No it's not better than bless, maybe with iron skin at the same time not sure  but yeah it's worth it

Bless spell has stronger defense then iron and mana. Lets say your in heavy armor. You get one shot by a wizard. Throw Mana skin on. You now got 2-3 shot by a wizard. yay! A few extra seconds to kill em.

Im in heavy, and it does increase mag defense a lot.
Heavy: Don't need skins/bless to tank STR, not rouges. Light: Pwn with skins, but without cannot tank either Robe: Fail very very hard vs bladers, but can kinda tank S/S nukers.

One major thing to note is that armor isn't the only thing that factors in how well you tank. Don't forget about your jewelry.

Yes you do needed to have a cleric rod equipped. But look at it this way... Once you put that cleric rod on you are invisible The only exceptions would be ints... If they get there timing right. Also spear nukers... If they nuke you then get a crit on ghost spear... May be a close call.
