? (Since your mastery is finally 5)
This would keep your 9 level gap all the way, but would this work?

And also, if I keep doing this, would it be possible? Say at lvl 15:6, 16:7, 17:8, and so on?

Yes. It'd be more effective sp wise. Yet less effective in terms of actually leveling.

For most builds you only need a 5 gap. That's probably what their getting at.

But, I HIGHLY recommend you get an imbue at lvl 5. Then start to gap if you feel the need to. It's a lot easier to level if you have an imbue.

And yes it would be possible to "Say at lvl 15:6, 16:7, 17:8, and so on?"

Just hard.

Thank you for the reply.

I have another question that just came up. I never had a level 90 character, but at lvl 90, although you can't gain any more levels, can you still game skill points?

Yes you can.

The problem about 9 gapping is that leveling with it will take WAY, WAY more time. It's EXTREMELY hard to lvl with it. But in fact you'll get WAY more sxp. Not forgetting that all your skills will be 9 lvls behind your character, so you will be weaker than someone with skills up to date (I believe something like 10% weaker maybe?).

The fastest way would be making wizard but taking just skills you really need so you dont need to farm him much maybe gap 2-3 all the time and you can have all skills. Get wizard to at least lvl 64 and then you can if you have two computers(this isnt loader suggestion :D ) you can farm your char with that wizard at ongs. Plvl with wizard 22-28 with gap 9 at ongs then delevel to 22 again and all over again. Then after farming you can have gap 0 all the time witch will make lvling much easier. But this would be little boring because you need to make wizard and spend month or two on lvling him.
