You said you wanna have good damage, and be able to grind fast, and you dont care about PvP...I'd advise you to go 70:70
http://www.silkroadforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=24752 OHHHHH NO YOU DIDN'T.... Silv3rr said he was new to the game, I can't believe you just advised him to make a 70:70 and then casually gave him a link to a
46 page post that started a debate that lasted for almost a year

. I read that post up to about page 23 then skipped to the end and started reading it from the last page and still haven't finished it. Sheesh...
But we forgive
Puma60 because he is right (and well intentioned), except for one thing (
maybe) he didn't mention that you
will care about PvP some because when you start your jobs your Bow will come into contact with players. You can avoid that a bit by being smart TIP: Start jobbing as a Merchant / Trader and keep the difficulty at 1 Star. But I digress...
There is something that isn't well documented and the source of confusion in the Bow build guides. Consider this carefully; there are different ways that the higher levels describe their stat distribution (how much to
STR and how much to
INT) but they all assume that you have a working knowledge of the game. This (the confusing aspects of quickly describing builds) will even trip up the 'experts' occasionally.
You have already understood that every time you level you gain five (5) stat points, two of which are auto-distributed and the remaining three are user allocated. What we need to know when we are considering the various builds (other than those called "pure") is that there are two different ways of looking at your Character Screen, and which descriptions apply to what things. The best way to learn is to do it yourself.
HERE: Go out to nivlaM and play with the Stat applette:
http://www.nivlam.com/
Notice a couple things before you proceed. If you are doing something called a 1:1 (and I'm certain people will correct me if I am wrong) what you do is level once and add 3 pts to
STR then level again and add 3 points to
INT then rinse and repeat throughout the lifespan of your character. (Pretty basic way to gimp your BOW character there -- don't do it (unless you are already an expert), this is just an example for learning).
But to make a
"70:70" one must pay careful attention to the "Balance" stats. All characters start out with a Physical Balance set at 75 and a Magical Balance set at 62.
If for the first 6 levels you had added your stats on a 1:2 basis (adding 8
STR and 16
INT) you would have made a 69:69 Balance character. To continue and make a higher level with a 70:70 balance between Physical and Magical you would go Nakee each time you level, check your character screen for your current balance, and adjust accordingly. By adding more
INT and less
STR you will have more mana, do more magical damage but will have less life. Some compensate for this by wearing Protector armor for their characters while striving for 70:70.
Like this:

When Puma said that you should make a 70:70 he was referring to your NAKEE Balance between these two percentages. "Nakee Balance" can be determined by unequipping all your stuffs then opening your character screen and checking it. Since you have started your character as pure STR (another good build) it might be less complicated to start another character, but don't delete your first one. You've already been through the baby quests and will be surprised at how fast you can level now that you've learned to play better.

I'm 70:70 and I love it, but you will probably be happier going pure Str.
Being a good hybrid is very expensive in gear and SP compared to Str.
